Try this for your home Wi-Fi:
On your iPhone, Settings > Wi-Fi > select your home network > "forget this network"
Power down (unplug) your wireless router
    Restart your iPhone
    Plug in your router
    Re-join that network
I don't know if this simple technique will fix it for good but try it. There is a long thread about this problem here: iOS 6 WiFi Disabled

  • Setting phone to only join known wifi networks and ignore all others...

Is it possible to set your phone to only join known wifi networks and ignore unknown wifi networks?
Being spammed with wifi connection quieries is really annoying. I live in Tokyo and I get about 15 messages in the 10 minutes walk from my place to the station.
I can turn off wifi completely, but then I have to turn it on and off every time I go into or out of a location with a wifi network that I wish to use.
Is it possible to set up my phone to automatically connect to wifi networks that connected to previously, yet ignore any networks which includes not harassing me by asking me if I wished to join the network? (If I wanted to join any particular network, I would ask the owner myself without the need for being prompted).

It is off. Unfortunately, all that function seems to do is stop my phone from asking me to join a "known" network. I could be wrong though as it's been a very long while since I tried turing it on.
Regardless of the setting of that function, I still get bombarded by messages asking me if I want to join unknown networks.

  • IOS devices can't connect automatically to known wifi network anymore (only manually)

    Hi there.
Just changed my old wifi router belkin 54g with a new sitecom 300n X2 (with 802.11n); after the change all my iOS devices (iphone4, ipod touch and ipad2) are not able anymore to automatically connect to my wifi network.
The network is recognized and after inserting the password the devices connect perfectly to the network, but if I switch off the wifi interface and then i switch it on again the devices don't connect to the known network automatically, I have to tap on my network in the list to join it, even if password is not requested anymore (just once, when connecting for the first time). My Macbook and other Android devices are automatically connecting fine.
I tried to forget the network and reconnect to it, I did a reset of the network stack under Settings->General->Reset, I did a device reset but nothing worked.
I even tried to limit channel bandwidth of the router to 20 Mhz (suggestion found in a forum) but no success, and I also changed the wifi channel to avoid interference, but again no success.
Any help will be really appreciated.
    Thanks a lot and regards.

  • How to automate joining an invisible network?

    Greetings,
Anyone know a way to automate joining a network that isn't visible so I dont have to type the name and password and everytime?
    Thanks

"System Preferences>Network>Advanced. Check the box "Remember networks this computer has joined.""
    That is already checked.
Invisible networks do not show in the AirPort menu.
I have to choose "Join Other Network..." and type in the name and password every time.
That's the purpose on an invisible network. Unless this is YOUR private network and you have to constantly be asked to join it.
Plus open System Preferences->Network pane, the 'Advanced' button. Make sure the name of the invisible network is at the top of the Preferred Networks, if you constantly join that network.

  • TS1398 How do I get my iPad to remember my home network? I already switched on the "automatically join known networks"

How do I get my iPad to remember my home network? I already switched on the "automatically join known networks"

turn off all of the ipads, (not put them to sleep but turn them off) then unplug your Wi-Fi router for 2 mins. Plug it back in and when all the lights are (green or blue, depends on who makes the router) turn on one ipad and then connect it, wait 3 mins and turn on the other and connect it, do this for each iPad and it should fix the problem.

  • How do I change system settings so that users are not required to enter the mac's admin pw in order to join a wifi network?

how do I change system settings so that users are not required to enter the mac's admin pw in order to join a wifi network?
Right now my macbook pro requires an admin password before connecting to a new wifi network. In other words when a user that is not an admin tries to connect to a new wifi network the pop up displays indicating that it is locked and an admin password is required.
Is there a way to remove this restriction so that a non admin can connect to wifi without the mac's admin password.

You can enable / disable this option in System Preferences:
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab > Require administrator authorization to: Change networks

  • How to view password of known WiFi network

How do I view list a of known WiFi networks on my iPhone? Also how do i check the password that was used for those known Wifi networks? It's easily done on OS X but how is it done on iOS devices?

You can't.  That's not a feature of iOS.

Macbook Air with OS X 10.8.2 not automatically connecting to known wifi network after sleep

If you are using WEP as a security on your router that is why it won't connect. WEP is so old school and very insecure that Apple has made it so there WiFi cards won't connect to WEP. It might as well be wide open. You can try that. Take all security, WEP/WPA/WPA2, off your router and see if it connects.
If it does then use either WPA or better WPA2.

  • HT1731 How does one configure a NEW (unconfigured) AirPort Express to join a WiFi network that has a non-broadcasted SSID?

The following KB article assumes that the user has a configured AirPort Express:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1731
I reset my AirPort Express, because the SSID of the WiFi network changed and its name is not broadcast for security reasons.
When using the "AirPort Utility" ( not the "AirPort Admin Utility" – which is the wrong name of the application in the article! ) the application found the unconfigured AirPort Express, connected to the LAN via ethernet; However, when selected, the configuration "wizard" assumes that the user wants to configure the AirPort Express as a WiFi base station.
I selected the option to have the AirPort Express join a WiFi network; However, the AirPort Utility sent back an error, saying that a "Base station" ( WiFi network?! ) could not be found. Well, guess what? That's because the SSID of the network I want the AirPort Express to join.
    UGH!
...and the best part is that there is no other solution, but to run with the AirPort Utility's assumptions, configure the AirPort Express as a WiFi Base station, then follow the KB article's instructions ( which are not accurate ) to re-configure the AirPort Express as a WiFi client.
This is a really bad user experience, Apple.
Please try following your own instructions to see how fantastically they fail..then, re-write your KB articles.
    Thanks,
PS — If anyone knows of any easier methodologies, do tell. (That's the "question" part of this inquiry )
PPS — My Mac Pro, which I used to configure the AirPort Express, does not have WiFi.
PPPS — Why do all the articles that match searches for "AirPort Express" return articles that refer to "AirPort Base Stations"?!  Please, for the love of UX, be consistent!

