If your husband had iCloud setup on the phone and was backing up to it, then he could restore from his iCloud backup.
He can check for a backup in the Settings of his iPhone.
iOS device
Tap Settings, and then tap the iCloud icon.
Tap Storage & Backup.
Tap Manage Storage.

I upgraded my phone yesterday and backed up my o;d one beforehand. When i have come to transfer everything onto my phone it hasn;t restored from the last back up. Can anybody help??

HT1766 back up problem

Hello, I'm getting a back up error message for the past week and don't know how to correct this, any help will be appreciated.
Error message is "Itunes could not back up the i-phone because the back up was corrupt or not compatible with the i-phone, delete the back up for this iphone then try again.
How can I delete the back up??

You cannot go back. Downgrading is not supported by Apple.
Note: iOS 6.1.4 was only for the iPhone 5.

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

And try a Reset all settings ...
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

I am trying to back up my phone to my computer. I have an old version of windows so it won't allow me to access the cloud.
I am trying to back up using itunes however the "file, devices, back up" is gray and im unable to click on it
suggestions?

The camera roll is contained in an iTunes backup but you cannot view the pictures in the backup without special third party software on your computer.
If you wish you can load the camera roll photos to your computer by connecting it to your computer and have the iPad recognized as a camera.

Additionally, restoring the data may take some time depending on how much data was on your old phone. Even if your phone becomes responsive and available to use, data may still be transferring over. Verify that all the data is transferred over before disconnecting your new iPhone.

If you want to backup the SMS and transfer to a new phone,then backup in iTunes (since you cannot use iCloud on the 3G) and then restore the new phone from the backup of the old phone.
