I bought a new, larger external hard drive. I have my iTunes library on the external drive instead of C: drive, Using Windows 7.
I copied my itunes library from the old drive to the new one, changed the libarary location in Edit/Preferences/Advanced to the new drive.
iTunes will not start or run unless the old hard drive is plugged in.
If I disconnect the old drive iTunes shuts down.
Any ideas. ??

Thank you for providing so much information about what is going on. It sounds like you have setup iTunes to save new content to your new external hard drive in iTunes>Preferences, but it sounds like iTunes is not opening iTunes Library.itl file on the new external drive. You have one last step to take to have iTunes point to your new external hard drive rather than your old one:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
You should see the following screen:
Additional information
If you do not see the screen above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.
Once you select "Choose Library," you will need to navigate to the iTunes Library.itl file on your new external drive.

Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

Checked task mgr and firefox was not running. shut down and tried again. Unchecked the "read only" at user profile, again shut down to try again. I was not able to do any other fixes (start in safe mode, disable extensions) as I got no response. Internet explorer is able to start and access the web.

A pretty common thing for computers that have been shipped is a RAM chip becoming dislodged just enough to cause what you are describing. Try re-seating your RAM chips. Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

ITunes will not start, despite iPhone and/or iPod being plugged in

I've noticed that just recently my iTunes doesn't open when I connect my iPhone 3G or my video iPod to their docks.
I have the latest version of iTunes and both devices have the latest software installed. The 'Open iTunes when this iPod is attached' box is checked for the iPod, and the 'Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected' box is checked for the iPhone. Yet despite this, when I place either device in their respective docks nothing happens, iTunes refuses to open. If iTunes is already open, then it recognises both devices and starts to sync them.
I've looked in the startup entries and the Apple sync notifier, iTunes Helper and the QTTask are all ticked, so I'm wondering what's wrong. Any ideas?

My program for Itune won't work as well. I tried several times double clicking the icon which should not be like that. I am not sure what is interfering the program.
I hope you can help me get through this issue. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the program but it won't respond properly. Anybody can give me few reasons on this?

Mail and Safari will not start after running MacCleanse

Yesterday, Mail crashed and a log of what happened was automatically sent to Apply. When I click on the program icon, nothing happens, same with Safari. Im in the process of restoring everything with Time Machine, but it seems to be stalled, as TM has been calculating the remaining time to restore for the last ten minutes. Any ideas?

Don't be surprise with programs like MacCleanse, MacKeeper and all those similar programs. It do more harm than good.
Come back here after you clean up those programs, search this forum about all these snake oil products.

My disk drive says that it has one change of region left, as it should do, however my dvd player software will not change it back and does not respond, how can i solve this problem?

Basically, everytime i try to runa DVD it comes up with the select disc drive region option. I select the region of europe over north america and press change and then the dvd application doesn't respond. Is there anything i can do to solve this without going to see Apple.

USBed itunes library from windows 7 comput to windows 8.1 comput, will not open "does not support .itl files" gave me a list of programs to choose from, could not find one to work

New laptop with 8.1, Used USB to transfer itunes library from windows 7 computer into My music on 8.1, cannot get it to play, I get the usual does not support extension itl message and a list of programs, a few of which I tried with no luck. songs are a mix of CDs and amazons, no songs actually bought from apple, but player dashboard is itunes. Just direct wired transferred to Droid phone and it worked first time.

Run profilemanager and delete old profile - create new profile - click run firefox from profile manager and firefox opens.
Close firefox and try to reopen. Will not open. Follow above procedure again and foerefox opens until closed them will not open.

Thanks for your help. I had tried starting Firefox in safe-mode before I posted this request, but it did not work. I tried to restore the system to an earlier version, but that made everything worse. Two accounts were unusable and one sort of worked, so I reloaded the operating system and now firefox works, for how long, I don't know. But thanks again for your suggestion.

Canoscan Lide 200 will not start

After upgrading to Yosemite, when I plug in my USB-driven Canon scanner (into my Macbook Air from 2010) I get an error message advising that "a problem" occurred. Anyone else finding that a Canoscan Lide scanner will not start in Yosemite? Any suggestions as how to fix this situation? Thanks in advance.

I was having a similar problem after upgrading to Yosemite with a USB CanoScan LiDE 700F. Don't think I had to install any drivers under Mavericks. Under Yosemite it just appears dead. Nothing ever happens. But, did see this error in Console whenever I plugged in the scanner. Then via a search found the above post.

In your case, it would be better to have transferred the library to an external drive from the PC. Then, connect it to the iMac and put the library onto the Music folder.
You used Migration Assistant, and it creates a new user with the transferred data.
Open  > Log Out, and log in the new user. Then, open a Finder window, choose Music in the sidebar and you will see the iTunes library. Now, you have to move the iTunes library to /Users/Shared (select Go menu -in the menu bar- > Go to Folder, type that and copy the iTunes library to it). Finally, log in the other user, go to the same folder and move the library to the Music folder.
After doing that, open System Preferences > Users and Groups, choose the user created by Migration Assistant and press the - button to remove it. This is easier if you have an external drive

Recently moved itunes/iphoto libraies to new, larger external hard drive...

Had large itunes/iphoto libraries that had resided on an external hard drive connected to my imac. These were backing up to a time capsule. Recently moved both libraries to a new, larger external hard drive. When Time Machine goes to back up, it is now trying to back up everything again, not just anything that is new. This is about 300 GB of music/movies/photos that were already backed up, and it is now trying to completely backup all this again. 2 300 GB backups will take up a lot of my TC. Should I just let it go? Do I have a possible issue with space? Just want to be sure I do the right thing....
