HT1750 network connection is randomly disconnected after sleep.

I have a iMac OS X (10.5.8) I purchased in 2009 brand new.  For the last 6 months, I have to go thru network diagnostics to verify my network name and re-enter my password for the network.  I have an Ipad, Ipod, and laptop PC that have no issues connecting to the network after I have contacted my network to troubleshoot problem, it is not the network.  My system software is currently up to date, I did notice that 10.7 Lion had a software update for this problem that I am experiencing.  Can anyone give me a solution to troubleshoot this problem?

The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of System Preferences>Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

  • TS3276 iCloud email on OSX 10.8 does not connect to the server after sleep

iCloud email on OSX 10.8 does not connect to the server after sleep.  The only way I can reconnect the iCloud email is to restart the computer. Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue?

I would suggest you try opening "Mail">click on "Mailboxes" in the Menu Bar> and select "Rebuild" from the list.  That may solve it.

  • All mounted network drives disconnect after sleep

    10.4, airport, powerbook.
All network (SMB) drives connect fine manually. They also reconnect after after login (modified login items). However, they will not persist after sleep.
After this powerbook sleeps, ALL network drives are dropped and have to be manually reconnected. Why?
I've seen this question asked about 20 times out here, but never answered.

    Thanks for the reply, Tim.
However - this is a serious SMB functionality issue. Just with OS-X. Not even Linux will misbehave like this.
I have 8 (eight) drives that I need mounted - all over the network. I simply cannot fiddle with manual remounts because they are NFS or SMB drive mounts and OSX freaks out. It takes me about 5 minutes to unmount all the drives, and as long to reconnect them. Which I have to do whenever this little Powerbook sleeps. Your solution of a manual disconnect/reconnect is absurd. Multiply this by the # of Apples we have, and you see what I mean.
We have 15 Windows laptops, and as many desktops that keep ALL of these drives mounted regardless of sleep, power cycle etc. All machines except the Apples.
If this bug needs escalation, let's do it. I've seen countless gripes about this issue and NO resolution. This is NOT a feature, or a requirement for user manual drive unmount intervention. It's a BUG.

  • Wireless connection not restored immediately after sleep

    Hi,
Since I have updated to Mavericks (OS X 10.9.1), my wireless connection doesn't restore automatically anymore after sleep.
This recently also started to happen when I boot my computer. I always have to click the wifi icon, select my network and then it still says "can't connect to network".
When I click the wifi icon and select my network a second time, it works.
I have tried setting the order of network services (WiFi first, then Bluetooth and finally Thunderbolt bridge), deleting my saved home network and adding it again, deleting all other saved wireless networks.
What can I do to fix this?
    Thank you.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    8. Reset the System Management Controller.
    9. Reset the PRAM.
    10. Reinstall OS X.

  • Wireless network does not automatically reconnect after sleep

I have a Belkin wireless G+ mimo modem router network. When I wake the mac from sleep it does not automatically reconnect to my wireless network and i have to manually select the network from the airport icon in the menu bar and then it connects without having to reenter my secure password. How do i set the mac to auto connect to the network after sleep? There are about 6 other wireless networks in range which may be effecting this reconnection.

In may case the network was already at the top of the preferred networks list.
Based of of a hint over at MacOSXhints.com, here's how I fixed this problem:
    1. In the Network references pane, delete the Airport connection that does not like to reconnect.
    2. Click Apply and Quit the System Prefs app.
    3. Put the computer to sleep.
    4. Wake the computer.
    5. Go back in to the Network pref pane and re-add the Airport connection. Do not try to connect to the network at this time.
    6. Click Apply and Quit the System Prefs app.
    7. Use the Airport menubar app to connect to your network.
    8. Verify connectivity
    9. Put the computer to sleep.
    10. Wake the computer.
    11. Verify connectivity
My machine now consistently reconnects when coming out of sleep or restarting.
    God luck!

  • Cannot auto-connect to wi-fi after sleep

I'm having troubles to reconnect to wi-fi once iPhone 3G goes to sleep mode (once auto-lock is activated when not being used for 1 minute).
This started to happen after 2.1 update.
My son's iPhone 3G which is still running version 2 firmware does not suffer from this.
We have a Belkin wi-fi router in house and when connected the signal strength is full all around the house, but whenever I "wake-up" my iPhone from Sleep mode, it instantly connects to 3G and never auto-connects to wi-fi (even when I'm standing next to the router). It can see and finds the router (under wi-fi settings) but is refusing to connect to it even when I select it.
I have to force this by switching on and off the airplane mode, then it reconnects to wi-fi instantly with full strength.
This useless excercise is so frustrating, especially considering that local provider Telstra is charging $2 per MB for casual use
of data on their 3G network and my iPhone is just happily eating up costly 3G bandwidth when I have a 4 mbits/sec internet connection over home wi-fi network.
Anybody else noticed this after 2.1 upgrade ?
Router is configured for WEP encryption, I've already rebooted my iPhone and the router.
    Cheers

I noticed that it takes a few seconds longer to reconnect to wi-fi after sleep, but it has consistently connected.

  • Problem with Virtual PC and Network Connection - VPC gets disconnected

    Hi,
I've been having a few problems with a virtual computer and its network connection.  I've set up a few computers the same way over the years and they all work fine except this one.  We use the Virtual PC and XP mode to access our data from an older
program.  The databases are on a server, which are accessed as a mapped drive.  Every once in a while (with no particular pattern, sometimes it doesn't happen all day, sometimes it happens every 5 mins), the VPC gets disconnected from the network,
my program returns a file read error and then everything is frozen.  When I try to ipconfig/release and renew, it releases correctly then it won't renew.  I need to shut down the VPC from the Win7 task manager and even so, it doesn't shut it down,
even when I try to kill the vpc process.  The only way it'll come back up is if I restart the computer.  The network connection on the Win7 computer doesn't do that.
Is there anything I can do to fix this ?
    Thanks,
    Melanie

    Hi,
Does it become more stable now, actually, I'm afraid that this issue is not related with the drive letter or name. Since you're using bridge mode, the I would suggest you use NAT as a test, it is the default network configuration, which allows the VM
to leverage the external TCP/IP network connected to the host. This is very useful if you regularly move the host computer between different network configurations. NAT is the preferred networking option when there is a shortage of IP addresses, a need to
ensure the VM’s IP address is not targetable from an external network, or a need for connecting using WWAN.

  • Mac OS 8.6 Auto network connect to a server after reboot is not working

We have multiple old blue and white systems on a network. All but one will automatically connect to the network when rebooted. I have gone into Chooser, Appletalk, put in the server IP address, put in the server password, checked the boxes that say remember Server name and password for next startup. I can connect at that time with no problem. When I reboot, the server does not automatically hook up. I have to go back into Chooser, etc. I created an alias on the desktop, but it still prompts me for a password to connect. I have performed a clean install of the Mac OS 8.6. It still does not connect to the server after reboot (after configuring all the settings again after the clean install). Please help..

  • DHCP Failover, one DHCP Server Partners Supnet is deactivated, Clients losing network connectivity for 3 sec. after renewing they IP Adress

    Hello,
currently we are using two W2K12R2 DHCP server configured in "load balance Mode". On DHCP1 the IP-scope with failover partnership to DHCP2 is deactivated. DHCP2 is working fine. Now we register that 50 percent of our clients (W2K8R2 application
server) losing the network connectivity for 3 sec. after rereleasing they IP-Address. On DHCP2 servers eventlog we receive a lot of
BINDING ACK reject events 20291 and 20292 for these IP addresses entries.
These 3 sec. of loosing they Network connectivity is our big Problem because the Client application (W2K8R2 application server) cannot handle these timeout. It looks like a
DISCOVER-OFFER-REQUEST-NAK cycle that are described here:

there is a solution to prevent the 3 sec network failure?
    Rgds

    Hi Steffen,
Have you applied KB2919355 in the server?
If issue persists, please check the detailed information about the event. It will tell us why does the server send the NAK.

  • Apple TV 3 drops network connection when it goes to sleep

I updated my Apple TV 3 to software version 7.0 (based on iOS 8) and now every time it goes to sleep it shuts down the network connection.  To wake it up, I either need to use the remote or use an iOS 8 device that supports handoff.  At least I think it does since my iPhone 5s can wake it up, but my iPad 2 cannot.  I believe the Apple TV is now using Bluetooth for connections.   This basically means Airplay with older devices won't work without first waking the Apple TV.  I'm not sure the point of the change since I'm using Ethernet, not Wifi, so there's no reason to "power down".
on a side note, sometimes the iPhone 5s can't wake the Apple TV either.  It usually wakes up when I open the control panel, but not always.  It goes back to sleep when I close the control panel.
Ia there any setting to make it work the way it used to?

