I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" > tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select "done", in the upper right corner
sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the security questions.
At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security questions.
It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.

How can i change the security answers because i have forgotten
how can i change my security answers because im stuck and cant purchase any thing on itunes/app store because i have forgotten the answers
If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 -

If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com. Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE: This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address. Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466, and ask for account security. You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.

HT5312 how do u reset your security answers and questions, if you forgot them
I need help witht reseting my security answers and questions and i forgot them.
The page that you posted from has instructions for how to reset them i.e. if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 half-way down that page should give you a reset link.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

I have had a 3rd gen touch for a couple years. I bought my son a new 4th gen and my daughter her own 4th gen touch. I added them to my account and added a $25 iTunes card to my son's. The store is asking my security answers and I have no clue anymore. How do I get these answers?
Both new 4th gen touches are ready to play but my daughter's says it cannot sync due to a missing disc. What is that about? How do I fix?See this similar post.

How do I reset the security questions as I have forgotten them?
When I sign in to iTunes to manage my account, I do not get an option to reset the security questions even though I have an alternate email address added.
I have already temporary locked my once. I'm trying to make a purchase, but do not know the answers to the security questions. But I'm not able to reset them either!
How do I reset the security questions?
Extremely frustrated!Hi mellis,
You cannot reset your own Security Questions. Also, your alternate email address is not the same as a Rescue email address. You will need to contact iTunes Support to get them reset:
