How do I transfer purchase in the new version of iTunes?  The File menu is gone, and right-clicking on the device icon doesn't do anything.  The following link about transferring purchases appears to be outdated for the new version of iTunes.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Cntrl + B will display the menu.
Cntrl + S will display the side bar.

    - You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer. You can however, manually manage music and videos among different libraries.
Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
    - If y wnat to switch syncing libraries/computer see:
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If all the synced media like music is in the iTunes library of the second computer it is very easy.

The same way you have done in every version of iTunes.
Right click on the device and select "Transfer Purchases"
If the sidebar is not displaying, type Cntrl + S.

  • HT1848 How do you transfer purchases from an iOS device using the new iTunes (11?)?

I've just updated iTunes to ver. 11 on my mothers new PC and I'm connecting her iPad up for the first time.  I can't see anything like the transfer purchases option that exsisted in the previous versions.  I've tried to eject and start again, but it's still not giving me the option like it used to when you connected a device for the first time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

okay, should have serched a little more..  all I had to do was CTRL + b in my library to view the file menu, and under File -> Devices -> transfer purchases
    Please ignore this question!

  • HT1848 Where is the "transfer purchases" option in iTunes for Windows 8.1 (desktop)?

This article says I should use the "File Menu" on my PC's iTunes application. Unfortunately, no one revised these instructions after someone else redesigned the interface.

Thanks for your response, but I'm not finding any option like that, either.
Here's a little more detail on the context of my specific problem:
This morning, for no apparent reason, my 4 month old iPad Air decided it would not turn on. I plugged it into my PC and iTunes was able to access its contents, or at least some of it; it's not really clear.
One of the options for dealing with this situation, according to the Apple support page I read, is to have iTunes reset the iPad, which is misleadingly called "Restore iPad ...". (Evidently, this condition is common enough that there is a separate page for dealing with it.)
After backing up the iPad to my computer using iTunes, I started the so-called "Restore" process, only to be told that "There are purchased items on the iPad ... that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. If you restore this iPad, these items will be erased and you will have to purchase them again. Are you sure you want to continue?"
Naturally, this message does not give me an option button to "transfer" the purchased items to my "iTunes library"; in fact, the message does not even give the slightest hint as to how such as "transfer" might be accomplished. It also does not give any clue as to what has not been "transferred to [my] iTunes library."
So far as I can tell, the only thing that I have purchased that has not been downloaded to my computer are my iPad apps. Do I have to download those to my computer? That seems idiotic, but, then again, I am new to the Appleverse and am not familiar with its arcane and recondite ways. All that I had ever heard was that Apple stuff was supposed to be intuitive and easy to use. This seems to be the exact opposite.

I am trying to update my iPhone to the latest software update, when trying to do so I get the message that I have purchased items on my iPhone that have not been transfered to the computer.. How do I transfer purchases with this new iTunes?
The last iTunes you could just right click on the device on the left hand menu and do this.. But I can't seem to find anything relating to this in the new iTunes?

Click here, follow the instructions, and choose Transfer Purchases in the File menu.

I am unable to sync and transfer purchased items to my computer as i am unable to open the the transfer tab (it is white instead of the usaul black writing). What is the problem ? (The itunes is authorised for my computer.)

If this is a new computer you need to authorise it.  In itunes click on STORE and hten authorise this computer.

  • Where do I look to find the purchases I am told I need to transfer to iTunes Library before I can update from 7.0.4 to 7.0.6.

Before I can update  my iPad from 7.0.4 to 7.0.6 I am told I must transfer some purchases to iTunes library. How do I identify these purchases, find them and then transfer them to the iTunes library?

You don't need to find them or identify them. iTunes does it for you. When that dialog box pops up, just click on Transfer Purchases to begin the process and iTunes will take care of all of it for you.
New apps, songs, books, etc, ...anything that you downloaded since you last synced with iTunes will be transferred.
