HT1848 My rented movie is nowhere to be found on my itouch.

I moved my rented movie from my itunes account to my iPod touch.  Itunes tranferred the file and it showed up on the device in the itunes menu bar.  But when I go to the iTouch, the movie is nowhere to be found.  I have done this numerous times, but this is the first time I've not been able to watch the movie.  I tried moving the file back to the computer, but iTunes would not allow it.

Doublechecking ... it's not showing up in the Videos app on the Touch?

  • Regarding Apple TV.  Rented move to "watch later".  Found in itunes store. Can't get it to load.c

I rented a movie to "watch later".  I went to the itunes store (horrible way to navigate to find a rented movie) and clicked on "check for rentals".  I only get the contiunous pinwheel spinning into eternity.  Any suggestions on what to do?

    Hi Jeff.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • Does anyone know why a rented movie on Apple TV doesn't have any audio?

    Hello,
Has anyone had a similar problem. I just rented a documentary, however there's no audio on the movie, although there is audio on the preview. What is the cause of that and what can be done?

    Hey gregstew,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I looked into your issues when no audio is playing while watching your rented movie. From what I found is that potentially the automatic sound selection may be switching to the Dolby Digital output and you may not have the setup at home. There is a resolution though.

  • I rented a movie from my Apple TV account and it is nowhere to be found

I was logged into my iTunes account on my Apple TV so I could bypass the technical difficulties of AirPlay or authorizing computers to play a movie. Now it's nowhere to be found. It looks like this is a reoccurring issue with apple. I already checked for available rentals, and I also tried pressing the play button while on the Rent option. No luck. When I try to click rent again for the movie, it warns me that I have already rented it. Where is it

Welcome to the Apple Community and Seasons Greetings.
Have you checked in the movies section on the main page.

  • HT4095 Watching rented movie from iTunes on my iPad in the middle of nowhere...

If I'm driving in the middle of nowhere will a rented movie from iTunes play fine on my iPad? Or not if the internet connection is potentially intermittent or sporadic?

As long as the movie has completely downloaded, you will not need an Internet connection at all.
    Regards.

    You cannot.

Not if you rented and downloaded it on your iPad, you can only watch it on that - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657 :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.

  • Lost rented movie from iphone....

well, as you know, date & time changes randomly is known bug. I didn't know it caused to rented movie.
anyway, I just transferred rented movie (spider man 3) last night after watching 15 chapters. it said that I had 19 hours to expire at that time. this morning, I connected with itunes for podcast. then disconnected, suddenly time & date changed. I changed to correct time & date manually. went to video section, rented movie was totally disappeared!!! now I can't get it from nowhere.
of course, I sent feedback to apple. even I talked with guys in apple store. they have nothing to help me.
if the sudden time & date change causes rented movie time expiration, it should be really really big problem. Apple must fix this thing.
    what is your opinions?

Then you'll need to contact support for assistance my friend.

  • Rented movie not available

I rented a movie on my PC, started the download and it never finished. I restarted it, it showed up in the rented section and now it is nowhere to be found. Do I have to pay again?

    Thanks Chris...
I had reached this conclusion. I thought when the Classic was introduced that its Classic suffix was to differentiate it from the Touch, and assumed that it was no different to my 30gb model except for a redesigned casing and an the increased HD size. Oh well. Not a big deal.
    Thanks again
    Tony

  • Rented movie lost on ipad

I just rented a movie on my ipad via a wifi connection. When I go to the ipod application to play it, it is nowhere to be found. Where do rented movies reside on the ipad? What application do I need to open to view them?
    Thanks,

Thank you so much...saved me trying to rent it again...

  • HT1657 Rented movie purchased but not downloaded

I keep renting movies on my iPad but then when I go the the movie app, the movie appears in grey, not playable, and it says that the movie needs to be downloaded.
However it appears nowhere neither on the iPad nor on my mac...
    Where is it?
I paid for it and it is not viewable!!

Got a response from apple customer service
Besides the fact that they are reasonably nice or sent me to the FAQ section of the apple site (dooh!!) the best they could do was refund me on my 2 rented but unwatchable movies with credit for my next rentals...
Additional frustration: I need to wait for 2 weeks for the credit to hit my account if I want to redownload these same 2 movies...

  • Slow load times on rented movies

Recently we have been experiencing intermittent performance during streaming rented videos on our second generation Apple TV. For the second night in a row we would be watching a rented video when it would suddenly freeze and then say "Ready to play in XX minutes". The amount of minutes then jumps from anywhere between 59 minutes up to as long as 1 hour and 50 minutes. My thought is that it has something to do with Apple's introduction of the 3rd gen AppeTV (1080p) and rentable 1080p movies. I suspect all the bandwidth is going toward these new devices and all of us with older hardware are getting the shaft.
Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing the same issue(s).
    Thanks,
    Jon B.
PS - Wife put on a Netflix show and it worked right away with no problems. Internet is cable into a Time Capsule (802.11n). I'm not a computer novice and never have experienced these long loading issues on streaming rentals before.

    @jfricker,
I did some research about the problem online and discovered that it was OpenDNS causing the problem. If you're using OpenDNS I recommend changing your settings back to your ISP's settings.
If that's not the issue for you check your download speed by getting the free app called Speed Test. According to Apple the minimum speed should be at 6 MBit/sec for 720p.
    Check this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3623
After changing my DNS addressess back to the default Comcast ones I tried playing our rented movie again and it started right up. Kind of bummed that this is the solution because OpenDNS is pretty cool. If you don't know what it is check it out online at OpenDNS.com. Basically it allows you to block unwanted content on a network-wide basis so that you can filter content coming in to any device connected to your network... rather than setting up individual parental controls on a client by client (meaning any device on your network - iPhones, computers, game consoles, etc) basis.
The downside as it turns out is that it messes up AppeTV. :-(
