HT1695 My iPhone 5 does not go on my home wifi network automatically, what settings do I need or what is the problem?

I thought once I first used my home wifi and entered my security code, it would connect automatically whenever I returned home.

Have you reset the phone by holding the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up? Then if that doesnt work, you need to restore your phone in itunes first from your backup, then if still not, then fron as new.

  • HT1695 If I am using my iPhone whilst not connected to my home wifi, will it cost me to use the internet?

If I am using my iPhone whist not connected to my home wifi, will it cost me to connect to the internet?

That depends on the Cellular Plan / package you have for the phone.  Some Plans include a certain ammount of data transfer in the cost of the phone package. If you have one of those then you have the specified ammount of data transfer to use the internet. If you go over you get charged extra.
If your plan is a Phone only plan with no Data package, then yes Internet will cost extra to whatever you already pay for the phone service.
Your best bet is to talk to your cellular carrier to make sure what type of Cellular package you have.

  • My iPhone 4s will not connect with my home WiFi network. I have ios6 on my phone. I have updated my IMac and my MacBook Pro with iOS 10.8.2. Anyone have any suggestions? It was connecting with no problems prior to updating my two computers.

My iPhone 4s will not connect with my home WiFi network. I have ios6 on my iPhone. The connection was working perfectly before I updated my IMac and my MacBook Pro to ios 10.8.2. I have had ios6 since I purchased the phone a couple of months ago. It searches for a network and finds them, but when it asks for my password, it will not accept the password. Have never had this happen before.

  • I have just updated the i06 software for my ipad and it will not connect to my home wifi network - all my other devices are able to connect - i have tried all troubleshooting options and none have worked - please help

I have just updated the i06 software for my iPad and it will not connect to my home wifi network - all my other devices are able to connect to my wifi network.
I have attempted all troubleshooting actions suggested and nothing has worked. I have restored my iPad network and factory settings - Please help - this is frustrating me

you have to set up your router to solve th problem. first find and write down the ipad mac address.
then log on to your router using your laptop or any device that can connect to router at 192.168.0.1 in your web browser. please check out my posting about how to resolve the wifi connection problem.
i think the ios6 update has reset the networking but if you set up the router then you should not have the same problem any more.

  • How did my Note 4 know my Home WiFi Network Key?

I signed up into my main gmail account on my brand new Note 4 and immediately connected to my home WiFi network without asking me the Key. I presume it is saved somewhere in my gmail account along with my contacts and calendar info.
This implies if someone can get to your gmail account, they may be able to access the home WiFi key. Very dangerous in my opinion!
Has anyone else seen this situation? Know where actually this information stored?

HRA95035, I know that would peak my curiosity just the same. While we would have limited resources on Googles mail platform or where the WiFi keys would actually be saved with Google, you would be able to turn this setting off within your device. To do so you can go into Settings, Backup & Reset and you will see the "Back up my data." If checked this will save app data, WiFi passwords, and other device settings and to disable you can uncheck the box. Hope this helps!

  • Why will my Iphone 6 not stay on my home Wifi and not recognize it?

I purchased my iPhone 6 in Nov of 2014. Since the date I purchased this phone, I am not able to stay on my home Wi-Fi signal. When the phone does recognize my Wi-Fi signal, it is only 1 bar and it is painfully slow! It locks up and just goes back to 3G. It does not and will not stay on LTE and I live in Baltimore and I never have a signal stronger than 3 bars and it always jumps between 3G and LTE. I know that is a Sprint issues, at lease I think it is, but never being able to use my home wi-fi is getting old!

    Hi, Peter.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are experiencing issues with your new iPhone 6 dropping from Wi-Fi.  Wireless troubleshooting can be difficult at times as there are multiple factors that can cause one device to experience this behavior but not others.  I would need a little more information with the type of router you are using to provide a better answer.  However, try adjusting your router per the recommend settings outlined below.
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
If you are still experiencing this issue, take a look at the troubleshooting article below.

