Hi amslyn23,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to download a past purchase on your computer but aren't seeing the option. This might happen if you're using more than one Apple ID or the file is already in your iTunes library. Take a look at the article linked below for more information and the steps for downloading past purchases.
Download past purchases
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Download previous purchases on Mac or PC
iTunes 10.3 or later
You need iTunes 10.6 or later to download previously purchased movies and TV shows.
iTunes account in a country where iTunes in the Cloud is available
iTunes Store
Open iTunes and go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased in the Quick Links section.
Select the content type that you want to download (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books).
Select Not in My Library to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
Find the item that you want to download. You can browse using the menu to the left. If you have more than 2,000 songs, you will see Recent Purchases instead of All Songs or Albums.
Click the Download icon next to the item you want to download.
If an item is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.
Cheers!

  • HT1657 Movie rental/download problems

Have rented a movie on my iPad and it will not play keeps coming up with " this format is not supported" any solutions.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • HT3209 Movie Rental download problem

I am trying to download a movie rental and I get this pop up that says "The URL "____________" can not be found on the server."  What does this mean?
    Thanks,
    Justin

I actually figured it out after all!  All I had to do was go back to the movie, select the rental button, iTunes recognized that I had already rented this movie but that it wasn't downloaded completely. It then made the download button visible and "voila" it restarted the download!

  • Movie Virgin - download problems

Shot a short movie on a Fuji f50 p&s. Able to download to the Fuji Finepix program. I can play it fine in the Fuji program. Cannot open in iMovie, cannot attach to E mail or burn. What I get is the 1st frame - period. The Fuji download has an AVI suffix. Fuji says the movie is a "motion jpg," mpg I'm sure. How can I change this to a workable file? What am I missing?

I would like to copy my movie to a CD/DVD (it's 180MB). I've burned it as an AVI and as MOV but it will not play on my entertainment DVD player. Do I need to make some different choices in Streamclip?
You need to use iDVD for burning a DVD that will be playable on a standard DVD Player. You should be able to drag the MPEG Streamclip movie into the background area of one of the Themes in iDVD. But probably the best thing is to first import the MPEG Streamclip movie into iMovie, if you haven't already done so - I actually assumed that you were intending to do this after the conversion by MPEG Streamclip (rather than burning straight from Streamclip).
In iMovie you can create a Project from the imported Event, then (among other things) add chapter markers that will be used by iDVD for your scene selections (if desired). Export from iMovie by using Share to Media Browser, as it gives better results than Share to iDVD. You will find the exported movie in iDVD's media browser tab. If you need help with any of this please let us know.
I would like to attach the movie to an Email and send it to some PC friends to watch. I saved the movie as a MOV.mov.zip thinking I was compressing it (woopee, it's only 178.9 MBs). Needless to say, it won't go through Email. Any ideas?
As you've discovered, large files are created with video, so email is usually not a feasible option for delivery. Alternatives are: MobileMe Gallery (if you have one), YouTube (up to 15 minutes), Vimeo, FaceBook and other similar sites where videos can be shared. Do some Googling - you may find something suitable.

  • Icloud movie purchase download problem

Trying to download and watch an itunes movie I previously purchased on my iphone but it isn't showing in my itunes. It is only showing as an icloud option on my iphone but I don't have the space anymore to download and watch it there. How can I watch my movie on my laptop? Even better if I can dowload it as I have plenty of room on my laptop for this and rather it not have to stream on internet.

I have new IPad ...can't watch rented downloaded movie on my tv..error message is " The connected display is not authorized to play protected movies"... What is up with that???

I had exact same problem and I have found a way to get round out!!!! Easy!
So the reason it doesn't allow it to play is for security to stop piracy etc.
Plug in the cable and VGA and aux cable and get everything set up so you are looking at the home screen.
    1) select Videos
    2) selected the film you want to watch
    3) click the little play button
    4) it will then come up with the message saying it can't play protected films blah blah blah
    5) WITHOUT clicking ok double tap the home button to bring up the multitasking bar and swipe left to reveal the control panel
    6) hold fast forward for a second or two and the movie with continue to play!
Stay in the multi tasking bar with the control panel, The message will stay there but don't worry. Kick back and enjoy your iPad movie on the big screen:)
I'm sure your saying thanks:) it was my pleasure realising I've outsmarted apples little security protection thing lol

  • I recently rented a movie, it downloaded successfully, but it won't play.  When I call up the movie, there is no play button, just what appears to be a stop button.  How do I access this movie, or get a refund?

