HT1766 Can I bypass my passcode?  I have a frozen screen.

My iPhone 5 is frozen, I did the hard reboot and am trying to sync/back up on itunes but need to enter my passcode in order for the backup to take place.  Any ideas?  I am headed to the apple store shortly, but I am convinced there has to be an easy fix to this.

Which passcode? The screen lock code, your Apple ID passcode, the backup encryption passcode, the Restrictions passcode, or the SIM lock passcode?
The general answer is you need the passcode. There is no way around this. If there was the iPhone would have no security.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

  • TS2401 How can you bypass the passcode screen if you forget the passcode number. This is a first for me in the 4 years I have had it???

I changed the passcode to my phone a couple of days ago and for the life of me can't figure out what it is.  I need to get into the phone but don't know how without resetting the phone to origional setting.  If I do this I will not have a phone at all can anyone help.  This is a special situation.  The phone is not on a network that carries it this is why I can't reset to origional setting.  HELP

If you forgot your passcode, restore the phone from backup on the last computer your phone was synced with... this will remove the passcode.
If you do not have access to the last computer the phone was synced with, you will have to force the phone into recovery mode & restore as a new device.

  • My nephew doesn't remember the yahoo I'd that he used on his iPad mini. How can I bypass this?

How can I bypass this to reset the iPad?

Your statement makes no sense at all. Your nephew's Yahoo ID - whatever that is -  has no bearing on whatever you are trying to do to reset the iPad.
If the iPad is locked/disabled and you can't remember the passcode, you have to restore it in order to unlock it. There is no way to bypass anything with regard to security features on the device. If you could bypass a security feature, what good would the feature do?
Maybe this will help. But of this isn't what you are asking about, post back with more information.

  • HT4623 Can't get past passcode/or restore iphone

Hi. Just installed 7.02 and though it'd be fun to put in a password using a greek keyboard.  So I added the keyboard, then entered the old password twice, then added the new passcode using the greek keyboard, and now the phone won't recognize the new passcode.  Also, when I try to erase to old setting or restore a previous backup, it tells me I have to turn off "find my iphone" which I can't do because I can't bypass the passcode to do that.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks

  • How can i override my passcode on my iphone? i cracked my screen and cant back it up without entering a passcode

How can i override my passcode? i cracked my screen and im tryint to back up my phone and it wont let me without my passcode being entered but my touch screen is not responding

You won't be prompted for the passcode if you plug it in and sync/backup using the computer you normally sync with (assuming the passcode was set before the last time you synced).
Have you ever synced/backed it up?
If you have not, or you set up the passcode since the last sync, or the computer it was synced with is unavailable, then you're out of luck. You can't back it up.
If you set up back up to iCloud, plug it in to power overnight in a place where it can connect to WiFi and cross your fingers.

  • How can I change my passcode?

On my IPod 4 G i cant remeber my passcode to get in and I tried re synching but it dosnt give you much detail on how to do it so please explain etc thanks

Well, since you can't remember your passcode, you have no choice but to restore the iPod.
Follow the instructions at the link I posted before for restoring your device.

If you can't do this yourself, take the iPod to an Apple store or Apple certified repair provider.

    LOST PASSCODE
You should be able to remove the passcode by restoring the device. Do the following:
    Connect the device to the computer to which you normally sync;
Open iTunes (Note: If iTunes prompts you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes" in http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212 )
Right-click the device in the left column of  iTunes and select Back up (read this article on how to restore http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 )
When the backup is complete, select Restore
When finished, restore from your most recent backup
To restore read the restore section in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If that doesn’t work you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • HT1212 I got "ipad is disabled, connect to itunes". I have never synced my ipad with itune and don't have a backup. how can I bypass this message without restoring the device. I have many articles on my ipad that I can not afford to loose.

I have upgraded my ipad2 to the latest ios. shortly after this message came up: "ipad is disabled, connect to itunes". I have never synced my ipad2 to itunes and don't have any backup. Is there any way to bypass this without restoring the device? I have many articles on "iAnnotate" that can not afford to loose.

You can't bypass it, you will need to connect iPad to a computer's iTunes, and you may need to put it into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad, which will remove all content from it.
You haven't been backing up to the cloud either, and/or keeping copies of important documents/files elsewhere e.g. on your email account, Dropbox etc ?
