help me to get my safari engine to allow me on the internet. it just stopped working

What happens when you try?
Do other apps that use the internet work?. If not
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Also, if you complete a movie in iMovie for iPad2, can you import that finished movie and work on it some more with iMovie for Mac or FCPX?

Depending on the format of the video, you can use the camera connection kit and connect USB cable to your camera, if the iPad does not recoginize the video format, you will have to convert them and then transfer them using the SD card or USB stick. Then to get them off you can do so several ways, either iPhoto or iMovie on your Mac, yes you can edit the movie in FCP.
If you are on Windows you could use a service like Dropbox and upload them in app and they would get moved to the folder on your comoputer, this also works on a Mac the same way. I find Dropbox very resourceful and you can even upload them to your iPad like this also. Move them to the folder > open Dropbox > click your file > then choose "open in" which ever app on your iPad you want to open it in.

Help! How do I get an XServe to allow cients on the internet?

There's something wrong. I've been at this for over 23 hours straight. I've read all the manuals and all the posts here, but can't find the answer. I seem to remember something during the Panther Server days but can't find it. Running Tiger Server now.
I have an Xserve connected to m DSL line (fixed IP) on the internal card NIC. The built in ethernet is connected to my hub. DNS is working and DHCP is also. Firewall is on and so is NAT. However, NAT wants to share the builtin ethernet not the internal card as the external interface. IN Panther, I remember having to edit a file because a bug in Panther Server that NAT would not let you set the right interface. I have the internal card set up first in Network and it connects fine to the DSL (posting this from the server), but won't let clients connect.
Tried opening ports in the Firewall, but the GUI is different than I remember. (Might be from being up 30 hours straight.) I need to get the office back on the internet and my airport base station won't cut it with ATT anymore. (long story - not sure of the cause.)
What am I missing here?

In Server Admin drag the little icon in the lower right corner in the NAT config window to the desktop.
Edit that .plist file with an editor, text edit or perhaps Property List Editor, find and exchange en0/en1 for ppp0, save it drag the edited file back on to the NAT config window - save.
Firewall/NAT might need restarting.

How can I get Firefox to respond to files with the .nxg extension?

I have been trying to open other pages than the home page of this site http://www.marinemachining.com/ and the only way that I can get them to open is to right click the URL button and choose open in a different tab or new window. Just clicking on the button should go to the page (for example "Propeller Shafting" and this will not work. Any help you can give is appreciated. Seems this Netopia file extension .nxg is not dealt with right now unless I have set something up wrong. Otherwise, I love Firefox.

Are that files that you have saved on your computer or web pages that you try to open?
Are you opening the files with a double-click in Windows Explorer?

Everytime i close a web site, and reconnect to the internet, instead of going to homepage it goes back to the site i had been on, how do i get it to go to homepage

Even though I followed directions to make yahoo.com my homepage, by clicking and dragging to home and clicking yes. When I browse the web and then close out to desktop and then click on firefox web browser, instead of going to homepage it redirects me back to the web site I had been on when I logged out.
How do I stop this and get it to take me to my home page?

Try changing firefox to the default browser: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Setting_Your_Default_Browser]. That will probably get firefox to open when you dial up.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the meter accelerating the web page". Can you explain that?

My emails are appearing along the top of the page in the tool bar area? how do i get rid of this and back to the regular email page

I opened my Mozilla yesterday and noticed my email page format was different then after a second, I noticed all my emails were now appearing along the top of the page in the tool bar area below "Fine Edit View Go ...etc" I'm not sure what happened. PLEASE help me I'm sure it's probably an easy fix, however I don't know how to fix it :)~ Also they are oldest email first, and since I normally save them for 45 days before deleting, I cant seem to get to the most recent email first. Ugh.

This is what happens when you continually open messages in tabs but never close them. Pretty soon all you have are message tabs showing and you have pushed the Inbox off the screen.
Get in the habit of closing message tabs after you read them.
To get out of your situation now, right click one of the tabs and select Close Other Tabs. Then use the x to close the last one.

I have rented and watched 4 movies which, though expired still appear in my video folder. I cannot watch them, but my ipad shows 4 videos in the "about" tab and shows several gigs of video used. How do I get rid of them and free up the memory?

I downloaded Mountain Lion on my Macbook Air, and it works without a hitch except for internet connectivity. It keeps losing the signal. My Macbook using the same connection is solid as a rock and never loses the connection. Is there something I can do? Since my Macbook works weell under exactly the same conditions and if memory serves so did my Macbook Air with Lion before I downloaded Mountain Lion, none of the usual fixes seem to apply.

I have the same problem, I think. I dont lose wifi signal, the mba stays connected to the router the whole time. Pings also seem unaffected by this problem. The problem is that web pages seem to load intermittently, in other words, it loads a page in 2 minutes. It loads:
the first 25% in the first 5 seconds
the next 25% in the next 50 seconds
the next 25% in the next 5 seconds
the last 25% in the last 50 seconds
Its quite annoying considering this can be as simple a page as goolge search results or even google.com.
I thought it was my ISP and i even made a big racket about it, switched ISPs and I have the same problem.
With the previous ISP I had a cisco router. This new ISP supplied their own modem/wifi. That doesnt seem to be the problem.
Im thinking its a config issue on my mba. I have the latest updates to ML.
Any ideas?

How do I get safari to open a pdf in the browser window. A while ago I turned it off by typing defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport -boolean yes into the terminal. Basically how do I undo that command

Then do a "get info" on it (Apple Key with the letter "i" key)
Select the "Open With" Box
Change it to "Preview"
Then select the box just beneath it
"Change All."
This should set your PDF's to be read with Preview.

I am really enjoying the Reading List pane in Safari. How can I get Safari to make it default that the reading pane is always open on every tab or window I open? I'm running Lion 10.7.3.

If you are having trouble keeping the leading zeros even after first formatting the cells as text and then importing the csv values (perhaps you are importing the csv via File > Open into a new document) then you can restore the leading zeros without much trouble:
Insert a new column next to the column where the leading zeros have not imported as you want. Here I assume the original values are in column B and your new column is C.
Put this formula in column C: =RIGHT("00000000"&A,6) , and fill down the column.
Select column C, command-c to copy, and, with the column still selected, Edit > Paste and Match Styles.
Delete the original column that has the missing leading zeros.
Replace the 6 in the formula with the number of digits you need, so the formula knows how many zeros to "pad."
The above assumes you actually need the leading zeros back. If you just want to display things nicely in your Numbers table, then formatting as Numeral System and setting Places to 6 (or whatever) is quick and easy, no formulas required.

You cannot delete Safari.
It is either on another page, in a folder, or you have restirctiosn set.
Check all three of these possibiities.

Drag the Safari icon straight up and off the Dock so it goes, "poof" ...
Now click and hold the Safari app in the Applications folder and drag that to the Dock.
See if you can open a webpage in Safari.

you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues.

I have a new MacBook Air running Mavericks. How do I get Safari to open with my previous tabs restored. I used to be able to find an option in Preferences that said when you open a new window open with the tabs from my previous session. That is no longer available to me.

I don't have that option in my general preferences. Even though I have Safari set to open with all windows from last session, it doesn't. I also think its very slow
