I-cloud only backs up my contacts - no pictures, etc. I've read and followed the instructions on how to back up. When I log in to icloud, all I see is my contacts - nothing else. I'm switching to a new phone and wanted to restore everything on my new phone - only to find out that I-cloud doesn't have my informaiton. Can someone help me?

I thought you said you read that support article? The ONLY photos included in any iPhone backup are photos in your camera roll. No iTunes content...music, apps, etc., is included in any iPhone backup. After you restore from backup, you must either sync to restore your iTunes content or re-download it.
The contents of any iPhone backup are not viewable or editable.

I never found an answer to that (Verizon would back up about 15-20% of my contacts) so on my Android I just use Google drive for files and pics and use my gmail to backup contacts.

It definitely sounds strange that you haven't been able to get all of your 160 contacts backed up. When you log into your My Verizon account, are you able to view the contacts there? Please let me know, thanks.

Only if a backup of the iPhone with all that data on it exists. If one does, restore the iPhone using that backup.

I turned on the cloud to back up my notes, calendar, contacts etc. When I turned on contacts it asked if I wanted to merge, which to me means combine, but when I went back to my contacts all of the A contacts and B contacts were there, but nothing else. How do I get them back.

Sorry but I'm a bit confused about what you're asking. You seem to be indicating that you have an iCloud backup as well as a backup on your computer but it isn't clear to me what you are trying to do with them. Can you explain this?

Hi - I bought a nokia 300 because I can't use my smartphone at work, I have downloaded Nokia PC suite and transferred my data from my faithful but dying E51.....I uploaded the data onto the Asha 300 and it was apparently successful according to PC suite, the phone says it has all 670 contacts, but I can't access any. Time Machine not backing up iPhoto changes (Events, pictures, etc..)

So I finally decided to buy a external hard drive (WD) and backup some of my data to it using Time Machine. The initial backup went well with no problems but what I noticed is as I added events and pictures they were not appearing in Time Machine.
I could open time machine and view that my iPhoto had the current events when the date selected was "Today (now)", but as I went back in time the events that SHOULD of been there were not.
Browsing the folders on the backups showed the iPhoto database to be 13.5gb when actually the new size on my iMac was 19.5gb.
So why does Time Machine not detect these changes? For my backups I have excluded all folders except for the Users folder which contains the iPhoto library. Time Machine is not detecting the changes and backing it up. How can I fix this?

Because I was doing that earlier. But then realized I did repair permissions, not disk. But anyways decided to reboot (because I haven't up to this point).
Once it came back up I tried doing another backup. Didn't see it. Opened iPhoto again and exited it (checked Force Quit to make sure it wasn't open). Told it to do a BACKUP NOW. This time it saw a difference of like 7mb.
After it was done, went to iPhoto -> File -> Browse Backups. Went back a couple minutes when I did the backup and my event now has a place holder within the Events but it is pure black. I double clicked the event and it opened up and saw there were 3 files in there. They had default icons and were not showing as pictures like they were. (even though they display fine in iPhoto).
Time Machine seems very flakey to me. My machine is fully updated also.

Backup Assistant is Only Backing Up Half of My Contacts

Good afternoon...in preparation for receiving a new phone, I wanted to make sure backup assistant had captured what I wanted. I found out that Backup Assistant is only saving, literally, half of my Contacts list. I have 64 contact numbers, not including all of the Verizon # numbers, but Assistant is only listing 32.
As a precaution I am going ot try and download everything to my computer and save in the hopes I can then transfer everything to the new phone.
Any ideas on why I am not getting a full backup?

Backup Asst Plus and Cloud will not backup all contacts...Why?

I have 1,000+ contacts on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Verizon Backup Assistant and Verizon Cloud will only back up 8 contacts when I sync. They are the various Verizon numbers plus a couple of contacts that I have entered. Does anyone know how to make all the contacts sync?

Do yourself a huge favor. Ditch Backup Assistant altogether and use Google to backup your contacts.

I was trying to send photos from my iPhone 4 to iPad 2 and must of had done something wrong because all my contacts were lost and more importantly for me are pictures ( they were too deleted.) I tryed to back up but all I was able to get back were the contacts and pictures from 4 months ago when I synced in my iPhone to the computer. Your entire second paragraph is so confusing I am going to ignore it.
But I may be able to answer your first and third paragraphs, which seem to address the same question.
I wonder where your iPhone states it was backed up yesterday. I am going to assume that you see this under Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
If that is true, then the backup from yesterday is in iCloud. The one and only way to restore an iCloud backup is to do this on your iPhone:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
That will cause your iPhone to begin a setup process. As part of that process, assuming you enter the same Apple ID you used when you created the iCloud backup, you will be offered the opportunity to restore from it.
