HT1766 the screen shows a pic of the usb plugging into the itunes logo
the screen is stuck on a pic of usb cord plugging into the itunes logo
That screen is telling you to start iTunes on the computer you normally sync with and then connect your iPad to that computer. Select your iPad in iTunes and follow the prompts to recover your iPad.

I have one HDMI port on my television that is currently used for my hard drive/free view box. What kind of adaptor can I buy so I can have the hard drive and my apple tv device plugged into the same HDMI PORT? Is it a switch or a splitter? And where is it best to buy one? Thanks!
Welcome to the Apple Community.
You need an HDMI switch. -
Hello Everyone,
This is my first time using the forum. My macbook battery will not charge. I have tried unplugging and doing an SMC reset but it did not seem to change. I have yet to try another magsafe charger. The charger has a dim green light while plugged into the computer. What should my next steps be, besides trying a new charger as well as being the most cost effective?
Thanks
-TBHi ..
The battery may need replacing.
Check the battery maximum cycle count > Mac notebooks: Determining battery cycle count

Hi, I was backing up my iPad 2 and it gave me an error message. Since then, my iPad has been dead or should I say, STUCK. The screen shows the iTunes image with an image of a USB cable under it with an arrow pointing towards the iTunes icon. I haven't been able to get it to unfreeze and when I connect it to iTunes, iTunes doesn't give me the option to Sync or Restore. It actually just goes into the iTunes Store section and I can't access the part I need. Please help! Thank You!!!!!
You may need to put the iPad in recovery mode to restore it.

The iPod won't work unless it's plugged into the AC Adaptor...
It only works when plugged into the AC Adaptor. Otherwise it is unresponsive. The hold button is definitely not on. When I plug it into the AC adaptor, a number of things happen:
1. The battery does'nt show the charging animation. It only stays full.
2. When I plug it into the AC adaptor, the apple logo pops up and the ipod seems to be reloading info for a sec...then it goes right into the menus.
When I do have it plugged in, it works fine. All songs play clean without any skipping...even when in shuffle and repeat mode the song progression is clean.
By the way, I have a 20 Gig monochrome 4th Gen iPod. This is my 3rd replacement iPod, as the support at the apple store in SOHO, NYC simply give me replacement ones. I'm not sure if they are refurbished or not. It has'nt given me any problems thus far and I have 688 songs on it plus other files in disk mode.Yes I know it's booting up, the problem is it won't boot up unless it is plugged into the AC adaptor...
It's not asleep...otherwise it would turn on without being plugged in to the AC adaptor. It can also be reset which would yield the same booting up screen process, but again regardless of how many resets I do, it won't work unless plugged into the AC adaptor.
This is a new replacement and it was fully charged yesterday when it decided to stop working. -

iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad -
can anyone tell me how to restore my iphone? Itunes will not let me and now my screen just has a usb port and itunes on it?
Error 1015: This error is caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple.
What this means is you have to delete your .ipsw file (it may be corrupted or old) and attempt to restore your iPhone again.
Where the .ipsw file is found:
Mac - ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
Windows Vista/7 - C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates -
What do I do now"
The update didn't apply correctly. You need to connect to iTunes via micro USB and restore

The volume only works when I have earphones plugged into the jack, otherwise when I try to adjust the volume it has a circle with a cross. Ive tried restarting it with and without the headphones plugged in. However it does make that mac sound when turning on the machine before the apple logo comes on and takes me to the desktop screen. Is there anything I can do to fix this??
I'm having a very similar problem.
I've got a 2010 iMac that I've got hooked up to my Pioneer Elite via HDMI cable using the Moshi adapter.
It's been working great for months, but today the audio began dropping out -- a fraction of a second, every six seconds or so.
I installed the latest Snow Leopard update today. Does anyone think there might be a connection?
thx! -
I was given an old Cinema Display A1081 a few years ago. I am trying to test it and want to know if plugged into the power supply, should the standby light come on without being plugged into a mac? I don't want to buy a DVI to mini display adapter if it isn't working. One thing I did do was plug Monitor power in and then the USB plulg into my PC laptop and my iPhone charger USB plug into the back of the monitor. I am able to charge my iPhone this way so I know that the power supply is working. But I can't tell if the monitor itself is workign as no ligths are on. (PS: I am purchasing my first Mac so I am a complete newb but very proficient with PCs) Thanks so much for your help.

Just a final question about Sleep mode - does this have any negative effects on the life or performance of the laptop? I'm so used to Shutting down the laptop each day that I worry about Sleep mode having some sort of drain on the components or something.
There are only two practical differences between Sleep and Shut Down:
1. Sleep will wake instantly, so you don't have to wait for startup.
2. Sleep will drain a new, fully charged battery after several days without being woken or plugged in. If you shut down, the battery charge lasts much longer. Obviously, if you only sleep it overnight, you'll still have plenty of battery left in the morning.
Don't sleep it more frequently than necessary, though. Frequently turning the backlight and hard drive off and on can shorten their life. Just do what's reasonable. I usually leave mine awake until I have to transport it in a bag, along with sleeping it overnight. On battery, I'll sleep it more often to preserve battery. -
