Unplug your phone from the cable, turn the phone completely off, press and hold the HOME button and connect the cable until you see the iTunes graphic then release the button. iTunes will prompt you that it has discovered a device in recovery mode. Choose to restore. Hopefully you have a backup to restore from.

I contacted AT&T to unlock my phone (which they did on their end). I then backedup and restored my phone per apple's instructions. How can I tell if it is unlocked? I misssed the screen saying the phone is now unlocked. AT&T said to call apple and give them the IMEI number, but I can not seem to find a way to do this without paying money.
I leave for a trip to the UK in a week and I want the option to use a local SIM over there. I would like to figure out if my phone is unlocked as I will not have access to a computer over there. THoughts?

Try a SIM from any other carrier (borrow one from a friend).
Contact Apple support and ask them.
Restore the device again.

No Mac viruses are propagated through email.
Be vigilant for suspicious activity as you normally should be, but do not download or install some "anti-virus" utility in an effort to fix a problem that does not exist. That's a well-worn path to certain misery.

A backup is only for use in restoring your iphone. It does not contain all info like Contacts, itunes content,etc. You cannot go look at the backup information.

I received instructions from AT&T approving my unlock request and then instructing me to backup my phone and then restore it in ITUNES, at which point the phone would be unlocked. Is there some way I can tell this was actually successful ? I completed the procedure but don't see any obvious changes in the various information screens on the phone.

There is usually a delay of a couple of days between your receiving the acknowledgement from the carrier and Apple updating their activation database. I've had similar experiences with 3 other iPhones.

AFAIK there is no way that user can check unless this is done electronically to check status of each of the locks but I maybe wrong here. Screenshot from factory unlocked E72 although both Key Code Count and FBUS Count Code can be zeroed; Key Code Count would indicate if unlock code had been entered by user if not returned to zero:

Hi, I am also struggling to pin down whether we are on an EOL. The village is being upgraded via Connecting Cheshire, either end is going live imminently as are the surrounding villages in the area on our exchange, yet a strip right through the middle of the village encompassing four out of five local schools, all the major businesses and the majority of the residential premises won't be for some time. If there were no houses in the way I could probably read the signs on the outside of the exchange building here, but of course the cable route may go a different way. Please can I have some help to determine if our line is EOL? I have tried the various online tools with no luck (still clear as mud) and the 'about me' section of the mod's profiles appears to have the link I need disabled (do I need to be invited to use it in order to see it?)

If you use this checker it will tell what cabinet you are on and what services it can receive. If you do not have a cabinet number showing it will mean you are on an E/O line.

My phone was ringing and it showed that "Sophia" was calling. I don't know anyone by that name and was going to decline. The "decline" option was grayed out. I figured I'd let voicemail pick it up, but it never did. I eventually lost patience and answered. Someone was already talking on the other end in a foreign language. I immediately powered down my iphone. Is there some way I can find out if it's been hacked and clean it out without reseting everything?

Call your carrier and ask them to check the IMEI and ICCID numbers to make sure nobody's cloned your phone. If it only happened the one time it might simply be a fluke.

Hi, I have been trying to find out if my phone line is connected to the street cabinet or directly to the exchange as the checker says I am unable to get bt infinity. The house 2 doors away seems to be able to get it and having looked at the spreadsheet (google fusion table) it says that 42% of line on my postcode are enabled. Having worked in that part of the network for many years, I don`t think I remember any personal customers on EO cables.
Office blocks, or old established businesses in city centres, were the only ones. That would account for the 4%.
The lack of flexibility was the main issue with EO cables, with the volume of "churn" of domestic customers, it would not have been practical.

Make a backup of the old device and restore the new device to that backup. You will get an exact duplicate of the old phone.

iPhone 5c battery is not holding charge for more than 3-4 hours. It has gone completely dead twice in one day because of it. Battery says 100% at start. Apple Genius Bar help said that I'm only getting a soft charge or a partial charge and that is why the battery runs down so quickly. They recommended replacing my power cords. Problem is, I have charged it on 3 different cords and it doesn't seem to matter.
Took it to Apple store- they wiped it, let it die completely, recharged it to 100% overnight and still had trouble. Took it back, reloaded everything, phone died, let it charge overnight to 100% and today the battery is down to 40% after about 2 hours.

No problem.
If you took it to the Apple store and they troubleshoot it for you and you still have issues.
Better to get another phone.

Put in a Working Active SIM Card from a non-original phone carrier of this iPhone, if it makes cell calls then it is unlocked. If you want to challenge the unlock, then Restore the iPhone Firmware with iTunes on computer. If factory unlocked then my first sentence here will be correct. If not factory unlocked you will not even be able to activate unless you have Original Carrier SIM.
