HT1766 Restore from iCloud
I couldn't restore data to my new iPhone 5 from iCloud without downloading iOS 6.1.2 first. I no longer have the option to use the set up assistant - how do I restore my apps/data etc?
On your iPhone 5: Settings.General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Try now.

I had a new handset delivered today due to my old one being damaged. As I went to restore from iCloud backup it is telling me I can't due to the handset not having iOS 7.1. How can I resolve this issue?
Could I select 'Set up as New IPhone' and then update to iOS 7.1 and then proceed to restore the phone from my most recent iCloud backup ?
Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.Hi again razmee209!
It has been updating since your last message and it says there's another 6 hours to go, does this sound right or is there a possibility I've been sent a re-con and the update will slow down my new handset considerably?! -
I have chosen the restore from iCloud and the phone has now restarted to complete the restore. It has been 3 hours and the progress bar has not moved. I have now tried to reload again by holding the sleep etc, to no avail
If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone. If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes. The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup. Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences. On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.
Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to sync to your phone and sync. -

Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Erase All Content and Settings

These instructions are quite vague. A lot more goes into restoring from iCloud, this article requires more detail, more is better, less is not!
Well, they are step by step on how the process works.
Maybe the issue is not the article but rather the person that cannot follow them? -

Camera Roll not restoring from iCloud back-up
Due to an extremely large amount of "other" on my iPhone 5 I decided to reset / delete and restore from iCloud. Camera roll IS turned on in my cloud back-up, and I backed it up just before reset / delete phone.
When I restore from iCloud back-up everything works perfectly except my camera roll reloading. It just continues to say 'Downloading" (with the little circle thing going round & round) with no change or progress. It never says "downloadng xx of xxx" or anything like that. The photo stream has restored with no problem.
I hope I can restore the camera roll because it has videos that aren't saved anywhere else, but if not how the heck do I stop the "downloading..." at the bottom of the camera roll folder and get on with my life? Any help will be much appreciated.Actually I posted here only after trying ezjules suggestions No luck. Even stranger is that even after I "stopped restoring" my camera roll is acting the same,; still says Downloading at the bottom. Strange.. Here is a screen shot after I have stopped the restore in settings.

Hi
My phone is stuck in restoring from icloud after 4 days. I have tried restarting it and if I try to cancel backup it says data will delete data
Please help!!!,There is no way out.
Restart the restore procedure and make sure you are connected to the wall power adapter and have Internet connection.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
At the end it will ask whether you want to restore, choose iCloud backup. -
just replaced my iphone 4 with new 4. restore from icloud is hung on an app I no longer use (password probably expired) how can i get the restore to move on to the next app
Read another post in the forum about this and it appears this app also installs a profile with a proxy service that you will have to try and delete as well. Check that out.

Hello
Today I got my iPhone 4s changed from sprint and when I enter my icloud information it gives me an old backup (196 days old) and I back up automatically all nights , there was no choice to select which one I wanted or anything. So I ended up loosing a lot of important information, all the pictures and everything that I did the past 196 days. I try to see if there is a place on the web that the back up data is displayed but I haven't found anything. I have a lot of important information on icloud, to the extend that I even pay for more space because I use the iPhone as part of my work. Can someone please explain to me what has happen and if there is a way that I can recover my information? I am desperate it is very important. Thank you very much!
FransuasOnce in a while the restore process seems to mess up. What I don't understand is why you would perform a weekly restore.
At any rate, if you must restore, perform a device reset (settings>general>reset) and then you will have the opportunity to restore from iCloud. Restore a device whenever it no longer works correctly, not just as a matter of maintenance. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. -
Last night as I was setting up the pin I got distracted and entered the wrong one, now I can't access my phone as I don't know what I entered. Is there anyway around this or do I have to wipe my phone and sign in with my Apple ID and restore from icloud??
I can't ask for help on chat as I'm away from home and don't have the box with me, and obviously can't get the serial number in my phone as I've locked myself out!!
Any help will be much appreciated!!https://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212

HT201418 After restoring from iCloud to new device - strange Apple ID popup on the phone
I have change my iPhone 6 to 6+. I have done backup of the old iPhone to iCloud. When I started restore process - iOS system gave you a question with Apple ID (is this your Apple ID?) as always with strange one. I guess system is always giving suggestion to the Apple ID account latest backup was done to the nearest server of iCLOUD. Of course I have deleted this stranger Apple ID suggestion for restore and I have applied my own APPLE ID.
Restore took some time and was successful.
ISSUE - many times iOS want to connect to iTunes - pop up window is appearing having again suggestion of the same STRANGE Apple ID. It;s annoying and I do not know how to get rid out from my iOS.
I put my normal Apple ID with credentials into iCloud and iTunes setting on iPhone but still strange one pops-upYou probably needed to update the iOS on the new phone. When it's done, set it up as a new iPhone, then disconnect it from your computer. Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings (provide the password if prompted), go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

Point of view on running Mountain Lion on a late 2011 Mac Book Pro?
