If you update via Settings>General>Software update not should be lost unless there is a glitch.
If you update via iTunes all your syncecd media like apps and music has to be in your iTunes library.
As a precaution make backups before updating

No. Prior to the update iTunes will do a backup of your current content - update the iOS - then restore the previous content.

Yes. An iPod is designed to only sync with one iTunes library/computer at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library it will erase what is currently on the iPod and replace it whatever is in the new library empty or not.
So what'll you want to do is copy all of your content on your iPod to your new Macbook Pro and into iTunes. You can transfer purchases from the iPod to iTunes via File -> Transfer purchases. For music outside of iTunes you'll need the help of some sort of third party program such as Senuti to help you get the job done.

Hi, I have just downloaded lion and my Photoshop CS is not supported.....why why why. This update will cost me $500 ! Totally useless update

I have just downloaded LION as an update and it is OK, not great but OK. However I am furious because it does not support Photoshop CS for Mac! Great so this update is now going to cost me 500 dollars for a new Photoshop. Well done Apple why is this not supported and why should I buy more software. THIS IS BAD BAD BAD!. Don't update to Lion until you check your other software will run! Does anyone know how to revert back to Snow Leopard or get your money back from Apple.

First off, learn how you must be prepared for Lion before installing:

Next consider one of three courses:
1. If most of your software is supported, and you don't presently have a backup of your older system, get an external hard drive larger than your current,
partition it for enough space for Snow Leopard and your present Lion installation on your hard drive allowing for at least 15% of each partition to have free space after cloning Lion and installing Snow Leopard and your Snow Leopard only compatible applications.
2. If very little of your software is supported, and you don't presently have a backup, get an external hard drive, Install Snow Leoaprd on it, and recover your data on it after using the Migration Assistant to import the data from the Lion on the internal that is compatible with Snow Leopard, and the install applications from your CDs. Once you have it working on your external hard drive, clone it back to your internal, and get a refund from the App Store:

3. If you have a backup from before installing Snow Leopard, just erase and install Snow Leopard, and contact the App Store support for a refund.

When installing Mountain Lion OS will it erase all on my computer?

Will the installation of Mountain Lion OS wipe out the pictures and documents on my computer?

If everything works perfectly, it should not do anything but overwrite the old operating system with the new one.
Having said that would you trust you data to eveything working perfectly. I don't know about you but I don't. In fact I actually backup my data twice using different software for each backup just in case.
So the decision is yours. How trusting are you?

Eduardo Alejandro Lazo what specific error do you receive when trying to apply the update?
I would also recommend checking the installation logs for the updates you are attempting to apply for errors. You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

I have this error for one year:
When downloading this update an error occurred. Close the process and try you later again it.
And with Mac OS Yosemite the printer menu does not fall. Does not function to printing any longer

Can't get updates to Photoshop CS5 after installing. When I download the updates, i get this.

Adobe Application Manager "There was an error downloading this update"

I have recently upgraded my PC (new motherboard, CPU, memory, etc) and have reinstalled my copy of Photoshop CS5 Extended.
I forgot to deactivate my copy prior to formatting my hard drive.
Adobe application manager is telling me that I have multiple updates pending but when I run the updater it spends 15-20 minutes doing what looks like downloading the updates then proceeds to give me an error saying:
"There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."
Please see the screenshot below.
I'm sure I'm missing something simple here but I cant figure it out. Is there anything I can do to get these updates to work?

1. Maybe - as you will have gathered - you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:

2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
3. Did you already try "uninstalling and re-installing"? Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.

I have a Windows PC - OS: Win 7 Home Premium, SP1
I recently had to have my hard drive replaced and, as result, had to reinstall the Adobe products I own: Acrobat 10, Premiere Elements & Photoshop 9
I assume as part of reinstalling the software the Adobe Application Manager was installed as well - regardless, it indicates 'updates are available' -- however when I open the updater I am receiving the error message:

(secondary problem: whenever I open Elements or Photoshop and I am asked to log in with my Adobe ID, I get the error message 'Error. Photoshop.com services are currently unavailable. Please try again later or check your network connections. Error 400'. Now I know photoshop.com was replaced with Revel - but why is it consistently giving me the same error message? shouldn't it be updated by now or, specifically, is this indicative of a different problem when I attempt to login with my Adobe ID??)

I don't know why you are getting these errors. Try downloading & installing the updates manually from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
