HT1766 Restore iCloud Backup

Backup can only be restored on a new iOS 5 device? I cannot delete photos from my current iPhone and restore them later?

You should be importing your pics to your computer on a regular basis   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 then you can delete it from your phone and you can sync them back with iTunes whenever you want it back on your phone.

  • HT1766 Restore  iCloud backup using IOS7.1.1

I just receiver my new iPhone 5s and warnt to restere the content from my old iPhone 5 which i just udgravede to IOS 7.1.1 af we dat sagt.
After udgravninger the new phonenumber to 7.1.1 from 7.0.4 and resetting it to start ALL over Alain, i cannot log in to the iCloud server what ever i do......... Whats wrong?

A restore will automatically install the current version of iOS, so if you restore an iPhone with iOS 7.0.x, it will be upgraded to iOS 7.1 and the backup will then be copied over. Your new iPhone 5S, by the way, will come with iOS 7.1 unless it's old stock.
    Regards.

how do i restore icloud backup to an existing phone not a new device

You need to perform a reset (settings>General, scroll to bottom of screen).  This will delete everything on the device.  Then connect to iTunes and it will offer to perform a reset from either iTunes backup or iCloud.  Take it from there.

How to restore iCloud backups on a new phone?

The only way to access iCloud backups is to Erase all content and settings, go thru the setup assistant, and when prompted to restore from iCloud backup - choose that option.

  • I changed my appleID, it worked fine but now I can not restore icloud backup in a new ipad (old appleid does not work and it is grey colored so I'm unable to change it)

Some months ago I changed my email address and so my appleID. Everything worked fine, but last week my ipad broke and when I tried to restore my icloud backup in my new ipad it does not work: it asks me for the password of the OLD appleID (it doesnt work); and in icloud configuration page the field for appleid is colored grey so I can not change it.
any clues? thank you in advance

My suggestion is to change apple id back. I know it is not something you want to hear, but there are suppose to be ways around it and usually they work, but not right now. I suspect that is consequences of Apple getting their servers ready for ios7. Normally in your situation - you should be able to get all your stuff back, but apps, and then you can sync those or download from icloud. But lately (last week) it does not seem to work normal way.

  • Cant restore icloud backup

I lost my old iphone 4s and got a warranty replacement iphone 4s. However when I tried to restore a recent backup I made to the cloud it said that I could not do it because the old backup was on an older ios and the new phone was on a new ios. Is there any way that I can somehow restore this backup? Also I don't have any backups to itunes.

You must have read the error message incorrectly.  You can always restore a backup to a device running a newer version of iOS than the device that was backed up.  If your replacement phone is running the same or newer version of iOS as your old phone, you can restore the backup as explained here: iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud.  If it isn't, update it to the latest iOS and then restore the backup.

  • Is it possible to restore iCloud backup from iPhone3 to iPhone4 ?

I had an iPhone 3 which had an hardware error, but I have an older iCloud backup of it.
Now I got a used iPhone4 from a friend of mine, which he "cleaned" before he gave it to me.
This is the first time I got to use this service - thank god I made an iCloud backup before my old iPhone died.
Now I want to know if it is possible to restore my old iPhone 3 backup on my iPhone 4.
Maybe there are some problems, because of different iOS (6 vs 7) or different hardware?
Did the iCloud backup include my previously installed apps, or do I have to download them again? What about SMS - included or not?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Yes, you can.  The only requirement is that the device you are restoring the backup to must be running the same or higher version of iOS as the device that was backed up.  If it isn't, you'll need to update the iOS before you can restore the backup.
An iCloud backup will reinstall apps that were on the device that was backed up by redownloading them from the App store.  As long as the apps are still available in the App store they will be redownloaded, although if the device that was backed up had an older version of an app, the most recent version of the app is likely to be restored to your device.

  • How to restore iCloud backups earlier ios version to new phone with latest ios?

Does anybody know how to restore an icloud backup with i.os 7.1.2 version to a new iphone5 with ios 7.0.4 version?
    thanks

Set up the phone as a new phone, not from the backup. Go to Settings > General > Software Update, and perform the update. Then go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings to repeat the setup, and this time choose Restore from backup.

  • Restoring iCloud Backup

I need to restore an iCloud backup from May 2012 as it contains a couple of videos that I have since accidentally deleted. Is it possible to view which backuos are still retained in my iCloud account?
I restored my iPhone 4s but could only see a couple of recent iCloud backups.
My iCloud backup backup file size is 1.4GB and my current camera Roll size is 405 mb so I'm hoping that the videos are still retained in old backup files?
Any help would be much apreciated
    Thanks

I have an old apple ID that I set up for mac.com when I got my Mac book pro in 2007.  The ID expired when my temporary use of Mac.com ran out. Now I upgraded to iOS 5 and when trying to sync my iPhone 4 to my Mac book it won't sync 17 of my tunes and says they will be lost.  I figured the 17 tunes must have been bought under my old expired Apple ID.   So I tried using the expired Apple ID.  Since I forgot the password to the old Apple ID I had to reset it.  I never got the reset email. I saw an unknown email address (partially redacted) during the reset process and it looks like Apple sent my reset email to another email address that I never had.  Has Apple lost track of our email address records?

  • Restore icloud backup

I have an Iphone 4s which I backup through icloud, unfortunately I lost this phone. I now have an iphone 3gs, can I restore my icloud backup to this phone?
I am worried if there would be issues because basically I now have an older model phone.

    Again:
If the 4S was running iOS 7.0 or higher, no, you won't be able to restore that backup to the 3GS.
Since the restore from backup is all or nothing, you won't be able to restore anything.

  • HT4859 Restore icloud backup to existing device

I need to learn how to restore my backed-up photos to my existing iPad from icloud.  Can anyone help me?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

  • Restore icloud backup to phone

How do I retore a backup in icloud to my iphone

Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process, which requires you to erase your phone.  If you have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below).  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.
