HT1725 Music taken hostage

I recently purchased 5 different songs from iTunes. 3 of the songs downloaded seamlessly. The other two songs keep saying download error and will not load. iTunes has happily already taken my money but I have not. Been able to receive the music I purchased. There is no problem with the Internet connection and there is plenty of memory space for the songs. Any suggestions?

Familiar story..the Verizon Home Fusion rep said 10 GB a month would be plenty for our usage.  Primarily e-mail and some web browsing, but no movies, TV shows, games, etc.  Burned 10 GB in 9 days.  Verizon's answer to the issue was to jack up my rate plan.  Using it just for routine e-mail we were burning over 1 GB a day, found hundreds of complaints about data consumption on Verizon's own web site.  We were working on a 6 week project in Wyoming so all the computer equipment went to Wyoming, there was nothing connected to the router, when I returned I discovered I was billed for 186 data sessions over that 6 week period when nothing was connected to the equipment.  NEVER did get anyone at Verizon to explain that one.  We had moved from Texas to Florida with the service, then it went down, Verizon sent a tech to the old address 1250 miles away, even though we told them when writing the trouble ticket to make sure they had the current address.  They never did reschedule the service call, and we were flat on our back for 29 days with no service.  So finally had enough of their data overcharges and switched to another wireless Internet provider.  Amazingly, without any changes in our usage habits, our data consumption was down 66% over Verizon's calculations.  There is something terribly wrong in how they calculate data usage, but since they are making money hand over fist, they just don't seem to care when you go into shock at how much data you seem to be using.  I'd need a second mortgage if I watched movies, played video games and watched TV shows on their pipeline.  Seeing them bill me for 186 data sessions when nothing was connected to the system was telling.  I can only tolerate so much abuse at the hands of a company like this, so we dumped this turkey.  The sad fact is, it was exceptionally fast when it worked, but something is drastically wrong in the way they meter usage, and no one there seems to want to discuss it with a CUSTOMER.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store, then.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Leopard taken hostage by Setup Assistant

leopard has been running great (except for a lot of app crashes), but as of last night, every time i try to log in the setup assistant starts. if i complete the registration process, it logs me out, but when i log in again, setup assistant takes over. "about this mac" and "restart" and "system preferences" and every other menu item fails to do anything. my machine is literally disabled by the setup assistant right now. suggestions? the way the machine has been rendered useless, it feels like a virus or malware or something has corrupted the system. i have no idea why this would happen--the mac did lock up during a software update (my mac loves to freeze up hard every now and then for no reason at all).

thanks. i think i was having more severe problems because i couldn't even get into safe mode. i suspect i had some bad memory (has since been removed, although it's still too soon to tell) which was causing random freezes. it happened during a software update, the recent one for itunes and quicktime. i decided to reinstall os x and restore using my time machine volume, and it worked impressively well. with a couple of hours, all my data was there, all my programs just worked (no more spending hours re-installing adobe software), and 99% of my mac and app settings were carried over, so it's basically like nothing happened. the only glitch was that time machine doesn't have an option to resume from a previous time machine volume--that is, when i noticed it wasn't backing up due to insufficient space, i didn't know what else to do but erase it and start over. i suppose that's one way to protect your data--explicitly forcing a manual erase, in case i wanted to use that volume to restore a duplicate onto another machine? or place it in cold storage; however, i wouldn't've minded the option to carry on uninterrupted. still, i'd call it a very successful practice test of time machine. going forward i feel a lot less concerned about losing all my files knowing i can be up and running again in a couple of hours right where i left off. i remember with windows i'd spend an entire weekend reinstalling the os, apps, coping files, entering serials, downloading drivers, etc. i'm sure there are plenty of backup programs on the market, such as retrospect, but this simplicity and integration speaks to just how mature os x has become.

  • How To Transfer music files from a usb flash drive onto my thrive

I have some music taken from my pc onto a usb flash drive.  I can play it on the thrive but want to permanently transfer it onto the thrive so I can play it without using the usb  flash drive.
    Cananyone help me?
    Thanks

One way that I did it was to download a movie onto my laptop. Once I did that, I copied it onto an SD card. Inserted the card into my Thrive and dowloaded it from there. Or as others have mentioned, keep the movie on the SD card so that you'll have more memory on your Thrive. I went on YouTube to see how to copy from the SD to the Thrive. It's pretty easy.

