HT1810 Screen sharing is currently being controlled by the remote management service

Can't access screen sharing

You''ll need to turn off Remote Management and turn on Screen Sharing in the Sharing system preference of the system to which you want access. This will stop management by Apple Remote Desktop, if you happen to be using that software.

    How do I disable this? Easy steps please and THANKS!!!

    System Preferences -> Sharing -> Remote Management (turn it off)
    System Preferences -> Sharing -> Screen Sharing (turn it off)
    Who is this remote management that you have allowed them access to your Mac?
    Also is it possible you have some other remote access utility running?  LogMeIn.com, TeamViewer.com, GoToMyPC.com, etc...?

  • Screen Sharing controlled by 'remote management service'....What is that?

    Under preferences, 'Sharing', I cannot activate screen sharing. Message says 'Screen sharing is currently being controlled by a remote management service'. What does this mean?? How can I correct????

    It thinks that Remote Management is also checked on the list of Sharing services. Is it? If so, then screen sharing is running through the remote management service.
    Ok, that sounded like a definition using the word to define it. Remote Management is a superset of screen sharing. Apple makes a product called Apple Remote Desktop that can be used for an administrator to manage lots of Macs. Remote Management is the service that talks to ARD. Screen sharing is part of remote management, but Apple also provides simple screen sharing for people that don't have/need ARD.

  • Screen sharing controlled by remote managing service

    Unable to achieve screen sharing between my iMac and my MacBook Air.  System Preferences Sharing screen says 'Screen sharing is currently being controlled by Remote Managment service'.  How do I fix that and return to screen sharing capability?
    Thanks
    Jim

    1.  Indeed, Remote Management was checked.  I unchecked, then checked Screen Sharing - all seemed well.
    2.  Went to MacBook Air, restarted, attempted to Connect to Server, but connection failed.
    Now what?
    PS  How did Remote Management get checked in the first place? I've never used that before.
    Thanks
    Jim

  • Screen Sharing Available "Current Status"

    All of a sudden clients in my lab display "Screen Sharing Available", I try to control any aspect and get an error saying that the task is not supported on MacBook 6? How can I get back to control my macs?

    I followed article HT2577 on uninstalling Apple Remote Desktop 2 or 3.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2577
    I disable Apple Remote Desktop client software:
    On the client computer, open System Preferences and click Remote Desktop. If necessary, click the lock button to authenticate as an administrator of that computer.
    Deselect "Make Apple Remote Desktop active on this computer."
    Deselect the checkbox of each account that was enabled for ARD. (Alternatively, you can open Terminal and use the kill command to stop the ARDHelper process, followed by the ARDAgent process.)
    To Remove Apple Remote Desktop, execute these commands in Terminal:
    $ sudo rm -rf /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu\ Extras/RemoteDesktop.menu
    $ sudo rm -rf /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/
    $ sudo rm -rf /System/Library/PreferencePanes/ARDPref.prefPane
    $ sudo rm -rf /System/Library/StartupItems/RemoteDesktopAgent/
    $ sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.ARDAgent.plist
    $ sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteManagement.plist
    Then I reinstalled remote desktop 3.2.1
    Then updated to 3.2.2

  • Screen Sharing doesn't work after updating to Remote Desktop 3.6.1

    Hi everyone!
    I hope others can help.  We just noticed this at two different schools today after upgrading to 3.6.1.  We upgraded Admin and Client Apple Remote Desktop to ARD 3.6.1 today and now we cannot share our screens with the clients.  It turns black, hangs, then returns the client to its original desktop.
    We tried from a 3.5.1 admin machine, and it still works fine as it used to.
    We feel like the issue is 3.6.1, but cannot find any support for the issue online.
    Other troubleshooting steps:
    1) emptied user and system Caches
    2) restarted all units
    3) tried 3.6.1 admin to 3.5.1 clients, no luck
    4) tried 3.6.1 admin to 3.6.1 clients, no luck
    5) checked for loops in the network, nothing.
    We can perform most other tasks like controlling the clients and copying files, but not screen sharing.
    Thank you for your help!

