  • HT1848 How do I transfer purchases from a device in the new version of iTunes?

How do I transfer purchase in the new version of iTunes?  The File menu is gone, and right-clicking on the device icon doesn't do anything.  The following link about transferring purchases appears to be outdated for the new version of iTunes.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Cntrl + B will display the menu.
Cntrl + S will display the side bar.

  • How can I transfer songs from my IPOD to the computer?

I had a computer issue and some songs in Itunes got erased, they are however on my IPOD still. I used to get a message that askedme if I wanted to transfer music that was on my IPOD to the computer and the answer was usually no - so i clicked the box "Dont ask again" and now I need it. Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

I had a similar problem. Download a program called "Yamipod" and it will allow to copy the music back into iTunes. I did it with about 5300 songs and it worked fine. Keep in mind the program runs off the iPod, so no installation on the computer is necessary.

How do I transfer music from my ipod to my computer without replacing the music on my ipod with the music on my computer?

You can't do that with iTunes (except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer songs files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the songs files are on your computer, add them to your iTunes library.  Then, you can sync your iPod to that iTunes library, as desired.

  • How do I transfer music from my iPod to my computer which was not purchased on iTunes?

I just downloaded iTunes Match to my MacBook Air. Now, how do I transfer music from my iPod to my Mac which I did not purchase on iTunes? When I downloaded iTunes Match, it did its thing, but none of the music that I burned from CDs showed up on my Mac. Is there something else I should do? (I still have my old computer with my entire iTunes library on it, but I haven't used in in a while. Should I do something with that, as well?)
    Thanks!

    1) I did indeed specify what model my iPod is, as you can plainly see. I even specified which iOS I’m operating on.
True. My mistake. I didn't see it.

I'm actually currently serving in the Peace Corps in the Eastern European country of the Republic of Georgia, so I'm not always able to get back to posts as quickly as I would like. So I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out by searching the support communities. But as I tell my students (who are learning English as a second language) pronouncing and using words correctly is important to them being understood by native English speakers. The same goes for technology terms. If the correct terms aren't used (for example "import" and "rip") then misunderstandings can occur and it can take longer to get your problem solved.

how can i transfer picture from old iPod to my computer

Are these pictures on your iPod no longer stored on your PC or in a backup somewhere?  If so, you'll need the help of third party software to assist you with the task of extracting the photos from your iPod to your PC.  Keep in mind that these synced photos are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnails of the original.
If you stored these photos in full resolution, see this article for instructions on copying them from your iPod back to your PC.
Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod
Once the photos are on your PC again, you can configure them to sync to your iPhone.

  • How do I transfer songs from my iPod to my computer?

I just recently had to get my computer re formatted and it was so screwed up they were not even able to get into my music files to back them up on discs. Is there a way to connect my iPod to my computer and transfer the songs from my iPod to my computer without destroying my music files or losing them? I heard if I do this it will enter all my songs as number sequences... is there anyway I can have the songs entered as their normal titles???

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How do i sync music FROM my ipod to the computer

I just upgraded to itunes 11, and all the music that was in the itunes library dissapeared from the itunes library, and Im freaking out!!!! However, the music that was there, is still on my ipod, so I was thinking that i can just sync it from my ipod to the computer.
there was a time where i didnt have REAL music on my ipod. I would go on youtube and record it under voice memos. How stupid was that?! anyway, my music from another itunes library is there, and like i said, its not even music, theyre voice memos! how do i get rid of those and put the music thats on my ipod back in the library? A pro, please help!

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • HT1848 How do you transfer purchases from an iOS device using the new iTunes (11?)?

I've just updated iTunes to ver. 11 on my mothers new PC and I'm connecting her iPad up for the first time.  I can't see anything like the transfer purchases option that exsisted in the previous versions.  I've tried to eject and start again, but it's still not giving me the option like it used to when you connected a device for the first time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

okay, should have serched a little more..  all I had to do was CTRL + b in my library to view the file menu, and under File -> Devices -> transfer purchases
    Please ignore this question!

  • How do I transfer music from my ipod to the itunes on my Windows 7 pc.

I have thousands of songs in my iTunes on my computer, except many of them are listed with the dreaded "!"
indicating the song cannot be found on the computer. This was before the 'cloud.'  So now, when tried to put all my songs into the cloud, many are listed as 'missing.'    I have searched the computer and truly the song is no longer there.  I have my views about the fact that mostly all of the missing songs were NOT bought from iTunes library, but let's skip that for a minute.
Anyway, most of the 'lost' songs are on my iPod touch.  I want to add them to my iCloud, and also back to my computer.
    How do I do it.
Please note I did not use regular "sync" because, from experience when I have synced an IPod in the past,
and songs were on the IPod but not found in the iTunes library, the sync ERASED all songs from the iPod which were not
in the iTunes library------exactly what i was trying to avoid.
I swear these people at Apple hate when you have music from your own CD's and not bought from them.
Anyways, anyone who can tell me how to do this, it will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Patrick