  • Lost music on burning in idvd

I  put together photos in imovie 11 with 30s  background music taken from ilife music to play right through.  I had some voice overs and other sound effects too.  The dvd is 13 min long.  It all works in preview perfectly and in idvd revolution too.  When I burn the last 2 minutes of the music and voice over disappears.  Have re-done several times but it fails each time in the same spot.  Hope you can help please.

    Hi
    Two Qs
1 Did You use iDVD SlideShow function ? - I use iMovie up to HD6 or FinalCut = 100% control
2 Did You use audio from iTunes ? - I do in iTunes collect needed audio into a new Playlist - then BURN this out as an Audio-CD (NOT .mp3 - but as .aiff 16-bit 44.1kHz) - This audio I use in my movie/slide projects.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Smallest music type

I have a 2GB ipod nano (second generation), which is supposed to hold up to 500 songs. I figure I should be able to fit at least 300, because I have a few songs that are longer than 4 minutes, but it is full after 200. I took all my files off and lyrics but that didn't help. I was wondering if maybe the file type of music taken off my CD's were larger than songs gotten from other sources. Could someone tell me what the smallest file type is, and how to convert my songs into that format?
ipod nano 2nd generation   Windows XP

It all depends on the bit rate at which you ripped the CDs. You can determine this by displaying the bit rate in one of the columns in your iTunes window.
Select View>View Options and check the "Bit Rate" box.
If your songs are on average about 4 minutes long, and the bit rate is higher than 128kbps, then you probably won't be able to fit 500 songs on the nano.
The higher the bit rate, the more space each song file takes up.

  • Itunes 7.1.1 will not launch

The app window never appears, but the little 'hash' mark under the app on the dock is there to indicate it's open, and the activity monitor does not list the process (except for the helper which is always running to my knowledge). When i force quit, the app still appears to be running when switching apps or checking the dock. No error message appears when launching off the dock or when force quitting the application, but if I launch by doubleclicking in the apps folder, it gives me an error in the finder "The operation could not be completed. An unexepcted error occured (error code -600)". I've tried trashing the app and re-installing but still no dice. Odder still, this started happening after I had been using itunes all weekend without running any software updates.
Anyone else having this nightmare sort of issue? I was using this computer to rip all my CD's and now itunes is holding my music library hostage! The library's intact, fortunately, but getting itunes to work again is a little bit beynd my level of troubleshooting.
    HELP!

OK - i found someone else having the same problem on the forum. They said that their ipod shuffle was plugged into their computer but when they unplugged it the app launched just fine. Well sure enough the same was true for me - I can't believe i went through all that hassle and worry and it was simply one USB plug mucking up the works!

  • TS4123 So what if the only Winsock Provider listed is the Bonjour Namespace Provider?

AppleMobileDeviceService.exe is constantly hogging one CPU on my machine. I've tried the Winsock command line reset (netsh winsock reset) and that seemed to work for awhile. Then the problem reappears.
I've tried stopping/starting or restarting the processes via the MS Services interface, and again, this resolves the issue temporarily. I've also, mostly out of frustration, stopped the process manually. Always comes back.
I've taken a look at Apple's suggestion (TS4123) which implies that their is some sort of conflict with another program. Back to my initial question:
So what if the only Winsock Provider listed is the Bonjour Namespace Provider?
Overall, at this point, I have to agree with the vast majority of users who are capable of both recognizing that this is a problem and troubleshooting it to this point: This is an Apple problem and it needs to be fixed by Apple, not passed off as a conflict from some other program that is "doing something wrong" in the eyes of Apple.
My next step is to continue troubleshooting on my own to come up with a workaround solution that doesn't require me resetting winsock or killing multiple processes every day in order to use a processor that shouldn't be taken hostage to begin with.
Has anyone out there explored the onset of this problem (I've seen iTunes 10.5) in relation to updating devices via WiFi network (also iTunes 10.5 feature add?).
I'm going to start by there and disable updating of all devices over WiFi to see if that  prevents the CPU hogging. Hopefully that's not it, because that sure is a great feature.
As a Mac user since 1985 and a M$ programmer for more than a decade, this is an extremely disappointing problem and one that should be an easy fix considering the resources AAPL manages to accrue.

