HT1918 Impact of Apple ID Change on iTunes Account Balance-Transfer

If I change my Apple ID (email address change) will an existing iTunes Store account balance be transferred to the new Apple ID?I

Can you share how to do this because I have the same problem - I had an account with an email that is no longer valid had to create another account but how do I transfer all my purchases plus my credit balance. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!  Jeannine

    We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
    The payment methods that are available in your country will show on your account. If debit cards aren't available on that screen then you won't be able to use it as your payment method.

    Do you mean that you've updated your existing account, created a new account, or want to do one of those ?
    If you've updated your existing account then to get that update reflected on an iPad, iPhone and/or iPod Touch then you may need to log out of the account on the device by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in in order to 'refresh' the account on it.
    If you've created a new account then you can log out and back in similar to above (and via the Store > Sign Out menu option on a computer's iTunes), but any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can authorise its content on a new computer, redownload it and download updates to its apps.

    The error means that your antivirus or firewall is blocking the update process.

    Your purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID (account) used to purchase them.  They can't be moved to another account and you can merge accounts.  You can start making new purchases with your iCloud ID if you want, but you will end up with two sets of purchases under two different IDs, adding further complication to your life.
    Also, your @icloud email address is an alias of your existing @me address; emails sent to either address will be routed to the same inbox.  You can decide which one you want to use as your default (as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5441) but you can't separate them.
