HT1725 INCOMPLETE SONGS

I down loaded an album and 3 of the songs are incomplete the music stops before the end of the song.  The download was initially interupted (the three songs were impacted) but appeared to finish properly.    How can I get the full songs?

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Incomplete song play:  Do replacement iPods do better?

I've had my iPod for less than two months. From the beginning I've had the problem of some songs not playing completely. If a particular song ends early, it will always end at the same point. For some songs they play for a few seconds or several seconds and then the iPod begins to play the next track in the list. For other songs they will play until near the end before jumping to the next track. Others terminate somewhere in the middle of what should play.
When songs "skip," if I go back to the song and scrub a significant amount past the point where it abruptly ends, the remainder of the song will play, indicating that most of, if not all of, the song file is present on the drive. For example, one song that abruptly ended yesterday lasts 5:16, but after 1:25 the iPod ends the song and plays the next track. I scrubbed to 1:30, and the iPod began playing the next track. But after I went back and scrubbed further, to 2:00, the remainder of the song played -- all of the way to 5:16.
I thought the problem was related to disk fragmentation, but no one seems to acknowledge that possibility. Optimizing my music storage drive and restoring the iPod seems to help most of the songs that once skipped, but then I continue to encounter additional "incomplete" songs as I listen to more of my collection. Having the backlight always on makes no difference. Having Genius on or off makes no difference. I even tried converting my ID3 tags and restoring, but I'm still encountering songs which don't play completely, and it's maddening and frustrating. When I perform a restore, most of the songs that failed prior to the restore will play normally, but it's very inconvenient to go through the process -- especially when it won't work completely.
I've gone through the 5Rs and I've restored the iPod several times.
So my question is this: For those who've experienced this problem and received replacements from Apple, have you finally gotten a unit which did not have this issue? (I know that in some older posts, users have complained that they've gotten a replacement unit -- or sometimes more than one -- that still had the same problem.)
Even though my collection is relatively small (only 14 gb, 3300 songs), it's time-consuming to listen to the entire collection to try to identify songs to re-encode from the CD, and I don't want to waste any more time, in case I have to send in several units for replacement while my warranty is still good. Besides, there doesn't seem to be any guarantee that songs that once played fine won't eventually start skipping. Today I even had a song purchased from the iTunes Music Store end halfway through the song -- how do I replace that?
Apple used to make the premier portable digital music jukebox device. What happened?

    Here are my thoughts...
    *Skipping songs*
The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out.
Some users have suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information is often a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/option clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags > None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
Personally I've have found files for which this solution doesn't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g. convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original file back onto the iPod.
    <hr>
With this in mind I think it's a firmware issue rather than somthing affecting your particular iPod alone. Therefore a replacement is most likely to have exactly the same issue with the same tracks. One thing you could try is to collect a couple of tracks that you know fail and ask a friend with an iPod to put them on theirs to see if the fault is consistent.
Whan I come across any problem tracks or spot an issue like missing artwork I use the select button on the iPod to go to the rating screen and give the track a rating of one. I then have a smart playlist in my iTunes that shows tracks with a rating of one so that I'm reminded of which tracks I need to fix.

  • How to remove an incomplete song from my iPhone?

I recently purchased a song that for some reason tried to download twice.  Now I have two copies, a complete download and an incomplete file that I can't remove from my iPhone4.  Anyone know how I can remove the unfinished song from my phone?

first you sync your phone with itunes and remove the broken files from the itunes library.then resync the phone.:)

