You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. To make the new computer the syncing computer:

There are a lots of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. The simplest operation your Mac can do is start up with the Option key held down. The code is all in ROM. It uses a One size fits all resolution to light up the display and draw an icon for each potentially bootable Volume.
The most effective thing your Mac can do when confused is to start up using the Shift key. It does one pass of Disk Utility "Repair Disk" then boots up with minimal extensions loaded and ask you to login. But if your Mac is really sick, it may never get there.

When songs cannot be found, it's either because they have been moved from the original location that you told iTunes, renamed or deleted.
So have you:
renamed songs?
moved them to a different loaction on your computer since you imported them into itunes?
deleted them since you imported them?
stored you iTunes library on an external drive? If so, that drive needs to be on and ready every time before you start iTunes.
... or is another programme renaming or even moving them, such as Windows Media Player? (It has been known to if you let it.) Did you previously use Windows Media Player?

First of all make sure that you've definitely backed up the movies to your external hard disc.
In iMovie click on any event you don't want, go to the file menu and select 'move event to trash'. Then do the same for any unwanted projects - 'move project to trash'. Quit out of iMovie and empty the trash.

You need to keep the keys pressed for several seconds. Close down Elements. Hold down the CtrlShiftAlt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst clicking on the desktop icon for the Editor or PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe in the Programs folder. Keep holding down all three keys until you get the settings option. You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?Click on YesThen wait whilst Elements rebuilds the preferences. Try outputting it as a MP4 or M4V
If Final Cut won't output it, Mpegstreamclip will convert it. So will Quicktime if you have the pro version.

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Attempts to sync an iDevice to a new computer will remove all content from the device and replace it with content from the new, empty library.

Hi Kevin,
Have you authorized the Computer to your Apple ID?
If not, sign on to iTunes.
Then got to the Store menu option at the top of the screen (CTL+B if it is not showing), and click on it to display the dropdown, and select Authorize this computer.
If that doesn't work, then sign on your Dad's iTunes ID and repeat the Authorization process.

Did an update and lost music purchased from the iPhone?

OK, updated a friends iPhone, it appeared to backup and all but when it it was done the music purchased from the phone was missing?? Is it hidden somewhere I can get it back onto her phone? I figured it was like apps that have been bought, once you buy them you can download them again..Guess that's not the case!! also some apps where missing. but that was easy enough to put back on, just a pain!

Everyone should always keep a back up copy of their important info on an external source - external drive, flash drive, dvd, cd, etc.
If you do not back up, you will likely lose it at some point.
Itunes prompts you to back up on occasion. You can click "Support" at the top of this page and type back up. You can use the help feature in itunes.
You can copy the entire itunes folder.
Please back up. I am amazed that some do not back up their info.
It will save a lot of frustration in the future.