    Here are the basic steps:
    Run the AirPort Utility
    Select the AirPort Express
    Click on Manual Setup
    Click on the AirPort icon
    Click on the Wireless tab
For Wireless Mode, select the "Join a wireless network" option
In the Wireless Network Name field, enter the SSID of the hidden wireless network you want the Express to join.
Select the approrpriate wireless security type in the Wireless Security window.
Enter the appropriate wireless security password for the hidden network.
    Click on Update.

  • Trying to re-join a known wifi network

I have issue sometimes with my iPhone or iPad to rejoin a known wifi network.
For instance each morning I am connecting my iPhone to a public transport free wifi. My phone recognises and connects to the wifi however it cannot connect to the internet, because the safari browser is not launched automatically as it should.
I have tried to "forget the network" and try again but that did not work. I have switched my phone off and on again, no result.
I have same problem in hotels when I use the hotel wifi. When I come back to hotel and try to reconnect, wifi is connected, but web browser does not launch therefore I cannot access the hotel website to register and accept terms and conditions for instance.....
Should I bookmark the website when the web browser is launched the first time when I register, so that I can access the website again if it does not launch automatically ?

I stay in various hotels each month throughout the year and have occasional problems logging on to the local wifi.  I consulted an Apple Genius staff once about this and it was suggested to reset the network settings.  I tried this and it does help although I forget about it after a few months of using dozens, perhaps hundreds of different wifi hotspots.  Once you experience problems, go to General in Settings, hit Reset at the bottom then hit "Reset Network Settings".  After a few seconds all stored settings regarding past wifi connections will be erased.  By starting fresh like this you may have better luck.

  • How do I get a 1st generation time capsule to join a wifi network?

    OK, I've searched the groups but no luck.  Here's my situation;
I'd like to configure a 1st generation time capsule to join a wifi network ideally with a printer attached to the USB.  My set up is an iMac running 10.9.3, Airport Utility 6.3.2 and a 1st Generation TC with the latest firmware (7.6.4).  I'm trying to connect it to an ADSL Wifi Modem/Router.  I know a cabled connection would give better performance but want a wifi only connection as the printer is in a different room.
I've disabled the network functions (bridge mode) but I can only see wireless options to Create a Wireless Network, Extend a Wireless Network or Off, not to Join.  If I try to extend I get the option to add an SSID, security & passwords but it doesn't seem like parameters to join  -the drop-down doesn't list available networks to join & manually entering the main wifi network and password doesn't work.
Is my desired config even possible?
    Dave

Something.....a Mac or PC will need to have a 5.x version of AirPort Utility installed on the computer.
Perform a factory default reset on the Time Capsule by powering it off for a few minutes. Then, hold in the reset button first and keep holding for an additional 10-12 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back into the Time Capsule. Release the reset button after the hold period and allow a full minute for  the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Open up AirPort Utility on the computer, select the Time Capsule and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the row of icons to type in a device name and password that you want to use for the Time Capsule, set Time Zone, etc.
Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab
Hold down the option or Alt key while you click on the Wireless Mode setting box
Select the Join a wireless network setting
Select the name of the wireless network
Enter the password for the wireless network
    Verify the password
Click Update to save the settings
Note....everything here assumes that the router that provides the wireless network is using WPA2 Personal security, which is the default setting for the Time Capsule.

  • Automatically conncet to WIFI network

Yet another new behaviour since upgrading to 3.0, my ipod touch doesn't automatically connect to known WIFI networks anymore..
Used to be when i was in range, i would hear a little chime and it would connect then get push notifications of mail etc..
now i have to go to settings, wifi, connect to network.
anyone have any clue how to fix this?
(yes, already tried forget this network, reset network settings, and restore from new)

I don't have an answer, but I am having the same problem. My G2 iPod has been inconsistent in connecting to known networks under OS 2 and 3. For a few days, it might find networks it has been connected to before, but then it seems to "forget" them. Right now, I'm sitting beside an Airport extreme with two Macs connected via wifi (they connect without fail on startup), and the iPod can't even see the network, let alone remember it. If I tap Other, I can connect. It makes no difference whether "ask to join networks" is on or off. Today, I have "ask to join" turned off, and when I wake up the iPod, it sees the wifi network (because I just connected to it manually earlier today), but I have tap it to get it to join. If I turn "ask to join" on, and let the iPod sleep, when I wake it up, it can't see the network at all, and I have to manually join.
I'm sure there is an explanation, but whatever it is, I have to conclude that joining a network any number of times, does not establish it as a known network, and that the iPod does not have wifi connectivity particularly well implemented -- obviously not as well as the Macs I have in the same room.
Maybe there is a page where a list of "known" networks can be displayed? If so, I don't know where that is.
What makes a network "known"? Obviously, joining it is not enough. What does it take?
Wifi connectivity on the iPod is a big disappointment on an otherwise remarkable product.

  • My wife's i-pad 3 was just downloaded with iOS6 and we're unable to join our wifi network at home.  Can anyone help?

My wife's i-pad 3 was just downloaded with the latest iOS6 and she's now unable to join our wifi network at home.  Can anyone help?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
