HT1766 For some unknown reason, I cannot access the internet through my Wi-Fi connection, even in my own house with the computer on.  What shall I do?

I cannot access the internet with my Wi-Fi connection on my IPad2.  It began with my trying to reply to a message.  I then got a msg that I had the wrong password or user name.  Now I have no access and cannot get or send mail, or access the internet.  What shall I do?

If you have access to wifi router you may check its log and see what does it say...
Try set the router for no hidden and no password wifi and try to connect. If you iPad can connect then add password to wifi settings on the router and try to connect again... etc...

  • For some unknown reason my app for Remote no longer works.  It says it cannot find my itunes.  I have tried to remove it and signed out and back in all that jazz but it didnt help.  Anyone else have a solution for this?  Thx.

For some unknown reason my application "Remote" no longer works.  I deleted it from my phone.  Signed out of Itunes and back in.  Turned back on home sharing and all that jazz but it says it cannot find my itunes library.  Is anyone else having this problem and if so how did you fix it?  Thx.

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • HT1311 For some unknown reason I have two Apple ID/Accounts in operation which is causing an issue. How do I completely delete one of these Accounts?

For some unknown reason I have two Apple ITunes/ID Accounts in operation.
How do I completely delete one of these Accounts?

I have a similar situation.. in my case, I started using an Apple ID a while back, then when MobileMe was introduced, I got an account there, and somehow that is the account that is mostly used when making updates or purchases.
Sometimes when making updates, it prompts me for the PW for one account, and sometimes for the other.
This is a real pain - is there anyway both these accounts can be consolidated into one?  When I asked an Apple rep, I was told 'no', but they have been known to make mistakes when giving advice.  So, is there a way?  Technically, I don't see this as a problem.. but Apple seems to be of the opinion that this would lead to having apps 'shared' amoung users. I think all that would be necessary if for me to provide the necessary proof that both accounts are indeed mine, and not belonging to someone else.
If not, what about deleting the apps registered to one account, and then re-purchasing them with the other account?  To do this, I would need to identify which apps are registered to which accouts - is this possible? Most of my apps are free, but there are a few I paid for.. not many, so this possible solution might work and not cost too much.  Ideas?

Reboot everything.  Router, printer and pad.  If it used to work, it will again.  It just lost itself somewhere.

  • For some unknown reason, Itunes won't let me edit Audio info

So I recently synced 1891 songs to my iPhone 5. Whilst the process was completed successfully I noticed where in my itunes library all of the artists were organised accordingly. But suddenly, due to some kind of idiotic magic a lot of my music had missing information/wrong information. Oh well, this happens I thought placidly believing that all I had to do was fix the info myself. But lo and behold for some unknown reason Itunes won't let me edit any of the info of the music on my Iphone 5. Why? I don't know. But I know for a fact that none of the music is "Read-Only" because I check and I did the same process with the same files on a different computer. My new computer (currently using) is authorized and everything seems to be in order, I have no idea why this isn't working but some help would be appreciated. Please. I'm sick of having to read forum after forum after doing the simplest things on Itunes, please someone from Apple answer my question with efficiency, or create a less convulted program

Sounds like the ID3 tags are messed up on those songs.
iTunes imports using v2.2 tags. Convert the tags to v2.3 and try adding the artwork.
    Right-click > convert ID3 tags
Also, make sure they are not read-only files.

does not let me add text to my verizon website. This adding text feature works well on internet explorer. I can click on add text, the box opens up but I can not type in the box for some unknown reason. What can be done to correct this problem ...

I didn't search before, but "you are not alone" (the thread [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/747424 In Verizon's Sitebuilder for webpages, I can not edit text boxes when using Firefox. I do not have this problem if I use Internet Explorer. Is there a setting I can change in Firefox to correct this problem?] has 18 votes for "I have this problem, too).
I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.
If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.
If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.

  • ITunes 10.5 starts itself every few minutes for some unknown reason

iTunes 10.5 installed on a Vista system to perform the iPhone 5.0 iOS upgrade.  Now iTunes starts itself every few minutes for some unknown reason.  Exiting iTunes will close it (and, of course, remove it from the Task manager list of running applications), but in a while it will restart all over again.
    Thoughts?