  • IBook G3 does not want to recognise ANY wifi networks

    Dudes,
My iBook G3 running Tiger 10.4.11 simply refuses to pick up any wifi networks.
I have a router set up which works fine on it via ethernet.
It can't be a problem with the wifi setup because my iPhone can connect to it fine.
Can anyone help at all? Have tried rebooting iBook and router, repairing permissions etc.
I seem to remember having a similar problem a while ago trying to get my new MBA onto the same network as my existing MB - some problem about the router refusing to recognise more than one device attached to it - I had to do a factory reset, if memory serves - but that was running off an Airport Express - this is just a freebie router that came from my ISP.
    Can anyone help at all?
    Thanks so much
    JC

It could be broken, loose, or bad/frayed Antennae wire.
Did it work with WPA2 in the past? Some orinal Airport cards could not, of course that wouldn't stop it from seeing it I don't think, but maybe again it would, just not sure on the seeing.
The Netgear will have better Range & Speed anyway!

  • My iphone will not connect to my home wifi

I have had the iphone 4 and now just upgraded to the iphone 5...my wireless service in the house is dynex and now i cant get connected..I cant get to the screen that lets me put in my password.  Any ideas?

I tried all kinds of things on iPhone, did not help.  Finally unplugged router overnight, and problem solved. Had to restart my computer, so as to connect that to the wi-fi. Suggest trying the unplugging.

  • Yosemite 10.10.1 - DNS cache does not clear when switching between WiFi networks

Before updating to Yosemite, DNS caches would clear when switching between WiFi networks, as they should.
For Example, when using an Exchange server, your server name might be something like mail.company.com. Outside of the corporate LAN the IP would resolve to the outside (WAN) address. When you move the laptop inside the corporate LAN, it should clear the cache so mail.company.com resolves to the internal (LAN) address.  This is just one example of a dumb DNS transition not taking place switching from outside to inside (and vice versa).
Instead, OS X is holding onto the outside DNS record even when moving to the Corporate LAN. The only way to fix is to run the DNS cache command (which is MUCH more convoluted in Yosemite now), or more easily, to quickly turn off then turn on WiFi.
This is an irritation as I have to perform this action every morning, and every time I come back to my desk from offsite.

Well, clearing the caches is as simple as this, no?
    Clear MDNS Cache
    sudo discoveryutil mdnsflushcache
    Clear UDNS Cache
    sudo discoveryutil udnsflushcaches
One other thing: Have you tried 10.10.2? There are many many fixes in 10.10.2 over 10.10.1.

  • Mouse not active on top 1/4 of page. Won't give a pointing finger there. Can't log out or use any of the tabs at the top of a page. Internet Explorer does not do this, but we like your browser better. We just downloaded an update and the problem persists.

On this page we cannot log out or use the search box or pick desktop or mobile. Once we get down to the "firefox help/forum" level the pointing finger comes up and we can activate a mouse click there. Above that nothing.

The Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause this issue. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

  • Good morning. My IPAD2 is not connecting to my home WIFI network

    Good morning,
I just moved into a new home and setup my WIFI connection.
All the phones in he house and the laptop and the MacBook connected to the WIFI except my IPAD2.
    What can I do?
    Moe

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • My ipod 4 touch will not connect to my home wifi network since I upgraded to iOS 6

When I go into Utilities/WiFi on I see name of my home network. When I tap on it it asks for password. After I type in password/join, I get message "Unable to join the Ntwork ".....". I've tried the fixes suggested through a Google search to no avail. Any Ideas?

    Did you try?
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • IPhone 4 does not see my home WiFi network anymore.

All of a sudden, a few days ago, my wife's iPhone 4 (initially with iOS 6.0.1, now with iOS 6.1) does not see anymore my home WiFi network (created by a Time Capsule), to which it connected automatically.
This has worked flawlessly for years but now the home network (nothing has been changed to its configuration) does not appear in the list of networks seen by the iPhone 4 (mine, iPhone 5 - iOS 6.1 - has no problem at all) and when trying a manual connection I get an error message saying that the network was not found. When I tested, I was a feet away from the Time Capsule.
I have turned the iPhone off and on again twice, to no avail. Just to try something, I created a new WiFi network from my iMac and it was immediately seen by the iPhone 4.
I don't see what could explain these symptoms and what would be the cure.
    Help welcome
    Thanks
    Jacky

No luck. It changed nothing to iPhone behaviour.
    Thanks anyway.