    All right!  Total workaround here, and no fix, but at least we're able to Screen Share in ARD now.  This is how we downgraded to 3.5.1 Admin in Apple Remote Desktop.  The only hiccup that may not work for most is that you must have an older Remote Desktop file on hand. (hopefully from a computer that was not upgraded which was our case).
    Here is what we did...
    1) Login as an admin.
    2) Throw out the Remote Desktop app (in Applications)
    3) From another computer, drag in an old Remote Desktop app into your Applications folder
    4) Throw out the "RemoteManagement" folder inside System/Library/CoreServices
    5) From support.apple.com/downloads, download Remote Desktop 3.5.1 (both the Client and Admin installers).
    6) Run the Admin install first, then the Client Install.
    I did the above steps in two schools in a different order, but I wrote it this way to make it more streamlined.  I never had to re-enter the Serial # or anything.  Once I did the steps above, it just worked again.
    Hope this helps you!

  • Is it possible to have an app icon on the home screen without it actually being downloaded to the device's memory?

    The reason for wanting to do this, is to free up memory on my iPhone. I would like to delete apps that i don't use very often, but still have them on my home screen so that they don't get lost and forgotten about in my long list of 'purchased apps'... then when i do want to use them, they are there on my homescreen waiting to be re-downloaded.
    This would be a similar concept to the way that iTunes Match works. I can either choose to see only the songs which are downloaded to my phone or see all of the music i have stored in the cloud, for download as and when i want to listen to it.
    If this cannot be done, i hope it will be a feature of one of the next iOS updates.
    (Currently using iOS 7.1.2 on iPhone 5S)
    Thanks

    TomQoncept wrote:
    Thanks but I know that... That's why i'm asking whether there is any option to keep the icon after deletion.
    You're welcome. The answer is no.

  • How do I configure my PCI-GPIB cards so that one is a controller and the other is a device being controlled by the first card

    I have 2 PC's, both fitted with PCI-GPIB cards. One will be the system controller and the other will be a device on the GPIB bus. How do I configure both cards using LabWindows/CVI v7.0 to achieve this ? What commands are used to send and receive the data ?

    Hi Pete,
    For the controller board you don't really need to do anything. By default the GPIB interface is configured as controller.
    The non-controller can be configured in MAX. Right-click on the interface, uncheck the ono-controller box and change the primary address. It is usually a good idea to set these parameters programatically. Use ibpad to set the primary address and ibrsc to release system control.
    For the controller you can use a device descriptor (using ibdev) or a board descriptor (ibfind).
    You can only open a reference to the non-controller board using ibfind (ibfind("gpib0"), for example). This will open a board reference. You cannot use a device reference because that implies that the board is capable of addressing the bus. On
    ly the system controller can.
    Here are some links I found on the web on this subject:

    Tutorial: Programmatic File Transfers over the GPIB
    Example: Using a C Program as a GPIB Non-Controller with LabVIEW as the GPIB Controller

  • SQLException(original cause) in throw new EJBException(SQLException) is being lost, when the remote exception is being thrown by the container (ejbStore()) in IPlanet. Works in WL and WS

    (IPlanet 6 - SP4)
    we have something like this in the EntityBean :
    ejbstore()
    try {
    myDAO.Update();
    catch(SQLException se)
    throw new EJBException(se);
    But in the SessionBean, where we set the detail (which
    causes ejbStore() to fire), I'm seeing a TransactionRolledBack exception with no trace of the
    original exception within it (The "detail" attribute
    too is null ). The same thing works in WL and WS.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Turn your checked exceptions into unchecked exceptions and retrieve the cause later:
    RuntimeException unchecked = new RuntimeException(checked);
    Throwable t = unchecked.getCause();Stephen
