HT1694 Setting up Hotmail account on iPhone 4s

I don't see Hotmail as an option under settings anymore...if I set up my Hotmail account as an "other" it doesn't sync my messages. Help!

I tried setting up my Hotmail accout through the Outlook option and although it went through the initial set up without a problem, when I clicked on my mail account on my phone it was blank and did not display any of my emails. Are there any additional steps I need to take? Thanks!

I am trying to set up a Hotmail email address on iPhone, I launch Mail and it gives a list of easy setup options for exchange, gmial etc.. but none for Hotmail.
I choose 'Other' and enter in email address and password, it has a go but comes back with the error message saying unable to set account up...

I don't think you can use Hotmail. I gave my old iPod touch to a relative and I remember researching this at the time as he had a Hotmail account; something to do with the way Hotmail (which is Microsoft at the end of the day) deals with mail. Perhaps you could set up a Yahoo account and get it to retrieve your Hotmail messages or something but unless things have changed in the last 4 months or so your Hotmail account will not work with iPhone.

You actually now have the option to set up Hotmail as an Exchange account (a HUGE plus). Here are directions:
Microsoft recently announced that it it now allowing users to connect their iPhones, iPads and iPod touches to its free webmail service – Windows Live Hotmail – via Exchange ActiveSync. Before, the only option for Hotmail users wanting to access their email on the go was to set up their accounts via POP3 or login via a web browser. Because the POP3 protocol does not reflect changes to email statuses (whether read, deleted, etc) with the server version, so your emails end up out of sync. Exchange ActiveSync, on the other hand, reflects your changes across all devices. Plus, it means all your new Hotmail messages can be pushed directly to your iPhone or iPad.
Even better, setting it up on your iPhone or iPad is relatively simple (and thankfully, the same process on either device):
Open Settings and select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’.
Select ‘Add account’, and choose ‘Microsoft Exchange’.
For ‘Email’, enter your Hotmail email address ([email protected], for example).
Leave the ‘Domain’ field blank, but enter your Username (probably [email protected]) and Password (hopefully not yourname1234).
Give the account a description (this will appear in the Email app to identify the account). Select Next.
After that has verified, a new field – ‘Server’ – will appear. Enter m.hotmail.com in this field. Select Next again.
Choose which services you want to sync (Mail, Contacts and Calendars), and you’re done.
You can also set up how many days worth of mail you want to sync across and which folders should push emails to you.
To set up whether you want your email pushed to your phone (it’s an all-or-none decision if you have multiple Push-enabled accounts), go back to ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’, and select ‘Fetch New Data’. Here you can toggle Push on/off or choose to fetch data every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, hourly or manually (the latter will go easiest on your battery).

Is it a paid account or a free account?
The free accounts can not be set up on the iPhone because the free Hotmail accounts do not user one of the two email server standards, POP3 or IMAP (it uses a proprietary HTTP protocol) which the iPhone requires.
You will need to upgrade to one of the paid hotmail accounts before you can get POP3 access for your email.

it IS there when you are having an article on your page, if not you have the rss button in its place, or nothing at all: it pops up when you can use it. Same place as in all Safari browsers.

You'll have to do it in a separate User Account. One setup for your husbands use.

HT1694 unsync a hotmail account from my iPhone

Don't recall how it happened, but I had an old hotmail account and have an existing comcast account (default), somehow now everytime I use my iPhone to send email, it shows the hotmail account. I deleted the hotmail account from my phone, but it still does it.

Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars - Select Hotmail - Delete Account.

I finally got mine all set up fine (set mine up as POP). after writing to izymail support, I found out that my problem was that there was 8000+ messages in my Hotmail inbox. that kept my iphone from properly logging in and getting messages.
thought I'd post it in case anyone else was having trouble getting izymail/hotmail working on their phone.
it also took a bit of tweaking between my laptop G5 and my desktop G5 to get everything working as I need it to. i.e. setting my Mac Mail apps to "mark downloaded messages as read" so that my iphone wouldn't download 25 messages at a time. now it only downloads whatever emails haven't been downloaded by either of my other macs.
so far izymail works great.

When setting up my hotmail account on my iPhone 4s, I've noticed that all my folders from the my web account get transferred to my phone, and I don't want that. If I delete the folders from my iPhone email, the folders get deleted from my hotmail server, and that's not good at all!! How can I fix this big problem?
Also, how do I change my sender name/display name on my iPhone email? I.e. if my sender name is shown as John Marc but I just want it to be John??

Choose Hotmail for Hotmail and Other for the other one.
The phone will try to determine the server addresses automatically. If it can't you'll be asked for them. If you don't know them you'll have to contact the email provider and ask.

Having problems setting up hotmail on my iphone 4

i upgraded to the iphone 4 on 02 2 months or so ago. Since then i have not been able to set up hotmail on it. It accepts my yahoo mail no problem at all. But hotmail is my main account. After i have put in the details it asks for which is name, address, password and description ( that automatically turns to hotmail)i click the next button. It then says verifying . A box then appears which says "cannot get mail" the username or password for "pop3.live.com is incorrect. now i have tried it so many times so i know that my email address and password are fine! im stuck now and not a clue how to fix this.

I can´t configure my HOTMAIL account: it only receives email, but doesn´t send it.
I have tried to add the account as Exchange, as Outlook and as OTHERS, and the result is the same.
