HT1692 Help--I need my iphone and Outlook Calendars to talk to each other.

After the last iOS update, my iphone and Outlook calendars are not communicating:
My iphone calendar sends to the gmail account associated with MS Outlook, but not to icloud--it does receive from iCloud.
Outlook does not to go to iCloud, or for that matter, to the gmail account that Outlook is associated with--nor does Outlook receive events from iCloud.
So, iCloud doesn't get stuff from iphone calendar, and after an aborted try at self-fixing, is no longer connected with Outlook at all.
I've tried to work through iSolutions, etc., but can't seem to follow, or match my circumstances, to what is provided. Can someone give me simple, step by step instructions on where my settings should be at all 3 points? I would be very grateful!

  • Syncing iPhone and Outlook Calendar - bug?

I have an issue syncing my iPhone 3G Calendar with Outlook’s Calendar (Outlook 2007). In general, the sync works fine, but: If I delete the current (ie first) instance of a repeating event in Outlook, when I sync, my iPhone will still display ALL instances of that event, including the ‘deleted’ one.
I have verified that this is because the iPhone is syncing the event based on its start date in Outlook, which will include the ‘deleted’ event, rather than what actually is shown as still a valid event in the calendar (which of course is what I want).
I am guessing that this is just because both manufacturers are pursuing a different methodology, but the bottom line is that iPhone claims it will sync properly, so I’d call it a bug.
I have a workaround, in that I can delete events from the Outlook calendar by changing the start date to the current one I wish to display, but this is cumbersome and of course takes more time. Is there a more elegant workaround? Or am I just doing something wrong?

When you decide to sync the second computer to the iphone, itunes will ask you if you want to merge or replace the data.
In the merge, data will be transfered both ways.
So, when you say separate, you can sync them one at a time, but in the end, all the events will be the same on both computers and iphone. Because itunes keeps merging the data.

  • How do I get my MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad all in sync with each other?

Just bought an iPad mini. What is best way to sync my iPhone 5, MacBook Pro, and iPad mini?

You use iTunes on the MacBook Pro to store backups of apps and documents. Use iPhoto on the MacBook Pro to organize and store photos. Then sync each device with the MacBook Pro by connecting the device to the MacBook Pro and running iTunes.

  • Ios7 - itunes mac and phone now wont talk to each other

I (foolishly) updated to ios7 on my iphone 4s.
Now itunes wont work, says it needed version 11 of itunes. so i download it.
itunes 11 wont load onto the mac as it says i need version 10.6.8 or later on the mac.
The mac software says its up to date (10.5.8) and there are no updates available....
Catch 22 and nothing is talking.

    Hi Marshall:
A Windows PC cannot read a Mac-format iPod. However, if you format the iPod on the PC, the Mac will be able to recognise it perfectly well. It is possible to manually load music from both the PC and the Mac to the PC-format iPod.

  • N and G networks not "talking" to each other

    Hi Everyone,
I have an Airport Extreme (802.11n) which is connected to our cable modem. Following an article in Macworld, I set up two networks, one for our "N" machines (a new iMac and a Macbook) and a "G" network for our older laptops (a PBG4 and a G4 iBook). The "G" network begins with an AEX which is connected to the Extreme via an ethernet cable. The "N" network is 5ghz and all works well except for one thing. I recently converted the "G" network to WDS; both the AEX base station and the WDS AEX relay have speakers attached to them, and the remote AEX (the last in the chain) is connected to our printer. Before I changed the AEXs to WDS, the "N" machines could both print and play to the connected speakers in the "G" network, but since I switched the "G" network to WDS, the "N" machines can't do so. (The AEXs don't show up in Airport Utility or iTunes on the "N" machines.) The only way we can print or play music from the "N" machines is to switch to the "G" network. I must have missed something when I set up the "G" WDS network. I'd like to make it so the "N" machines can stay on the "N" network but can access the functions on the "G" network. Thanks in advance.
    Joe

In this network configuration, the key is to make sure that the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), that is acting as the main base station in the WDS, is configured as a bridge. (Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode))

  • After syncing, lost almost all contacts (except 12) on iPhone and Outlook

I did a sync on Thursday and I lost almost all contacts (except 12 contacts) on both iPhone and Outlook. Only 6 of remaining 12 contacts were new entries since last syncing. So, some old contacts stays and most of got ereased. I tried to search for possible solutions with no luck. I got my iPhone in Asia to be able to have Chinese character input. I am traveling now and it looks like I dont' have a backup file of my outlook.
Is there a way to retrive the contact data from the iPhone Hard Drive?
    Need help ASAP.