  • Can we get some progress regarding incomplete song play?  PLEASE READ

I'm rather desperate to be rid of songs ending early (playing incompletely, skipping, jumping, cutting off, or whatever terminology you want to use). I'm making this post to try to consolidate everyone's complaints and to possibly alert Apple to the issue or bug so that they'll fix it. Hopefully an Apple Host will read this thread.
We've often surmised that the faulty play was because of a firmware issue. After having spent time this evening examining the problem between my iPod and my computer, I'm beginning to believe it's completely a hardware issue -- specifically pertaining to the 1.8 inch hard drive inside the iPod Classic.
Using [aacConverter|http://conglomco.org/aac>, I converted "Three Day Weekend" (which ends at 0:29 on my iPod despite being 4:48 in length), from the external hard drive on which I store my music. That decoded the m4a into aif. Then, using [Audacity|http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity], I examined the uncompressed file. It looked like this:
As you can see, there's nothing wrong with the file. I played it, and there was nothing wrong -- not even at the 0:29 mark. Then I used [iPodRip|http://ipodrip.com/download> to import files directly from my iPod. After repeating the above process -- aacConverter & Audacity -- I examined the copy of "Three Day Weekend" which is on my iPod. It looked like this:
In the 30th second, the wave drops off into some weird pulses for about 30 seconds, after which the audio sounds like the music I'd imported from the CD.
Apparently, something is happening to the file when it is transferred to the iPod's hard drive. Because removing the music and replacing it tends to fix the problem, my thought is that the hard drive has bad sectors that corrupt the data iTunes attempts to put there. I've only examined the waveform of a couple of the broken songs I imported from my iPod (iPodRip is shareware and limits the number of songs one can "rip" from the iPod without buying it), but there appears to be a pattern to the corruption -- around 30 seconds.
However, I have identified three iTunes Store songs with a break, and though I can't convert them or view their waveform, I can listen to them (with QuickTime Player), and their pulses sound different from those of the unprotected files.
So, given this information, can anyone figure out what's going on? (Reimporting songs is unnecessary, but users with much more music would have a reduced chance of having a place to put all of their music without having it riddled with bad sectors, if that's what they are.)

I see two possibilities. The first is that your problem isn't the same as mine. The second is that your method of playing a song from your iPod with iTunes on your computer isn't the same as mine.
I tested the aforementioned song, "Three Day Weekend," from the iPod's drive through iTunes while the iPod was connected to my computer, and once the song reached 0:29, it jumped to the next track, just as when playing the iPod standalone.
The files on your computer hard drive are not technically the same as the files on your iPod. The files on the iPod are clones of the files on your computer (or external drive). As I demonstrated in the OP, a broken file from my iPod has a chunk of data that's different from the original file. I did some more investigating today. Using TextEdit and BBEdit, I examined the "text" of the good file and the corrupt iPod file side by side. They were nearly identical. BBEdit located two differences. The corrupt file was missing 1366 lines of data compared to the good file, and the corrupt file had one line with a whole lot of empty space inserted in the middle of the data that appeared on a line with an otherwise similar appearance on the good file. In the near future I'll upload some screenshots and post links so that anyone can get a closer look at what I'm talking about. (I don't know what it all means.)
In order to check "Three Day Weekend" from my iPod in iTunes, I had to check the button next to "Manually manage music..." Then I expanded my iPod playlists by clicking on the triangle next to the icon of my iPod under DEVICES (it may help if you collapse your regular PLAYLISTS by clicking the triangle next to "PLAYLISTS" so that you won't mistakenly play one of the files from your hard drive). Then I went to my playlist where I track my broken songs and double-clicked on "Three Day Weekend." As I said, it exhibited the same behavior as on my iPod standalone. Mugsy, if you've followed that procedure and had your songs play fine, then your problem is different from mine.
If your problem is like mine but FooBar puts your music on the iPod, then it's not the SAME music that was faulty. The music on your hard drive is fine, but something's happening to it when iTunes transfers the music to the iPod. Because FooBar's transfer doesn't produce "skips," it's unlikely the hard drive has bad sectors. Rather, iTunes is corrupting the files during transfer. Or is it a combination of factors? Some posters have been saying they've been experiencing similar problems since some version of iTunes 7! What could be causing Apple's premier cross-platform software to be mucking up data during transfer? You would think they would want to fix it.

  • HT1725 Uncompleted song but no way to download it again.

I downloaded an album onto my IPad.  One of the songs dropped the last :40 seconds, and  the song shows up in the list as grayed out with an exclamation point next to it in my Music folder.  It plays, but I cannot rate it or burn it to disc.  No download button available to redownload or any way that I can see to download it again from the ITunes store on any of my devices (IPad, MacBook, IPhone).  The songs before it and after it are just fine.  Please help!  Thanks!

