HT1918 I changed my email address, and now none of my music shows up in my library. Where did it go?

I changed the email address on my current account, and now when I log into iTunes, none of my music is there. I didn't create a new account, just changed my email address. Where is my music and how do I get it back?

This does not make sense. Your Apple ID does not change your music on your computer/device in any way. Aside from old refresh issues for DRM items.
Are you sure you didn't create a new library by accident? Use the spotlight to see where your computer sees your song titles.

    I guess I should clarify, what actually is happening is that when I attempt to play or burn a song downloaded when I had the old aol.com account, it says "you are not authorized to play X song. You must authorize your computer to play all songs purchased by 'karitag' (which was my old apple id through aol). Would you like to authorize now?" When I try to authorize it tells me that the apple id "karitag" does not exist. Well, it doesn't, because when that email account expired I converted to a regular iTunes account using my email address. Keep in mind this has only been an issue since I downloaded iTunes 7. It's just so frustrating to have half of my iTunes library (over 800 songs!) inaccessible.

    To update your iPhone you need to install the latest version of iTunes (10.5). You also need an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. The 3G cannot be upgraded beyond 4.2.1.

    The old email address may well still be valid as your iTunes AppleID, however if you have no other email associated with that ID you clearly won't get any automated emails to it.
    I still use an old defunct email for my iTunes AppleID.

    Ok so my computer had to be wiped and now after I redownloaded itunes all of my music, etc is missin. It will no longer Sync and my computer will not recognize it.. HELP PLEASE am desperate.  It says Apple mobile ddevice not started when I plug it into computer.

    Since yuor computer crashed, you have to reload your music into iTunes.  If in the USA you can redowload iTunes purchases by:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps first
    Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
    Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you have registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you have selected iMessage for use. Learn more abouttroubleshooting iMessage registration if the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use.

    If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
    1. Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
    2. Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
    3. Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
    4. Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.

    If the old ID ("email address") is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
