HT1751 120gb ipod wont charge from my 12v  but ac only

why wont my 120gb ipod charge from my 12v  but only from ac? my old 60gb classic charges from both

Originally, iPods were charged through a firewire conenction, which is 12volts.
The next iPods could be charged either through firewire or USB (which is 5 volts). Newer - and by definition the latest iPods - only charge through the USB line. There is no 12 volt facility on newer iPods.
So your 60GB iPod (which I suspect is actually a iPod 5th generation {not a Classic}, available from October 2005) will be from that middle group, able to use either firewire or USB to charge. The 120GB iPod Classic was introduced in Septemeber 2008 and by that time, Apple was no longer using firewire for charging.

  • Ipod wont charge on a wall socket-will only charge a little from USB.

    Dear Apple,
    I have a 160gb ipod model which i bought 3 months ago.
Recently my ipod has stopped charging from a wall socket completely.I ve been using the apple wall charger for a time so i know its not its fault.Further on i have tried another third company's usb wall charger and 2 different cables.Nothing seems to work.Afterwards i tried charging it on a PC and it worked the first time but after that i leave it charging for 2-4 hours and it only shows 1/2 of the battery getting charged which will go down to 1/3,1/4th as soon as i plug it off.I ve tried resetting it multiple times but to no avail. I know that there have been other cases such as mine and i have tried researching it in the forums but with no sure solution. Please advise as to how i should proceed.Thank you in advance

Well ok news flash.I went outside to an internet cafe and put it in normally in a usb and after 2 hours it charged fully and lasted fully for the battery time. This still doesnt explain though why when i used two different cables and two different wall chargers it wouldnt charge when it used to.(P.S.: I am in an army camp thus the reason i cant rely on a PC socket being available)Thanks in advance

  • IPod wont charge from firewire but other ipod will

So we have two iPod classics 4th gens i got the second one of ebay, it charged fine at first but now when connected to usb it says "CHARGED" upon disconnecting from the charger it has no battery left and proceeds to shut down. It is the same with firewire but when connected nothing happens, the usb connector works with my computer fine and you can sync and remove songs as you please.
The first iPod has no problems with the two chargers.
Please can someone give me an idea what is wrong with the device so i can fix it, or get another device.
    Thanks

    Well,
You probably didn't have iTunes open (if that's where it syncs from).
If that' right, then when you want to charge or sync from your iPod, make sure iTunes is open.
This should help, but if you already did this, I'm sorry. I have no advice.

  • IPhone wont charge from laptop anymore but otherwise connects just fine

How do I charge my iPhone from my laptop?

Hmmm, I'd try to see if it can connect to another computer. Try the library, a public college, etc., just to see if it can do anything, to rule out the issue being your computer.
If it cannot connect to any other computer, then it'd be an issue with your iPhone.

  • My ipod wont charge at all and there is a continuous charging sign when plugged in ? what can i do

my ipod wont charge at all and there is a continuous charging sign when plugged in ? what can i do

    - Have you tried differnt cable/USB port?wall chargers
    - Have you tried resetting it:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - When you connect it you computer doe you se the iPod in iTunes?  If yes I would try restoring it.  First from backup and then to factory defaults.
    - You may have a battery or hardware problem and thus an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store may be in order.

    Try:
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Iphone 6 wont charge from macbook pro

Hello, i usually charge my iPhone 6 from my Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro, lately the phone just wont charge from the macbook, i tried different cables but it still wont work.
The iPhone charges from the wall adapter with the same cable but my Macbook doesn't.
I tried restarting both the iPhone and the macbook, which didn't help..
Anyone have any idea on how to fix this issue?

iPhones require their own charger which came with it because the computers' USB ports do not supply enough power to charge the phone's battery.

  • IPod will charge from Windows 8 Laptop but won't connect to iTunes

I have a 4th Gen iPod 32GB that's about two years old or so. After upgrading to iTunes 12, I could not get my device to so much as charge from my laptop, never mind sync. So after screwing around the control panel and trying to figure this out on my own (because frankly, Apple isn't very helpful) I was able to get the iPod to charge from the laptop, however it still will not even show up on the top left menu bar as seen in the picture. I've tried using the old shut down and restart method, recovery mode, swapping USB ports and cables, even uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Still nothing. So I try it on my Mom's desktop (Windows 7) (iTunes upgraded to 12 there also), and it registers my iPod and it will sync just fine. I've looked at other community threads and the ones I've found are two years old and the advice didn't work for me anyway. Normally, I would just use the desktop iTunes instead but its a completely different library and I've already purchased songs that I want to put on the iPod. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions?