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (or delete it from the Music app on your iPad by swiping from right to left across its name on the track selection screen and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app).
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads with the same problem then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Incomplete Song?

    Hi,
New to Ipod's - this may have been discussed but couldn't find anything using search.
I transferred some songs from a cd to the ipod (video ipod) - and at least one song is complete - by about 2 minutes. I transferred again, but still incomplete.
    Help!!!!
    thanks,
    2lip

No, the CD i imported it from plays fine. The song is over 5 mins. and it has copied only 3:45 minutes both times.
I haven't listened to all the songs so i don't know if it happened on others,
but can't figure out why it would not record the whole song.
No one else ever have this happen?????

  • HT1725 A song was purchased and iTunes site indicated it was downloaded when the tab changed from "Downloaded" to "Play"...it shows up faded on my iPad and inactive.  What's the problem?

I purchased a song from ITunes.  The process was normal....I bought the song on and for my iPad; the site showed "downloading" and then "play".  The song is showing up faded and inactive on my iPad.  What is the problem?

    Good question!
In my experience there is usually a problem with the download. If you paid for the song, I advise to NOT try the download again as this may charge your iTunes account/ Credit Card twice.
If it was free, what the heck, try to download it again.
    OR
In the Music (orange) App if the song shows up USUALLY you can swipe left (like when you delete something) and delete the song and try to download again.
If none of this works, try contacting expresslane.apple.com
Start by clicking in the center column:
    1. iTunes
    2. iTune Store
    3. Connecting & Downloading
    4. Downloads from iTunes store incomplete or interrupted
    5. Continue
    6. Choose your support option (depending on time of day your options will include email, chat, call now, or schedule a callback)
    Good Luck!

  • How can I re-download an incomplete song?

I recently downloaded Maroon5 Overexposed and track number 6, Lady Killer was incomplete.  I googled it and one support response was to delete it and re-download it.  Well I deleted that sucker and now I can't figure out how to re-download it.  I get the message that all data has already been downloaded for this device.  I shouldn't have to go to another pc, install itunes, authorize it, download it, and transfer it.  HELP!  I didn't think it would be such a major pain in the *** to download a song again.
I've looked through several threads but still can't find the info I'm looking for.
    Thanks.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen has no songs/incomplete songs after Syncing?

So I recieved an iPod Touch for my birthday:
After syncing the music into my iPod manually, the music is shown to be in my iPod on iTunes, but when I go on my iPod and push on the Music Ap, it says there's no music. When the music did sometimes show up on my iPod it was incomplete and most of the song was cut off. I also cannot restore my iPod it becomes frozen and I have to continue it on another computer.
I can sync apps, etc on to my iPod but not music. I've looked at countless threads where people had this problem, many remained unsolved, I tried what was told where the problem was fixed (playing the music from my iPod on iTunes, then resyncing, etc), still not fixed.
On the other hand if I use my sister's computer and sync her music, it works?
My sister cannot get music off my computer on to her iPod either, so I'm pretty sure it's not my iPod.
I honestly do not want to put all my songs on to a relatives computer just to put songs on my iPod it's too much of a hassle (it works, it's just too much work), I do not want to do that everytime I want more music. I want to sync music on my computer.
Is there a solid solution to this problem?
I apologize for the complain, but I am extremely frustrated.
    Things I've tried:
-Reinstalling iTunes, restoring the iPod, resyncing, replaying music on iTunes off iPod, updating iPod, updating iTunes, checking Sync Music box, manually adding music.
I also have Windows 7 if that helps.
Thanks in advance to those who can help!

    Try resetting the iPod.
Next would be to restore from backup
Finally, restore to factoery defaults/new iPod.

  • HT1725 A song in my library seems to be missing...

When I log into ITunes I get a message saying that it can't locate a song. The entire album (minus the first song) is there, and I've tried looking for it in various folders and can't seem to find it. What should I do?

Do you have that song on a backup of your downloads that you can copy it back from ? If not then you might be able to re-download it (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes - if that track shows there but has downloaded against it as opposed to having the cloud symbol for re-downloading, then try deleting the track from your library first (i.e. where you are getting the 'unable to locate' message), and it should then get the cloud symbol against it.