I recently rented a movie, it downloaded successfully, and it will not play.  When I call up the movie, there is no play button, just what appears to be a stop button.  How do I access this movie, or get a refund?

As it says on the page that you posted from :
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Why it's like that I don't think that Apple have said (these are user-to-user forums). If you haven't downloaded it on your iPad then have you checked to see if you can download it on your computer's iTunes (Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option) or Apple TV ?
If it doesn't show on either of them then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will let you download it on a different computer/device or refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Itunes freezes if play a rented movie during download

I've been able to play a rented (purchased) movie befor the download was finished. Now, when I try to play it, iTunes freezes (it seems that the downloding continues in the background but the interface is all frozen. I have to Force Quit iTunes. This is starting to happend a few months before. Only Apple updates were installed latelly.
    MacBook Pro
    OSX 10.8.5
    iTunes 11.1.3

I have the exact same problem. Rented two movies, they downloaded in 25 minutes each. Went to play them over the weekend and my computer locked up, while the 24 hour clock was ticking. Had to go to task menu to end the program. Starting over yielded the same problem. The time ran out and movie was deleted but the charge was taken from my account. For the second movie I tried running it while I was logged onto iTunes. The same thing happened, only this time I had to eject from the program without being able to log off iTunes. VERY frustrating. Searched the iTunes help FAQs, blogs and forums and haven't found anything but your two postings. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this? And get our movies, or money, back? p.s. The purchased movies play just fine. NOT the rented ones.

  • HT1390 I've rented & downloaded a movie on my computer in itunes, but it does not show up on my Apple TV.  Everything else shows up on Apple TV, including my computer's movie library.  When I click on the movie in Apple TV it says I've already rented it.

I've rented & downloaded a movie on my computer in itunes, but it does not show up on my Apple TV.  Everything else shows up on Apple TV, including my computer's movie library.  When I click on the movie in Apple TV it says I've already rented it and asks if I want to rent it again.  No, I just want to watch it.

Unfortunately I have to if I download it on my computer.  I have rented itunes movies before directly using the Apple TV and it worked just fine and I could stay in the living room.  Without clicking that icon on my computer, there was no way to watch it.

  • HT1657 Once a rented movie is downloaded do I need an Internet connection to view it?  For example can I download a movie and watch it on a flight?

Once a rented movie is downloaded do I need an Internet connection to view it?  For example can I download a movie and watch it on a flight?

Please be aware of the movie rental's time limitation that you have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and once you start watching it, you have 24 hours to finish watching it. You may watch it as many times as you like during those 24 hours. It may be helpful to make sure the download completes successfully before you begin watching the movie.
Once the download is complete you can watch it without an Internet connection. However, an Internet connection to the iTunes Store is required to authorize playback or activate the 24 hours time-limit of movie rentals. This means, only during the starting of the movie. Once you have started playing the movie rental, internet connection is not required. You can play anywhere without internet connection.
For more information on movie rentals, you can visit:

Note: 24 hours time limit is for United States customer only, while 48 hours for other countries.

  • How to stop rented movie to download

Rented a movie.   Not enough space on ipad for it...  Used apple tv insted... But cant stop the download on ipap...   So now ipad memory is blocked for the movie...    Need help to cancel the rent/download on the movie....

I tried a test to see if I could stop a movie download, and I was able to do so.
From the store, under downloads in progress, it shows a 1 in red with an arrow.  I tap on that and it shows the video in progress.   In the bar above it shows EDIT.    Tap on EDIT.   It now shows a circle and if I tap that it gives me the option to cancel.   It then shows a confirmation to delete the download in progress.
See if that works and holler back...

  • Rental movie download problems

    I
I trie to download a movie ,it says it has downloaded buy won't let me play it

I have been having downloading problems for the last few days and despite all the tricky advice. iTunes jut can't solve the problem.
These are some of the actions taken:-
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Turn off Anti Virus (didn't like that one!) Then uninstall anti virus!!!!!! No!!!
    Change preferences in iTunes
Update iTunes...etc etc etc etc etc!  ZIP!
Think I will go back to Big Pond Movies as is a lot easier and less stressful.
Do I Tunes think everyone has telescopic eyesight? The text is so small (just like all their printed matter) have to use a magnifying glass.
As you can detect, I am less than happy.

  • HT1551 This thing is horrible. I rented a movie to watch later. Confirmed the movie was downloaded (available to watch) and when I hit "play" it tells me it will be ready to watch in 19-hours! What's up?

The ATV has no storage to speak of, so all content is streaming.
If the user desires to download first and play later, do so via iTunes on the computer.
