HT1689 trying to download music library onto new iPhone, error sats items cant be found, wont download any music to iphone

Got a new 4s - 1700 songs in my library and can only download 3 to my phone. message says 100 items couldnt be found. OK, what about the rest?

Did you verify that the files actually exist on your computer, not just appear in the iTunes library? Can you play them in iTunes on the computer?

See if you have most of the songs with 'Exclamation' symbol precede the name under your music library.
If so, double click a song with ! mark on side, you will be given an option to locate the file where the song is held. Select "locate" and direct it to your External Drive folder / file where the song is and open it.
iTunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library.  OK that as this will fix all automatically instead of doing them one by one.

  • PLEASE HELP - how do I download old library onto new ipod???

My old IPOD broke & will not function. I bought a new IPOD and need to download the music from my original ipod library on to my new IPOD (same computer). How do I do this?? Please help me - I have so much music downloaded already that I am afraid of losing or needing to download again. Any suggestions??? Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Is the music on your computer? If so then make sure everything is updated...

Then just connect the iPod and it will sync the songs in iTunes.
Post back if I misunderstood your question

  • Trying to transfer ipod library onto new computer without losing songs

I just purchased a new computer and can't seem figure out how to transfer my ipods music into it. I don't want to lose all of my library but when I plug it into my new computer it says you can't have two libraries synced. Any ideas?

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How to transfer music library onto new desktop hard drive?

I just recently bought a new FreeAgent desktop 250 G hard drive because I was almost out of free space on my computer. Now I want to transfer all of my songs on iTunes onto that drive. How do I do that?

ok i clicked to "select all" on my iTunes and then dragged all the songs to the desktop hard drive. It says it is copying the songs. After it is done, I'll still be able to access all of the songs and sync them normally right? The only difference will be that instead of them being on my Local Drive they'll be on the desktop hard drive.
    Is that right?

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
The ipod is not a backup/storage device.

The error in Apple Configurator is "Unable to download iOS 8.0. The firmware image was corrupted. Please retry the operation."
Is there a way to get the Apple Configurator to try to re-download iOS 8?

Apple Support had me delete the image file from the following location:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.confi gurator/firmware/
    The file name was iPad3,4_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw
I deleted this file and ran the prepare again and it download the iOS 8 ok and successfully prepared the iPad.

I just subscribed to IHome but when it tries to gather information about my music library, I get an error message that my Itunes is not responding and then it shuts down. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

trying to install cs5.5 onto new pc, have old serial number... but can not find how I even start process. Yes, it is installed on a MAC, where I still want access.

You cannot install your Mac license on a PC. Serial numbers are platform specific. There's no way around that.

  • Backing up music library onto CD's or floppy dis

I have about 300 tracks in my Creative Music library and on my Creative MP3 player. If by any chance my computer crashes, is there any way of me backing up the music library onto CD's or floppy discs. I have searched in Microsoft help but cannot find anything to assist? Also would it require loads of CD's or loads of floppy discs?
Also if the music library on the computer crashes can the music from the MP3 player be copied back onto the Creative library?

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking about actually backing up "my music" folder in "my documents" in Word rather than just copying the tracks, but I don't know how to back up other than by just dropping and dragging the tracks onto a CD. I have searched in Microsoft Office help but there is no reference to backing up. Is burning them onto blank cd's the quickest way? Also if I need to get them back off the cd and put them back onto the computer can that be done and if so how and would it be done using the Creative software or just Explorer or My Computer?