  • HT1430 For some unknown reason my Apple ID password does not work when trying to down load books from the IBook or Nook Apps.  It also has stop work when trying to down load new Apps.  Any suggestions out their???

For some unknown reason, my Apple ID Password does not work when trying to down load IBooks, Nook books, or new Apps.  Everything else seems to work.  Any suggestions out their???

I appreciate the info and realize that the Nook App is not related to my Apple account but this too has stopped working.  My situation first started with the Nook App not down loading and then has now spread to my IBook and new app downloads.  I have checked into my ITunes account and the ID and password are correct  and at times when I am asked to submit my Apple password such as setting up this Apple Support Community the ID and password work.  My problem seems to be just with trying to use my ID and password when wanting to download new books or apps.  I can go into the IBook, Nook, and App stores and seemingly download an item but when clicking on the new book or app nothing happens and I get a message that states it can not get into the ITunes store and it wants me to either try again or cancel.  This message appears usually ten minutes after I have tried to make a purchase.  At other times when I attempt to download a book or app I lose the screen and the IPad goes into the opening screen.  Short of redoing my Apple account or deleting an app and attempting to reload the app (but this won't work because the App store won't load new apps) I don't have a clue what to do.

  • I have a Samsung HD TV and I purchased a Mini Display port to HDMI Adapter today. For some strange reason I get no display on my HD tv. I even tried switching a few HDMI cables and nothing popped up. I made sure my computer was updated. Help pls

I have a Samsung HD TV and I purchased a Mini Display port to HDMI Adapter today. For some strange reason I get no display on my HD tv. I even tried switching a few HDMI cables and nothing popped up. I made sure my computer performed all software updates, and I even tried calling Apple Support. They just told me to keep trying different hdmi cables and see if anything pops up. Does anybody know what the problem is? My HDMI cable is from "rocketfish" also my display port is too.

You may have the screen refresh rate set higher than the TV is generally able to track reliably. It may be able to get there most times, but occasionally loses sync because it is out of its nominal range.
I suggest you sit down with the manual for the TV and find out what resolutions at what refresh rates it intends to support through VGA, and make sure your screen settings are near (or below) those limits.

  • Icons changed for some unknown reason

I am working with an iBook running Jaquar with 512 mb of RAM. For some reason the icons for Mail, iPhoto and a couple of other applications have changed from their normal icons design to the design of a folder. I have to delete the icon, thinking they would default back to the original. This did not work. The icon on the dock is even a folder. The icon for the applicaiton is a folder. I have tried zapping the pram. I also repaired the permissions. That also did not help. I have not seen this problem before.
    Any solutions would be appreciated.

Your file association for pdfs got hosed [a technical term]. The easiest fix is to re-install Reader.

  • Can't install grub for some unknown reason!

I just tried to install Arch using a bootstrap on a desktop with two HDs.  I put Arch on the second part of the second HD.  That all went fine till it came to installing grub!  What an infuriating nightmare.  I've wasted about 2 1/2 hours on it and I am so angry I'm positively raging.
I still have no idea what went wrong.  Chrooting into the install was out because the devs aren't mounted so I used a livecd to boot into the part - running grub-install /dev/hda or /dev/hdb resulted in the same errors about "the second sector of stage 2 is unknown"
I only actually discovered there was an error cos I ran sh -x grub-install - without that this little gem:
    grep 'Error [0-9]*: ' /temp/grub-install.img.865
It would have totally passed me by and I never would have know grub was stuck in an infinite loop!
    So, any suggestions please?
    Basically the set up is:
    /dev/hda1 - WinXp
    /dev/hdb1 - swp
    /dev/hdb2 - /
    That's it, nothing complex

i havent had to do this but what if you booted from install cd as if to install but go directly to
edit config files type in the info you nedd then run install grub ?  just a far fetched thought
or boot from install cd to the root  ie vmlinuz root=/dev/discs/discX/partY  then mount /boot if its on seperate partition and any other
partitions you may have made /tmp /usr /sbin whatever if you installed lilo run it then boot up machine then run grub-install ,but before you run lilo though check lilo.conf that it installs to /dev/hdb
when booting up hopefully you can hit F8 or in my case hit esc then hit Ctrl  to pull up boot menu
to tell machine where to boot to tell it whatever is /dev/hdb if you want to leave whatever boot loader is on /dev/hda alone
chrooting can be a pain /dev/null no permissions or cant chroot no /bin/bash or whatever
chroot is a neat tool but can be a pain at times
    also check /boot/grub/device.map heres mine
    (fd0) /dev/fd0
    (hd0) /dev/hda
    (hd1) /dev/sda
    (hd2) /dev/sdb
    (hd3) /dev/sdc
you may be  missing something there i have had this problem of drives missing in this file

  • For some unknown reason a down load was interrupted (not paused) and i have 1.7 GB of a 4.7 GB file down loaded. How to resume?