    Nevermind.
Further review indicates that two up to date (iOS 6.1.4, Build 10B350) as of 7pm CST 7/2/2013 still causing AppleMobileDeviceService.exe to peg one processor at 100%.
Going to turn off "Sync with this iPhone over WIFI" for both phones and see if that does it.
    Shameful really.
Edit: iTunes up to date with 11.0.4.4

  • How to play SPC files in iTunes? [+FLAC too]

    That's it.
SPC files are music taken from Super Nintendo roms.
Is there a way to play them in iTunes?
    What about FLAC?

Neither of those formats is compatible with iTunes. You would need to convert them to an iTunes friendly format or use a player other than iTunes:

  • IPod does not show in iTunes. Diagnostics states "No iPod found"

    Version of ITunes ITunes 7.5.0.20
IPod version 5th Generation iPod (80GB)
Version of Windows: Vista Home Premium
I was bought a 5G iPod yesterday as a present. I connected it up and everything went swimmingly. It synchronised and downloaded the entire contents of my iTunes library (at the time just 15GB or so of music taken from CD's). Today I have downloaded a few podcasts etc (Just 185MB). I connected my iPod and it says connecting on the iPod follwed by synchronising then connected again, but the iPod will not show up in the left hand panel of iTunes. It shows as drive P: in my computer, but properties show it as having no data. Help Diagnostics show "No iPod found". I disconnected the iPod properly when I disconnected yesterday so that shouldn't have caused a problem. I've gone in and unistalled/reinstalled iTunes, I've unistalled/resintalled the iPod driver, nothing seems to work. What next please clever people out there? Very frustrated and narked off!

also for sum reason my comp wont let me dowload an ipod updater so im stil at 1.1 and the same thing with itunes

At night, as soon as I plug my iphone to be recharged, my iphone starts behaving anomaly.  It is like somebody has taken control of it.  I see the screens moving, music starts playing and then stopping, etc.  I have noticed that several nights.  What I do is in Settings is to change  into Plane Mode, thinking that, may be if I do that, somebody that has taking control of it will not be able to download data.  Yesterday night, I was awakened by an alarm, whose setting I did not changed. When I looked over, the alarm screen changed to Settings and the Plane Mode changed alone in front of my eyes, from on to off.
I have not observed such a situation during the day. Only when I plug the cable.
I suspected that may be there is no Trojan installed. May be the cable, which is a spare cable, has been modified by a hacker, and it has electronics installed in the connector.  But tested with the original cable, and the behavior was the same, as described above.

    Thanks Meg for your reply.
It could be that both cable are bad. But, anyway, you would not expect any of these manifestations, even with a bad cable. I had bad cable for my 4s, and never saw such a thing!
I contacted by chat the support of Apple.  They told me that this behavior could be a software problem and recommended me to do a full recover of my iphone. That meant, putting in at the factory conditions and recup all the data from the backup.  I did that, and the behavior did not change.  The backup was made with the data of my PC, not icloud.  Tomorrow will try with icloud and check if that will work.

  • I have a ipod touch 5 and when i was loading it up to my computer i chose to restore my last ipod, which had no camera. After all my music was loaded all of my photos i had taken with my ipod had been deleted. Is there any way i could get photos back?

I have a ipod touch 5 and when i was loading to my computer i chose to restore my data from my last ipod which did not have a camera. Then after all my music was uploaded i noticed that all the pictures i had taken on my new ipod had been deleted. I think it may be because i chose to restore my last ipod which no photos on it. I was wondering if there is any way to restore my lost photos?

If you backed up the iPod before restoring it then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
Also, if yoo have that backup you can extract the photos by:
Recover iPhone, iPad or iPod photos from backups with Picturescue
If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