    Chenks wrote:
the WIFI does not drop when my appletv goes to sleep.
my iphone can still see the appletv (via the airplay icon) when it is asleep.
All you are seeing is the last known Wifi state in iTunes (and similar app in iPhone, iPod, iPad). The AppleTV however has powered down "something" in its own mechanism to conserve power.
For the Apple TV to use such low watts in operation, its got to be powering down something.
I have seen this behaviour before in other devices that try to power down Wifi in a sleep state. It is not connected but it thinks it is. I'm not an expert in Wifi technology so won't state what is happening behind the scenes but do know that re-starting/re-powering up the devices will cause the wifi connections to be re-established.
I would try this but don't have access to my ATV at the moment. Turn off encryption and see if the problem persists. My gut tells me that the WPA/WEP encryption has lost itself in the low power state.
I suspect that 10/100/Gig RJ45 ethernet connections are not affected.

  • Loss of network connectivity at random times to guests and now hosts Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v on Dell R620...Guests virtual disks reside on a NAS.

We have set up 2 Hyper-v environments (Server 2012 R2 fully updated) on Dell R620's. The guest machines are configured do that they reside on a NAS (also a Dell R620 with server 2012). We are having an issue on both the environments where the guests will
lose network connectivity. The servers ran well for about 4 weeks and recently the guests started having issues and we have even had to reboot the host due to network connectivity problems.
We have 4 virtual switches set up. 1 connected to its own NIC. 1 for management and the 3 others for guests.
The 3 for guests are not configured to allow host OS sharing.
We do not have IP addresses on the NICS for the guests. Only on the management port. (all 1 GB NICS)
We have updated the firmware and drivers for the standard Broadcom Netxtreme cards.
We do not have Jumbo frames enabled because of some issues with switching compatability.
I've seen articles recommending to turn off TCP offloading and to disable virtual machine queues. Is this best practice?
Any thoughts of where I might look to help diagnose this issue?

    Hi ,
"1 connected to its own NIC. 1 for management and the 3 others for guests."
Also you mentioned that : " is only hosting these 24 VMs ".
First please try to disable the RSS in the property of the NICs for guests .
Then run powershell " Get-NetAdapterVMQ " to check the parameter "NumberOfReceiveQueues"  (NumberOfReceiveQueues – The number of queues that the NIC has available to use and assign to VMs,
the host and a default queue) .
If I understand correctly ,when you enable VMQ  the number of connected VMs on that NIC should not be more than the value of  "NumberOfReceiveQueues" -2 .
For details please refer to following link:

  • Lost internet connection randomly and after sleep

    Hey guys,
So I bought my apple TV2 refurb a couple weeks ago, and I've had a recurring problem since. I've restored multiple times to no avail.
So I'll be streaming something, Netflix mainly, and then at random time intervals (sometimes its 5 mins, sometimes 15 or more) I'll lose internet connectivity, the stream will stop. When I go to settings->network it still says that it is connected to my router with full signal strength (but there's no connectivity if I click on the itunes store or netflix).
The same symptoms happen whenever I wake from sleep. Then if I reboot the apple TV2 (hold menu and down) and it restarts it will be connected to the internet until it loses it again.
    It is VERY frustrating.
    Any help guys?

  • My LaCie Firewire 800 hard drive, connected to my Macbook Pro via Thunderbolt Cinema Display port, disconnects after sleep

I have a LaCie RAID Quadra hard drive (two disks in a case set to a redundant array) which for all intents and purporses appears as a normal hard drive to my mac.
When connected directly via FW800 to my Macbook Pro (2011, with thunderbolt port), it works perfectly.
For the sake of convenience, and since I am using it only at home as my Time Machine drive, I connected it to the FW800 port on my Thunderbolt Cinema Display.  The display works perfectly in every way up until now.
When connected, the drive works great.  However, when I put the machine to sleep, upon awakening it, I receive the "Disk improperly ejected" error immediately upon the screen coming up.
The drive is set to Auto mode which has always worked fine in the past; putting the drive to sleep when the computer is asleep, etc.
So, I only receive the disk ejected error when it's plugged into the Cinema Display; not when directly plugged into the MBP.
I have the 1.1 firmware update applied to the monitor.
    Any ideas?  I appreciate it.

My desktop has two FireWire ports. In the first one I had my webcam plugged in. In the second one, the External Hard Drive. I unplugged the camera and used the first port for my External HDrive and now it works! So it seems the problem is a hardware problem with the port.
I'd check to see if the problem returns when you plug the camera back into the second port, or if the drive works in the original port when the camera is not connected.
Edit: Maybe you unplugged the problem, when you unplugged the camera?
