I have a Windows PC with iTunes and an iPod Touch. I also have a Verizon MiFi. I would like to be able to sync music to two locations. Would the Airport Extreme accomplish this, and if so, are there step-by-step instructions somewhere?
No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

New iPod Touch - restore from backup of (2nd gen?) iPod touch
Am buying the new iPod Touch w/additional features - camera, hi-res, quicker processor, etc. - than the (2nd) Gen Touch which I bot June 2009. Run on iMac, all software currently "up-to-date" - want to just transfer over all of my apps, music, data (within iPod apps), MobileMe links, Mail links, etc - from old device to new device. I'd also like to "wipe" the old device in order to give it to someone else without giving them access to my information. Anyone out there give me a "link" to get instructions on this? When I do my own searches in "support manuals" - I get a ton of non-applicable links....
Backup and restore:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Erase all content and settings is covered in the manual as well as backup and restore:

Is it possible to share a backup with different generations of iPod touch?
For example, if I bought a new iPod touch 3rd generation and I want to put the backup of my old iPod touch 2nd generation. Is this possible?

As per the title, the problems are getting quite serious and annoying.
I have an issue with the Bonjour service not being recognized (mDNSresponder.exe doesn't appear to be running) and consequently sharing not working, an inability to connect to the iTunes store (as shown in the above diagnostic report), and an inability for iTunes or my laptop to recognize the iPod Touch. On any other PC here, it's perfectly fine.

As you can see, there are many problems here. Quicktime is apprently unavailable, when it's installed. iTunes doesn't recognize me as an administrator, when the account is indeed an admin (and can perform administrative actions).
Connection to the iTunes store is unsuccessful, when iTunes is enabled in the windows firewall. All the services iTunes needs to run, are running successfully. The sole exception being Bonjour, which iTunes doesn't seem to realize is running. I've verified the service to be running, and have restarted it. Additionally, mDNSresponder.exe is not running under task manager. Manually starting it from Bonjour's file directory doesn't work, either. I've changed my "hosts" file, and still no luck. I've also changed a couple of Internet Explorer internet properties, and the unsuccessful connectivity doesn't change. I've reinstalled the whole line of Apple software, without a change in results. Reboots are just as unsuccessful.
Ultimately, my problem is neither iTunes nor Windows recognizes my iPod Touch, whereas my old Nano used to work fine. On other computers, iTunes is fine. The problem is on this one, and whether it's an Apple or Windows problem, I don't know. Hopefully someone here can help me out, as I would be immensely appreciative. One step forward?
I'd like to doublecheck something you mentioned earlier:
I've verified the service to be running, and have restarted it. Additionally, mDNSresponder.exe is not running under task manager.
When you were in the processes tab, did you have "Show processes from all users" checked, as per the following screenshot? (mDNSresponder.exe runs under SYSTEM, so you don't see it in there unless that box is checked.) -
Error with iTunes Account and iPod Touch
A few weeks ago, I tried to download an app, and after typing in my password, nothing happened, so i returned to the App Store, and downloaded it again. Suddenly, every app I had ever downloaded on my iPod appeared on the iPod's screen, and began to install one by one. After a day of waiting for it to finish, I deleted them all. Then, a window popped up asking me for my password, which I clicked "cancel" to. Then, it downloaded every app again. After a few days, it would download three or so apps at a time, and sometimes would reload (meaning, it took an app I already had installed, and downloaded it again, removing the original icon). Now, it will only sometimes reload an app. However, the window asking for my password constantly pops up, and no matter how many times I enter my password or click cancel, it won't stop happening. (These pop ups occur about 10-15 minutes apart). I've tried restoring the ipod and logging out of the account, but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?bump

my iphone 4 had went black and now it wont turn back on i was jsut texting on it a few mins. ago then when i went to check my texts it was black i tried holding the power button down but that didnt work can someone please help
Hi alicia243,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone wont power on, I recommend going through these steps first:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Best,

This is usually a symptom that the phone was hacked/jailbroken. Was it?

I recently had to send my old iPhone back and get a new one. When I did, I simply did a restore and backup with my computer. When I did that, my iMessage between my iPhone and iPad are no longer synced. No matter how many times I went to settings, messages and adjusted it, my iPad and iPhone recognize when I send a message out but not when I received a message from another IMessage user to my iPhone. My iPad simply doesn't get those messages. HELP!!!!
If it's corrupt, generally it would be lost.
However, there is third-party software out there that can retrieve some of the data, those of which however I could not recommend as I have never done so myself.
Also, if the old 4S was running a more recent software version than the current 4S, that may cause the issue however usually iTunes tells you exactly that.
Good luck in retrieving that information. -
HT1766 when restoring the backup from itunes the iphone refuse the request
When restoring the backup from itunes the iphone refuses the request. How to restore to its original OS version?
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer
iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
Also... See Here > Configure security software -
my song forgot his password. I reformatted as described above but when i went to restore from backup it asked me for the password again! now what?
Then you or your son has encrypted the backup in iTunes. This password is 100% whatever you or him put in when you turned on to encypt backups (its a check box in iTunes) and it has nothing to do with that code that was on the iPhone (unless by chance he decided to make it the same thing).
Anyhow, you can guess at an encryption password as many times as you like. Since it's a local encryption, there is no way to reset it. You either get it right eventually and then the restore will complete and you can turn if off in iTunes after that (using the password that worked), or the backup will never be usable without the password.
Keep trying to guess it until you give up, then just move on with setting the iPhone us as new.
Read this article. It has some stuff that may help you. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5162
