HT1725 How do I get an older version of GarageBand to reinstall on my iPad1?

I tried to load an update of GarageBand onto my iPad1, after I had updated on my iPad2 (yes, I still use both iPads), and it got stuck in the process.  Per directions received earlier from Apple Support regarding another similar issue, I deleted the GarageBand app, and bought a new app from the App Store and tried to download it.  Again the loading process got stuck with a blinking progress line showing.  When I checked back at the download page at the App Store, at the very bottom of the "new in version 1.4" it says it requires ios 6 or later, and iPad2 or later.
So, where/how do I find/get a download of the earlier version of GarageBand?  Also, is my iPad1 not able to update to IOS 6?

Sorry, but if you do not have a copy of the older version, either archived on your computer somewhere or as part of a backup, then there is no way you can download it now. The only version available of an app in the iTunes Store will always be the latest, which in the case of GarageBand requires iOS 6.
There was definitely no reason for you to repurchase GarageBand if you already owned it. All apps, assuming they're still available in the iTunes Store, can be re-downloaded without further cost. Go here:
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to contact the iTunes Store. Explain the duplicate purchase and perhaps they'll grant you a refund for that second copy.
Regards.

  • Get an older version of GarageBand iOS?

How do I get an older version of GarageBand for iOS (pre 2.0.1)? Other than this method :
    https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/support/advice-and-articles/app-store -downloading-older-versions-of-apps-ios
I have been all over that article trying to figure this issue out. The problem for me is, my app store, my wife's app store, my friend's app stores, etc. all have updated versions of GarageBand iOS and we have updated iOS to 7. I can't downgrade to iOS 6 any longer. I've asked a friend to trade me his old iPad for my newer one! And on and on to no avail.
Is there a way I can download a pre - 2.0.1 version of GarageBand iOS from a 3rd party? Can the file be placed somewhere and then onto my Mac via iTunes? I have contacted app store support about this. They offered to refund my $4.99, but cannot give me my also purchased (on a different account and updated there as well) old version of GB iOS.
I have a compatibility issue between the latest GB for iOS and Logic Pro 9 on the Mac. LP 9 will not open the latest version of GB iOS. I cannot download LP 10 bc my 2007 MP is 32-bit EFI. I'm not comfortable w/ the hacks for getting Mavericks, etc. as I'm not computer savvy. I'm a songwriter who wants to write and record as simply as possible. My current set-up runs like a tank. GB iOS is great for getting ideas down when on the road. Then I flesh things out on the Mac in LP and add the audio tracks there as well.
Anyone know a workaround for opening GB iOS in LP9? I don't want the audio BTW, just the MIDI. I can find the audio by show package contents, etc. but I can't see the MIDI info in the folder. Maybe my OSX won't recognize as I could possibly do this manually? When I unpack a pre-2.0.1 GB file on the Mac, I can see both the audio and the MIDI, but not on the new GB ".band" file. Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed. Thank you!

Thank you! Can you please explain? Can I still record in GB iOS and then use the MIDI synth app? Where is the MIDI synth app - on the iPad or Mac?  How do I get the MIDI info to the Mac - by iRig MIDI or USB? Please break down the process if you can and I will try it. Looks like great idea, I just need a little more info. Thanks!

  • How can i get an older Version of numbers?

Good evening to everybody. My problem: Numbers will not be load on my mac book air. Version in App Store is just for 0Sx 10.9 or higher. But my Mac is 0SX 10.8.5. How can i get an older version????

iWork '09, the version prior to the current major version, is still available on Amazon.  But I just noticed there are only a few left in stock.  Price is $26.99.  It may be worth the price if you use one or more of these apps regularly.  A large number of features have been removed from the latest version (10.9.x) in order to make it compatible with the iOS version.

  • How do I get an older version of Pages for older Macbook?

I am interested in an older version of Pages, one that had the good template options for flyers. I have OS 10.7.5 and since I have an older mac book laptop, I cannot upgrade to Mavericks. How do I get an older version of Pages? Ultimately, I'm interested in making flyers with good ready made templates, so I'm open to another alternative as well, if you have suggestions, thanks!

It sounds like you had Pages '08/'09.
    You don't still have it?
It should be in your Applications/iWork folder if you do.

