On your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) menu option and logging into it. You change it in iTunes. Go to the iTunes Store. In iTunes 12, click on your name in the toolbar and choose 'Account info'. In previous versions click 'Account' in 'Quick links' on the right. Sign in, and click 'Edit' next to 'Payment information'. Then you can change the card.

When I changed my credit card info iTunes says my security code is invalid but the one I've entered is correct. I've even added a different card and I still get the message that the code is invalid. This means that I cannot download an app or song because I can't get past the payment page.

What are you seeing on the iPad's screen when trying to purchase things, and is this the first time that you've tried to download anything from the store ?
If it's the first time then unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method
then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.
