HT1918 iTune Store Billing Issues Affecting AppleTV Streaming

Hey community, I no longer operate a Windows or a Mac computer. I have found a better OS.  OpenSource Ubuntu.
How do I do my iTunes account billing without iTunes?
I am not going to reinstall Windows on my laptop doing a dual boot. just to fix an issue that Apple created.
I've been running Ubuntu for about a month, I've been watching my movies and listening to my music on AppleTV just fine, and now this.
Here is the message AppleTV is giving me: There is a billing problem with a previous purchase, Go to the iTunes Store on your computer and click Purchase History to resolve the problem.
There has never been a problem with streaming from the iTunes Store Server on Apple's end.
Do I sound up-set?
Thank you.

PS. I have no iOS divice too.

  • Content available in iTunes Store NOT available via AppleTV?

I'm sure this has been answered a thousand times over, but it's perplexing me and I found I can get answers quickly from the folks here.
Why is it that movies and TV shows that show up as available for rental or purchase in the iTunes Store, don't show up the same natively in the AppleTV interface?
For example, I missed last night's episode of the show "Breaking Bad." I can find it and download it just fine from the iTunes Store in iTunes, but when I search for that same show via the on-screen search on the AppleTV I yield no results. It doesn't find the show at all or even any reference to the network AMC. I see another AMC show "Mad Men" in iTunes but again not in the search function on the AppleTV. I even checked on my iPhone and indeed BOTH shows are available to download to my iPhone!
Do these not connect to the same database of shows? Why can I download something from my computer and stream it via Airplay but not just rent the content straight from the AppleTV? Is this a limitation of iOS or does it solely have to do with streaming vs. downloading?
    Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

I see. No internal hard drive so, streaming only.
Any idea if it's up to the networks to decide if content is purchase only?
Well, that's a real bummer. Certainly limits some of the usefulness of the ATV and it's connection to the iTunes Store if has to be tethered to a PC to access all the available content.
    Thanks for the reply!

  • Secure Link to itunes store failed issue

I cannot access the itunes store or even authorize my computer.  I have been working on this for months.  Done everything that Apple support emailed me and I am ready to go crazy.  My diagnostic shows secure link to itunes store failed.  Can anyone help?

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Using the new AppleTV, I cannot seem to find the same TV shows on the iTune Store as the older AppleTV. The selection is far more limited. For example, Modern Family is not available ... Any reason why?

I recently upgraded from an older AppleTV to the new AppleTV. The TV Shows I can access through the new AppleTV are far fewer than before. For example, I cannot find Modern Family on the iTune Store, whereas I used to be able to find it on my older AppleTV. Any reason why the selection is more limited?

I just found out the answer to my own post by browsing through other discussions. Looks like the new AppleTV only provides access to rental TV shows. Can't purchase anything ... So, the selection is far more limited. It's a drag, but at least the mystery is solved...

    Thanks!

  • Why does Itunes Store bill me extra charges?

I purchased my Ipad 2 months ago and of course created an Apple ID for Itunes Store.
This week I purchased 2 iphones. Those are being used on two different computers with Itunes but with the same Apple ID
Each time they want to download some free applications, I am getting charged 1 Dhs ( I'm living in UAE). I find this very strange as all three equipments have been registred with Apple under my Apple ID!
I suppose I am not the only person in the world having several Apple devices. If this is the normal procedure by Apple, they make very good money on our back!
If this is not normal how can I proceed to avoid this constant billing?
Thanks all in advance for your help

By the way we tried to register a new apple ID without credit card just as explained elswhere in the discussions but in our Itunes store this option is not available....

  • Cannot connect to iTunes store, longstanding issue

I have not been able to connect to the iTunes store for quite some time now, at least 5 months. It hasn't really mattered to me since I haven't needed to purchase or rip anything for a while, but in light of christmas, now I do!
Everything in iTunes works fine, my internet is normal, I just cannot connect to the store. I also have zune software on my computer and I have not been able to connect to the marketplace for the same amount of time. i suppose that because both of these issues are arising and i have fine internet connection, iTunes is likely not the issue, and my computer probably is. This being said, and though I have tried to find the solution to this issue elsewhere on the internet for a bit now, I still can't figure it out.
tl;dr: can't connect to itunes store, it's happened for a while, internet is fine, so what's wrong?