If you didn't save an older version on your computer from a previous download, then there is no way to get one.
You can access the mobile web page through Safari.

  • How can i get an older version of Ibooks for my Ipad 1?

how can i get an older version of Ibooks for my Ipad 1?
    Since I have Ibooks 3.0.2 I can't start Ibooks on my Ipad1.

For iBooks try downloading the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it.
You can also try similar for the Kindle app - I don't know whether Amazon have made older versions of their app available in the store, so it may not work for that. If not, then as a work-around you could use their cloud reader 'app' : http://read.amazon.com - go to that site on Safari on your iPad and then create a homescreen shortcut for it (kindle cloud reader help)

  • How do I get the older version of imovie?

Our church has asked me to create some short video clips and, since I sold all my video equipment when I retired from the wedding scene, I only have access to iMovie. It seems adequate for their simple needs but I understand that the prior version was much better than the latest and I was wondering how I can get the older version. The version I have is 10.0.06. Thanks.

You need an iLife '11 instal DVD.  They are still available from Amazon I believe.  You can update this to the last version (9.0.9) at:  iMovie 9.0.9
If you are already familiar with iMovie 9, want to burn DVDs or have clips from old cameras then fine.   If not I would recommend persevering with iMovie 10

  • How do I get an older version of Pages to work on Snow Leopard? (I already purchased it on App Store a while back)

I purchased Pages on the App store a while back and I can't get it any more on my computer.
I have an early 2006 MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which is the highest it would go to, and it isn't compatible with the new Pages version. How can I get an old version?
    Thanks

Just wanted to spare you the details. I bought the app on a newer MacBook Pro a few years ago, which I no longer use. I upgraded my old MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard so that I can have the App store. So, the situation now is that I can't have a higher version of Mac OS X, and the only available versions of Pages and Numbers on the App store are ones that are compatible with 10.9 or higher. Therefore, I am trying to find a way to access older versions that I can use...

  • HT1199 Newer version of iTunes will not open.  My music is gone.  How can I get the older version back?

My "newer version" of itunes will not open.  How can I either get it to open or get the older version which worked fine?

Restore the backup before you installed.
If you didn't make a backup, at very minimum make sure your Music library isn't compromised by locating the folder you selected the music to be in (usually in Users -> yourname -> Music) and make sure there are several MB of data there by clicking once on the folder, and selecting Get Info from the File menu in the Finder.
If you can't find it, try to locate parts of track names with Find Any File.
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
then determine which parent file of the .mp3 or .mpa files you have contains all of the music files by getting info under each previous folder in the folder tree.
Once you determine which folder contains all your music, back it up using the Finder, or backup the entire hard drive using cloning software at least to two different drives or two complete copies on DVDs:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
You'll then want to erase and install 10.6 from the system installer you used to put 10.6 on your Mac, and run the combo 10.6.8 updater and apply the necessary security updates:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3261
Then you can install older versions of iTunes for the Mac from here, once you determine which version is compatible with 10.6.8 that you liked before by first checking which version is compatible with what you need:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes_version_history
Once you know that, if you can't find it with Google, let us know and maybe one of us can help. Lastly reload your music in your music folder, and your other applications.

  • Upgraded 3g to ios 4.2 and lost 75% of my apps.  when I down load solitary it says I need 4.3.  how do I get an older version of solitary for ios .2 or later?

when I upgraded my 3G to ios 4.1 I lost most 75% of my apps.  When I try to down load solitary from the app store I get a message that I need ios 4.2.  I do not think I can upgrade to 4.2 on this old phone.  How do I get my older apps back?

The iPhone 3G can be upgraded to iOS 4.2.1 but not iOS 4.3. If a given application is listed as requiring iOS 4.3 or newer, you'll need to load an older version of it from a computer with it if any.

  • Hate the new Itunes update....how can I get the older version back?

Anyone know??? Thanks for the help.

Google "old apps itunes" and you'll find a site with downloads of earlier versions. At first, you'll be told that iTunes can't access your music library because it's a newer version, but you can get around that by dragging the music data file onto iTunes. There's also a tutorial on YouTube that explains pretty clearly how to go back to older versions of iTunes.
