It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use this to put everything back.
The music and pic sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good) then you can transfer itunes purchases: Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
If the pics are pics taken with ipod, then you can import them as you would from any digital camera. otherwise you can e-mail them to yourself. -

If you still have the crashed Win computer, you may be able to recover your music and movies from the hard drive. If you have a friend with a hard drive USB connection kit and a PC, they should be able to help. Otherwise, check locally for computer services that might do that for you (I think Best Buy Geek Squad may be able to help). If the drive itself is in good shape, it shouldn't be too expensive.

Here is a possible solution: When you sync your iPad, highlight your iPad in the left column of itunes and you should see a set of tabs for your iPad. Check the tabs for apps, music, and photos and make sure the items you want on the iPad are set to sync. When you have them set, click the "apply" button in the lower right corner of itunes.

You only get one download of music and videos and it is up to you to back it up. Music, videos and the apps themselves (app data is) are not part of the backup and is synced to your iPod at the end of an update. It appears the the apps and music were not in your iTunes library and thsu would not be restored to your iPod. -

Music is never sync'd back across, its always done manually. Apps should automatically sync back across after you restore from backup.

ThanksThe apps can be redownloaded for free. The music you purchased from itunes can be transfered to itunes from the phone, just select transfer purchases in itunes by right clicking on Phone icon. Anything you put in itunes from a CD or other place needs to be manually put back in itunes.
Next time I strongly recommend backing up your HD so you don't have to go thru all these steps! The iphone isn't intended as a backup drive or storage device! if something goes wrong with it and your computer with no backup you're SOL!
