How do you remove a credit card from file? Do not want it on file for purchases, would rather enter the information when I purchase.
If you do not want to enter a credit card when you create an account you can use an iTunes Store card to add credit to an account. This is what allows you to have the "None" payment option.

Why are SO many people asking this question, and no one is answering? Why does no one at Apple ever answer these "support" discussions? It's just millions of people upset for various reasons (such as broken off buttons on the iPhone 4S that my poor mother has experienced, among thousands and thousands of others with ZERO help from Apple). And the only people who do find help here, get it from others who find workarounds without Apple's help.
I also have the same question as above, (and the thousands of others do as well - do a quick Google search or just look at all the similar posts to the right). I've tried to call Apple, and I keep getting re-directed to their website. I search their website, and no answer is provided. PLEASE RESPOND Apple. Geez louise. For such a profitable company, they sure don't help their customers very well. I have so many Apple products, I can't even count.

I have made a purchase wanting to use solely iTunes gift cards. However I did not account for the local taxes, and it exceeded the amount of gift card credits I had. Now my credit card has been charged, though I do not want to use it for various reasons.
Can I pay the balance using another gift card instead?If your account's balance didn't cover the total purchase price then the extra amount over your balance will have been charged to your credit card - it's too late after purchasing the item to change how you paid for it. If you don't want your credit card to potentially be charged for purchases then you could remove it from your account :

ThanksThe iTunes Store sometimes requires a credit card to check that an account is valid, but shouldn’t normally charge purchases to it(except for gifts) while there’s sufficient iTunes Store credit.

I recently entered the information into iTunes for a gift card. All information was entered correctly, and I got a message confirming that. After this point, I purchased a song from iTunes, but I still received an email today to inform me of my purchase and to let me know that the 99¢ had been charged to my credit card. Can anyone help me with this?
Assuming you were not buying a gift for someone else - gifts cannot be purchased using a credit balance - another user in the forums posted this as the reply from the iTunes Store when this issue was brought up. Perhaps it will help you. Regards.
I'm sorry you weren't able to make a purchase using your store credit. To purchase items on the iTunes Store with your store credit, your account information in your user profile needs to be corrected. I'll walk you through this process to get you back up and running in no time.
1) Visit the My Apple ID website at: http://appleid.apple.com
2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.
3) Click the "Manage your account" link.
4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.
5) Click "Addresses" in the column on the left. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit. Edit all of your shipping addresses and make sure the appropriate state is selected in the State drop-down menus.
6) Now click "Phone Numbers" on the left. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.
7) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.
8) Click Log out in the upper-right corner. When you make your next purchase on the iTunes Store, you will be asked to review your billing information. At this point, you can change your information or simply click Done at the bottom of the screen to proceed. Once you click Done, you should be able to purchase on the iTunes Store using your store credit. -

On your computer launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / View My Account then select Edit Payment Information.
Make sure your billing information is correct including the expiration date and security code if you are using a credit or debit card then click Done.
Restart your computer.
Try again. -
Why am I being forced to acquire a credit card? I am now completely paralyzed when it comes to my apps and just purchases in general. I use a debit card, I do not want a credit card in my life. Now I can't enjoy the iPhone that I was so excited about like used to. It all happened after that ios8 update. It's a bummer really.
That happened to me. I rebooted and now my docs are back again.

They say I have too many credit cards on file for my username- purchase cancelled. I use gift cards for gaming purchases (Visa,MC) so I have used a few, but its a gift card.
This is most likely a security precaution since they probably assume that someone using multiple credit cards over a short period of time may well have stolen them. Go here:

I want to change my account payment method to none and I do not have a credit card yet.Plus, iTunes gave a message saying that I need to review my account and when I go there,the none payment method is hidden.
Assuming that you want help and that you aren't just copying-and-pasting that thread's title and posting a link to it, then have you tried the steps on the post that I linked to in my first reply on that thread ?
If you don't get the 'none' option when trying those instructions then you will need to enter credit card details before you will be able to use the account - when you've entered credit card details you should get the 'none' option and be able to remove your card details.