This problem is related to having your computer, Apple device, etc
(from your current physical location) being unable to resolve/connect to
the following site/domain names and their related IP address(s).
The following table is presented to help explain/clarify this issue:
    Site/Domain name | IP Address
    phobos.apple.com | 17.250.237.43
    deimos3.apple.com | 206.169.246.144
    albert.apple.com | 17.149.240.64
    gs.apple.com | 17.151.36.30
    itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.171
    ax.itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.139
If ANY of these sites/IP address are unresolvable (via PING for example)
then the ability/usability of Apple's iTunes (and the Store) will suffer.
To have yourself verify that (if) you can connect to these sites, you'll
need to open up a MSDOS/Command prompt window
and then type "ping" (without the quotes) and one of the (above) listed sites.
For example you would type the following at your command prompt:
ping phobos.apple.com (then press the return/enter key)
which (should) give you results like this:
pinging phobos.apple.com.akadns.net http://17.250.237.43 with 32 bytes of data:
Note: Anyt response other than "reply" (like Request timed out)
indicates a problem resolving the site's name to an IP address
and (generally) has NOTHING to do with your (normally functioning) computer
as this is dependent on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are
using to connect to the Internet (like Sprint, Insightbb, etc) with.
The 'key' here is that it's the ISP's responsibility to (properly) resolve
the site's name to (one or more of) Apple's sites.
If (however) Apple (itself) is (currently) experiencing a DDOS attack
(Distributed Denial Of Service) upon one (or more) of it's sites, then THAT
would explain a possible cause of the problem.
However I stress THAT is NOT the problem since I can connect from my Insightbb
(ISP provider) at home but (currently) can not connect at work via their ISP.
This is (also) WHY the "tag" of the FQDNSN (Fully-Qualified DNS Name)
is listed as http://akadns.net since that is the ISP/Router resolving the DNS name!
I hope that this has helped shed some light as to WHo's problem this REALLY is,
and will help to stop the Apple-User 'finger-pointing' game in it's tracks!

  • Itunes store connectivity issues

I am new to itunes. I have never connected to the store, however, I recently downloiaded version 8 and attempted to access the itunes store and received multiple errors. Specifically: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store unkown error -3212 and unkown error -11222" The term used was check your network connection and try again. Since I have read the previous posts, I must admit I'm a fairly pc illiterate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Problems connecting to the iTunes Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall or a firewall in a router, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security), an antivirus/antispyware utility, or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes Store Connection Troubleshooting
iTunes for Windows: Connection Issues when using Internet Filters, Accelerators, or Firewalls
Tunes for Windows could not establish a secure connection to the iTunes Store
iTunes for Windows: Possible iTunes Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you may need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Store. If none of what you read in those articles makes sense to you, you may want to recruit a friend or family member who's more experienced with computers to help you.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Store/Starbucks issue

Anybody else in Northern California having an issue with connecting to the iTunes Store at a Starbucks that has been configured to offer it?
I've noticed that both the iPhone and iPod touch are unable to connect to the iTunes Store in a Starbucks location if they are using the 1.1.1 (10a) firmware or later. I would have thought maybe this would have been addressed in the 1.1.2 firmware update, but the same issue persists. They probably aren't aware of it yet since the roll out for iTunes Store in Starbucks is only going on in Nor Cal right now.
iPhones/iPod touches with the (09a) version of 1.1.1 seem to connect to the iTunes Store in participating Starbucks' just fine.

    Try redownloading it via iCloud.

  • Is the iTunes Store having issues?

Just wondering, does any body else have trouble accessing the iTunes Store this weekend? I find that it takes me several tries of closing and reloading the program and a lot of screwing around with the actual loading sequences of the Store. Like I have to cancel it and reload it. Anyone else? Thanks!

It's been fine here in New Zealand, although there was a short period when images wouldn't load on some items but reloading the store made the images load properly. All seems fine today no more load issues.

  • Itune store access issues

I had to restore my PC to factory settings and then reinstalled itunes. I now can't access the itunes store - the moving bar at the top had been going for 45 minutes this time and I've deinstalled and reinstalled twice already.

  • ITunes Store Transaction Issue

Can someone tell me how to contact iTunes for Transaction issues?
    PROBLEM:
As you know, when we buy something from iTunes, it the "transaction details" says something like:
"OUTSTANDING TRANS#****-****-****-**** MISCELLANEOUS DEBIT DEBIT". (The "****" being the card number).
It has said that for the past several day in my "Transation History".
How do I know its iTunes? My Bank told me + Everytime iTunes stuffs up (as in I buy something, and its not registsredt rpoperly I have to give the security number on the back of your debit card). So this time, I put the Security Number in maybe a few times, thinking I had to, and each time I did. They took $1 debit from me.
    Has anyone else encountered this?

    Try redownloading it via iCloud.

  • ITunes, iTunes Store Crashing Issues

When I try to download TV shows I've purchased through the iTunes store, it takes literally days for the downloads. During this time, iTunes repeatedly crashes while downloading, usually after about 5 minutes of file downloading. The download suddenly stops and iTunes is unresponsive and "Quit" does not even appear in the drop down menu when trying to quit iTunes. "Quit" isn't grayed out - it just isn't there at all. Typically, also when this happens, the entire computer becomes completely locked up and I can't even use Force Quit. What ever I try just results in the spinning color wheel which goes on and on. Any one with any ideas? This is very frustrating!

It was an iMac file directory problem. Fixed and reinstalled everything and all is working.