Not sure what happened here, but I'm not aware of an iTunes prompt to sync an iPhone that is connected. Each iPhone includes a preference setting to automatically sync with iTunes when connected - which I recommend turning off. This is selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences. iTunes includes a preference setting to not automatically sync and iPod or iPhone when connected. This is a personal choice, but I prefer manually syncing, or syncing when I want to in case I want to make any changes before my iPhone is synced.
I assume your Father does not maintain a backup of his Address Book data on his Mac, or any other important data? The Address Book application includes a simple and quick backup Address Book option which is important to use when syncing any device, but is important regardless in case a problem arises with the Address Book database.
On your Father's Mac, with the Address Book application quit, go to Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
Within the Address Book folder, move the AddressBook.data file to the Desktop.
Change the name of the AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data or remove the .previous extension from the file name so it is AddressBook.data only.
Cross your fingers and launch the Address Book application. If the Address Book data is not restored, and your Father does not have a backup of his Address Book data, the data is lost.

  • Problems with synching calendars between iPhone and Outlook 2007 on Windows

I recently purchased a copy of windows 7 ultimate 64. It was an English version, but since it is ultimate I downloaded and changed it to Danish - so far so good...
I have synch'ed between outlook and iPhone on a Vista platform without problems, but now on windows 7 when I sync - the result is, that on my iPhone the meetings, work schedules and birthdays I have in my calendar is shown a day too soon!!
I have checked that both iPhone and Outlook start the week on Mondays, so that is not an issue - I have updated my iPhone to the newest software with out any luck - so now I try and write here instead - hopefully someone can help me...
    thanks in advance

yes they were set to the same timezone - which puzzled me a lot...
I lost a lot of sleep, but I can now say that I have solved the problem...
What I did was, that I un-installed microsoft office (desperate I know!) - then ran a sync with the iPhone choosing to overwrite the Calendar in the phone - as there was no calendar present - it deleted what was on the phone. Then I re-installed Microsoft office, by doing that, I didn't loose anything because the user files was still present including mail setting etc. - resynced the iPhone - and now it works...
Just can't figure out what went wrong in the first place...
    thank you for your answer

  • Calendar times do not match between iphone and outlook

I have an iPhone 4S, at work I use a PC and Outlook.  I have both my PC and my iPhone on the same time zone.  If I set an appointment in either calendar the time gets switched in the other.  For example:  I set an appointment in my iphone calendar for 11am.  One my outlook calendar it shows the same appointment at 10am.  Both systems are set to the same time zone, what gives?  How do I fix this?
Another thing I should add is I am in Saskatchewan Canada.  We do not switch time for daylight savings in March an November. So when the time switched in November everthing works great, it is only between March and November whe this problem arrises.  Saskatchewan is a setting in timezones for bothe the iphone and outlook so I don't think this should matter.  Unless one of the companies does not know Saskatchewan does not change times.
    Any suggestions?

Apple puts Saskatchewan into Central Standard Time, which isn't correct.  Then when it syncs to Outlook, Outlook puts the appointment into the CST time zone, instead of the Saskatchewan -6 time zone.  The problem is Apple's iCloud sending the wrong information to Outlook.
Need a fix for this please.

  • Emails on iPhone and Outlook

I have a virgin email account and have set up my iphone to receive these emails. However I'm having problems getting these emails to go to both my iPhone and Outlook on my computer. Sometimes it works fine and I'll find the same email on both devices, however sometimes it will only make it to my iPhone and sometimes only to Outlook. The email is never deleted off the server whichever (or both) device it ends up on.
    My settings are:
    Host Name: mail.virgin.net
    SMTP: smtp.virgin.net
    SSL: On
    Server Port: 25
    Advanced
    SSL: On
    Delete From Server: Never
    Server Port: 995
Does anyone know how I can ensure that my emails make it to Outlook even when they also make it to my iPhone?
    Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

  • Synchronizing my contacts between iPhone and Outlook

I currently synchronize my calendars between my iPhone and Outlook via the USB connection between my computer and the phone. I tried to do the calendar synchronization through the iCloud, as that looked really slick, but I didn't like some of the side effects, so I went back to synchronizing directly between my computer and my phone. It seems like to synchronize the contacts, the only option is to use iCloud, but I don't know if I can do that only for the contacts and not have my calendar involved? Any suggestions on how I do this?

Set it up as IMAP or configure it so that, while using POP, it retains a copy of the message on the server so that it can be downloaded again on multiple clients.

Possible help I bought this iPhone, and after that I told him and lock, and I went to a companions did not know what should I do help me
    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.