I was down loading a 4.7 GB file (ISO image) and paused at 1.7 GB. When resuming I got a message that the file could not be saved. On trying to resume the down load, it starts from the beginning! On checking the directory I find that a 1.7 GB file exists on my disk. How do I down load the balance file. The OS is Open SUSE 11.2. Linux.

In Disk Utility, select the iPod (the device) in the sidebar.  So, if you see the iPod in the sidbar with a "volume" indented below the iPod, select the "device" (not the volume).
Go to the Erase tab to the right.  The choice for Format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  Name does not matter, because iTunes will rename it during the Restore.  Click Erase.
    it "flashed" out of itunes.
That may be an issue with the USB connection.  As a test, shut down (power off) the Mac.  Disconnect other USB devices including USB hub, except for standard USB keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  SInce this is a laptop, connect it to its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.
Connect the iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Note if there is any difference regarding the iPod not maintaining a connection.

  • For some unknown reason I have lost the ability to drag and drop in OS 10.7.5

I searched through the discussions and could only find entries pertaining to files that wouldn't release once picked up. I can'teven do that. I ran "Verify Disk Permisions" and am currently waiting for "Repair Disk Permissions" to finish. I could run Tech Tool Pro, am I missing anything? Why do I get the feeling I'll have to reinstall the OS? If I do, is it just a matter of reinstalling Lion or will I need to format the whole HD?
    Thanks,
    Carl

Take these steps if the cursor changes from an arrow to a white "prohibited" symbol when you try to move an icon on the Desktop.
Sometimes the problem may be solved just by logging out or rebooting. Try that first, if you haven't already done it. Otherwise, continue.
Select the icon of your home folder (a house) in the sidebar of a Finder window and open it. The Desktop folder is one of the subfolders. Select it and open the Info window. In the General section of the window, the Kind will be either Folder  or something else, such as Anything.
If the Kind is Folder, uncheck the box marked Locked. Close the Info window and test.
If the Kind is not Folder, make sure the Locked box is not checked and that you have Read & Write privileges in the  Sharing & Permissions section. Then close the Info window and do as follows.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo Desktop
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”). Quit Terminal.
    Relaunch the Finder.
If the problem is now resolved, and if you use iPhoto, continue.
Quit iPhoto if it's running. Launch it while holding down the option key. It will prompt you to select a library. Choose the one you want to use (not the Desktop folder.)

  • I need to change my icloud appleid but i cannot access my old login due to my email account being deleted by microsoft for some unknown reason.  I do not have the password for this ID any longer

is there a way to change my icloud login ID without the password assigned to that id

    Hi cozmac3,
It sounds like you may need to contact our Apple ID Security team to answer your security questions and reset your password.  Then you'll be able to edit your Apple ID.  Here are a few links for you:
Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667
    Change your Apple ID
Learn how to change the email address that you use as your Apple ID.
In most cases, your Apple ID is also the primary email address of your Apple ID account. You can change your Apple ID to any other email address you control, as long as it's not already in use as an Apple ID. If your email address ends with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com, it's already an Apple ID.
Use these steps to reset your Apple ID:
Sign out of iCloud, the iTunes Store, App Store, FaceTime, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, and iMessage on each device that uses your current Apple ID for these services.
    Go to My Apple ID.
Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in. Forgot your password?
Select Edit next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address.
Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID, then select Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now. Didn't receive the email?
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your new Apple ID email address and password. When you see a message that verification is complete, you can start using your updated Apple ID.
Update the features and services that you use with Apple ID, so that each one is using your updated Apple ID.
If you need to change the Apple ID that's signed in to your iOS device, use these steps to sign out, then back in with a different Apple ID.
    Cheers,
    - Judy
