HT1766 Error Message...iPad not backed up.
I am trying to set up a new iPad for Christmas and keep getting this message. "This iPad has not been backed up. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wifi."
You click OK and the message just comes back over and over again. You can't get to any icons. I really need some help to get this set up before Christmas!
This should make that message for away.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
But why you are getting this on a brand new out of the box iPad is a mystery to me .... Unless you have already been using the iPad.

try this
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute). -

I am getting a message "iPad Not Backed Up". When I click on "ok" on the message, nothing happens - it is locked. Thought turning off the iPad would help but because it is locked, it won't let me slide to power off.
Have you tried plugging the iPad into power and letting it backup over Wi-Fi?
You should be able to reset your iPad. -

If you are stuck on that screen and can't get out of it, reboot the iPad.

Assuming that you have iCloud backups turned on .... go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Backup Now. -

Tim Machine: no error messages but not backing up
My Time Machine does not seem to back up any more as it should.
There are no error messages, Time Machine is switched on, spinning once an hour, there is enough space on the external HD. I can enter Time Machine and browse through the history.
However,
• When I go back to 14 JUN, it shows me files modified today (17 JUN). Shouldn't this be impossible?
• When I go to the corresponding folder on the HD, I can see a version of the file in question that was modified on 11 JUN, the day of the very first initial backup. I definitely know that it was modified on13 JUN, though.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Any fix?
Btw, I am switching back and forth between two different external HDs for Time Machine, which worked fine for a long time before things went funny a few weeks ago. Then I completely deleted the whole external HD and started Time Machine over but it seems this did not work (except for a successful initial backup).
I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8 on an iMac 7,1.I'm having this too, Nokia 6681 and most recent iSync... Contacts are working fine, Calandars are not.
Note that before latest revision Calandars were no problem... -
Error Message -- could not back-up the iPhone
I have had my iPhone over two years, with no problems. The last 3 times I have synced it to my iMac, I get an error message at the end saying: "iTunes could not back up the iPhone "iPhone" because the backup session failed"
However, it appears that everything is syncing properly, including apps I have downloaded, photos I have added, and movies from my camera. Any thoughts?Unfortunately, "because and error occured" doesn't give you much to go on. Some general things I would try if you haven't already:
Use Disk Utility on your mac to repair disk permissions, then reboot and try backing up again.
Use Finder to go to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/, then control-click on the Backup folder and select Get Info, then check Sharing & Permissions at the bottom and make sure your username has read & write priviledges
Try closing all apps, then reset your phone: double-tap the home button, tap and hold the apps at the bottom until they wiggle, tap the minus sign on all apps to close them. Then reset your phone: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), and release
Try a different usb to dock connector cable; ensure that your case isn't interfering with a good connection to the dock connector at the bottom of your phone; clean the dock connector at the bottom of your phone (e.g., with a dry toothbrush); troubleshoot your usb connection (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286)
I know this looks like a laundry list, but unfortunately it's hard to isolate the problem without a clear error message. If the problem persists, you might try posting in the iMac or iTunes forums for other ideas. -

When I tap OK, nothing happens. The iPad is charged and on WiFi. There is no computer to plug it into for backing up. I cannot turn it off. When I am trying to update my iPad 2 via syncing it with my PC, I get the following error message: "iPad software update server could not be contacted." Any ideas?
Try rebooting your router and or cable modem. Unplug it/them for about 30 seconds and then plug back in. See if it works then. Reboot your iPad as well.
