HT1694 I did that, still can't send email, Ipod touch STILL says account information is incorrect (it's not) what now then???

I followed the steps detailed on the help page for resolving email issues with Hotmail (Live.com) did everything listed, followed all the steps, still can't send email, Ipod touch STILL says account information is incorrect (it's not) what now then???

Can you access the account on another device?
Have you tried when connected to another network?
Have you tried deleting the account from the iPod and reentering the settings since it is easy to make an error.

    I’ve tried using the same settings in my new iPhone5, but it doesn’t work. I can receive mail to both accounts, and can send from the Yahoo account, but I cannot send mail from the alias account. When I try, it displays the message: “Cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient ‘[email protected]’ was rejected by the server”.
    I’ve tried to configure the POP alias account using combinations of ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.com’, for the incoming host, and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server. None of these have worked.
    I’ve also tried setting it up using IMAP instead of POP without success. I tried configuring it using combinations of ‘imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the incoming mail server and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server.
    Yahoo say that if I can't send Yahoo! Mail from my mail program, I may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port, and that if this is the case, I should try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. I don't think that this is the problem, but I tried it just to make sure - without success.
    I’ve also heard that the problem might have something to do with the SPF settings of my alias domain provider. I’m not too sure exactly what SPF settings are, or how to change them, but from what I can gather it seems unlikely that this is the problem given that I was able to send mail from my alias account on my old iPhone3.
    Any help much appreciated: how can I get my alias account to send emails in iPhone5 mail?

    A new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
    However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
    So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.
    Any help appreciated.

    Where can I send a ipod touch, for it to get fixed? Anywhere besides apple store that I could absolutely trust. I don't want to send it in the mail either, because I don't want to get scammed. I guess I can go to an Apple store if I had to. But, my warrenty is up. Could they fix it, but would I have to pay more.
    Problem(s):
    - screen is cracked at bottom right corner going 1/4 of way up.
    - Music won't play out of headphones. I tried cleaning it and wiggling it, but nothing. It plays, but it only has either the words of the song, or the music of the song. (NOT the words) I could press down in front of it for a while to make it work, but it doesn't work that way anymore. (Thats how the screen cracked I think.)
    So can any of you look it up, and find what price I'd be looking at without buying another ipod touch. If, it's to much I might as well buy another ipod, NOt a touch, and only have it for music.

    Ummmm, yeah I don't want to send it anywhere, I want to be able to give it to somebody. And I do not want to drive a long way away just to do this either. I might end up just getting a new ipod, but not a touch. Because those suck with the headphone jack! Thanks for replying though.
    I also cracked my screen even more, only a little bit though. :/ I am going to leave it at my house for a while, because I don't want to crack it anymore.

    I havent seen anything confirming this but I suspect not. that would require you keep logging in and out of the two accounts since you can only sign in to one at once. In iTunes on your computer if you log into another iTunes account you can't log into another one for 90 days. As I say I've seen nothing confirming this on a mobile device, but I suspect it will be the same.

    Hello there. I logged a question immediately after downloading yosemite which seemed to have resulted in my email account not working.
    no matter what I do, when trying to send an email Iget messages of SMTP offline'; I have tried all kinds of suggestions from on here all to no effect.
    Tonight I deleted the accounts, logged off, rebooted and recreated the two email accounts. I can now receive email but still cannot send and get the same 'SMTP Offline' message as before.
    As before the two accounts and same settings work flawlessly on iPad 2, windows laptop and two Android based phones, so must be linked to the iMac and Yosemite?

    My Air is running Lion 10.7.4, and I have used the same details in the mail account section as my Pro that is on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but I can't send emails I can receive ok.     Your iPad doesn't receive email from Outlook Express (or any other email client).  It receives email from your email provider.  To set up your email account on your iPad go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap Add Account and add your email provider's account settings with your username and password.  iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail email settings are automatically entered by tapping the appropriate button.  Others must be manually entered by tapping Other.  (Exchange accounts will also require you to enter your email provider's settings.)

    I found this worked for me, just check your hotmail settings are as follows
    You change your POP to IMAP like this
    Outlook.com does support IMAP and SMTP.
    Incoming server:
    IMAP: imap-mail.outlook.com
    Port: 993
    Encrypted Connection: SSL
    Outgoing server:
    SMTP: smtp-mail.outlook.com
    Port: 25 or 587
    Encrypted Connection: TLS
    Username: Your Username
    Password: Your Password
    This won't work on mac os x mail unless you disable pop in your outlook.com account first. If you have mac os x mail, and you don't disable pop in your outlook.com account first, mail will automatically setup pop and smtp.

    Try a refresh on your e-mail account. Go your e-mail screen, where the account is listed, and long press the account name. A box will open with several choices -- press refresh. This may solve your problem.

    I have two .mac accounts on three different machines. My main email account gives me "cant send with server smtp message..." use a different server. I can send just fine with my other .mac acct on the same machine. But I can't send from my main .mac acct on any of the machines or the web client at home or work. I have created a new user from scratch and set up the .mac acct on it and still get the errors. So it doesn't seem to be a problem specific to machine, user, or network.     In your Account setup (via Mail Preferences) you may have to set up an Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) entry. As an example I have a IMAP account and a POP account. The IMAP account has the server smtp.<imap_domain>.com and the POP account has mail.<pop_domain>.net.au. I also have other domain entries which come into play if I am visiting friends or colleagues and need to send or receive mail via their broadband links which have ISP's that differ to mine.

    iOS 7.1.2, huh? It MAY be having some trouble with the iOS 8.x devices and latest iCloud features. Although it meets the minimum system requirements, it does not meet the recommended ones - System requirements for iCloud - Apple Support
