HT1766 view backup on pc

I have lost my ipad and am trying to view my backups on my pc, but don't know how to find it--any help?

On Windows 7 they are stored under :
\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
But unless you restore it onto another iOS device you probably won't be able to make much, if any, sense of it.

  • How to view backup data on PC

I have been backing up address book from my BB  via desktop manager to a file on my PC,  How can I view the files (old address book)on my PC, is it possible? It seems as if i would have to transfer it back to the BB, which would delete the current one. There are old phone numbers that I saved that I need to access. All I get on outlook express is the current list.
    Any help would be appreciated.

The ABC Blackberry Amber converter found at http://www.processtext.com/abcblackberry.html absolutely works.  It allows you to view any of your blackberry backups on your PC.  Good to find stuff that actually does what it is suppose to do without a lot of trash or casting about.

  • HT1766 automatic backup to icloud what does switched off mean? power off?

automatic backup says phone should be 'switched off'. does this mean short close at the top or power off?

I just reviewed HT1766 (the document where you originated your post) and even used the browser search feature but nowhere could I find the words "switched off."
The only statement I could find was: "Automatically backup your camera roll, accounts, documents, and settings when this iPhone is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi."
The above statement does list the correct requirements for automatic backup. Where are you seeing "switched off"?

  • HT1766 iTunes backup - can you restore to a previous backup

Is there anyway to restore to a backup previous to the one most currently done.  I think something went wrong with my backup
and when I restored my iphone all my photos were lost.

To restore data from a previous backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iPhone to the computer with which you normally sync:
Right-click (or Control-click) the device and choose Restore from Backup
If you have a new phone, you can connect to iTunes and it will prompt to restore from your backup Solution from Apple.com: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
If you have no backup for your data on iPhone, iPhone Data Recovery software is your last shot! There are also other options available.

  • Viewing Backups

    Hello,
I am running out of space on my computer and want to clear up some room. I realized that most of my space is taken up by pictures. I am backing up my computer with an iomega external hard drive. I was wondering if I were to delete the images from my iphoto I would still be able to access the backups? As of now I can see that there is iphoto in my backups, but when I double click them it takes me to my current iphoto images. is it possible to view iphoto in its past states? will all my images be gone if i delete them from my mac?

I realized that most of my space is taken up by pictures.
You can put your iPhoto Library on an External Drive:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
I was wondering if I were to delete the images from my iphoto I would still be able to access the backups?
This depends entirely on what your back up software is. For instance, if it's Time machine, no. Other systems will allow it.
Note If you do delete the Library and use the one on the back up remember that you will have *no back up* of your Photos.
but when I double click them it takes me to my current iphoto images
With iPhoto 08 you need to hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' to open another library.
is it possible to view iphoto in its past states?
Depends entirely on the back up system you use.
will all my images be gone if i delete them from my mac?
Depends entirely on the back up system you use.

  • To view backup files?

is there any way to view inside of backup files without restore to iphone

    What do you mean, remove?
If you deleted the backup, then it can no longer be viewed. You'll have to create a new backup.
Backups are stored in the following locations:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press theReturn key.

  • How to View Backup on Time Machine of another computer?

I am trying to make sure my MacBook is Backedup. I am trying to look at my MacBook4,1 files on my external hard drive from my IMac5,1. I tried using control click on TM, gave me Browse other TM disks, but I still get the red circle with a minus sign inside on the folders and cannot open or view them: Please help!

You can browse the content of that disk in Terminal using root account.
How do feel using Terminal application?

  • HT1766 iCloud backup box locked up iPad. I push ok but nothing happens. Box just stays there?

ICloud Backup box appears in middle of screen saying, "This iPad hasn't been backed up in 3 weeks. Backups happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi. When I click the "OK", it changes colors like it's working, but nothing happens. So my iPad is locked up. It's plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi like the box said. I can't unlock or turn off. The sliders won't move because of the box in the middle.

Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • HT1766 my backup is on constantly but if my ipad is locked and i need to restore it will it backup everything on my apps

    hi
im not sure if my backup will back up everything including documents on apps as well as schoolwork on apps

The best way to backup your iPad is the way that makes the most sense in your situation and the way that works best for you. There is no hard and fast answer.  But since you asked .....
I prefer using iTunes because I don't have to worry about having enough space available in iCloud. You are allotted 5GB of space with the free iCloud account, but that is really not that much storage space at all. You can purchase more space, but IMO, its crazy to pay for cloud storage if you have your own computer. On top of that, you have more control when you use your computer. You can backup the content on your computer in order to have backups of backups. You can't do that with iCloud. Another disadvantage to using iCloud is that you always need to be connected to WiFi in order to backup to iCloud. Not everybody always has access to WiFi every minute of every day.

If you have your full contact list on your iPhone 3, simply sync iPhone contacts to your PC (Outlook or Windows Address Book). Next, import the contact entries from your PC back to your iPhone 4.

    Suggestions Please?

  • HT1766 iCloud Backup, Restore iPhone to Factory Setting

If I restore my original iPhone (4s) to factory settings which will erase all saved data/information, will my back-up files in iCloud be deleted too? I am planning to give my old iPhone away. Thanks.

    No.
A an iCloud or iTunes computer backup must be deleted manually. The backup is not erased when restoring an iPhone even when restored as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
