HT1766 how do i backup my photos if I dont have iphoto?
Hi,
I can't download iphotos because I have OSX and iphoto is compatible with system X10.9.
What to do?
I really don't want iphoto anyway cuz it's clunky and I really don't want the new system software because it's too cool.
You can use Image Capture on the Mac to import the photos, or you can use a third party WiFi transfer app to move the photos to the Mac.
There are many such apps available in the App Store that will do this, but I use this one.

After? If you're being asked to restore you phone, and you didn't previously back it up, it's too late now. You can't back it up once it's in recovery mode.

The first and only piece of technology my father-in-law has ever owned is an iPad; how can he backup his photos and contacts in the event something happens to his iPad and needs to be replaced? He does not own a computer, just the iPad. Is any of this content in iCloud or iTunes or can be backed up there? Maybe an external device?
He should use iCloud. If he sets up an iCloud account, he will get 5GB of free storage which purchased content from the App Store and iTunes does not count against. His contacts and photos will count against the 5GB of storage but if he needs more space, it can be purchased at any time.
Many users have gone PC free and totally rely on iCloud now. It is very easy to setup on the iPad. Just tap on iCloud in the settings and follow the prompts. Read all of thses for more information.

If you don't have a backup, then all your pics/text/notes are gone.
You can sync back music and app. If you were syncing your contacts with a program in itunes, then you'll get that back.
Not sure why you didn't do a backup, especially prior to doing an upgrade. -

ThanksYou will have to use another application. Preview will do it. Set up iPHoto to use Preview as the editor of choice. Then double click on the thumbnail to open it in Preview, flip the image and save.
Using 2 Image Editors in iPhoto
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and a 3rd party editor without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected the 3rd party editor as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". Then when you Control-click on an image, you can select "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu to edit in your selected editor. -

Sorry, I just noticed, I made a mistake. "Image Capture" is in the Applications folder, not Utilities. And it may have a different name on your Mac, if your system language is not English: Look for the icon with the camera:
When Image Capture can import from your iPhone, spilt the folder with the imported photos in several small subfolders and try to import them separately to iPhoto. This way, you can identify a subset of photos with the corrupted one.
Then try to import from that small subset one by one, until you hit the culprit. And then delete that photo or video from the phone. -

That's half-correct. Direct access is supported.
Find the photo in iPhoto, then go to the "File" menu and click "Reveal in Finder" - it takes you directly to the image file. Or right-click on the photo, and choose "Edit in External Editor" which opens the original file in other software, like Photoshop, if you have it.
And it's dangerous to move, rename or delete the original file or folders after you found it, but safe to do other things. -

a while back my computer crashed (hard drive and motherboard:/) im a DJ so its kinda a big thing. my mom has a computer whith itunes on it, i signed on with my account but how do i get the music back. i dont have it on any device, just the hard drive that crashed. can someone please helped i put soooooo much money into those songs a good 4,000 $

You need to Authorize your Mom's computer to your iTunes sign on. Sign on to iTunes, then go to Store at the top of the screen, and select Authorize this Computer.
Then you can download your purchases from your iTunes library by going to the iTunes Store (the one in the sidebar), Music, and then under Quick Links, Purchased.
Once the Purchased window comes up, select "Not on this Computer", and then select All Songs. Your purchased songs will display with a cloud next to them, and you can download them selectively or "Download All" (lower right-hand corner).

When i first synced my iphone it synced around 3000 photo's. It now wont ley me sync my phone at all as i need the new ios version but because of the photo's i dont have enough space but i cant delete the photo's because my phone wont sync. HELP PLEASE!!
Use iPhone as designed. Like any digital camera, download your photos to your computer and delete from the iPhone to create space required for iOS upgrade.
