HT1918 Transferring iTune purchases between accounts

How do I transfer iTunes purchases to another AppleID (new) account?

You can't; only the iTunes Store staff might be able to do this for you.

  • Transferring iTunes Purchases Between Accounts

I have two Apple IDs, one iTunes ID and one Mobile Me ID. I don't want to have to move between the two. That is, use one for iTunes and another as my Mobile Me, but if I just use my Mobile Me one all my old purchases won't work or I'll have to constantly re-validate them with my old one. I want to delete my old one and transfer all my purchases to my Mobile Me account. Is this possible and if so how do I do it. Does it need to be done through Apple support?

  • Share itunes purchases between accounts

We are all getting new Apple products for Christmas.  We want to split our existing iTunes accounts into 3 separate accounts and share some of the purchased content between accounts.  Can we do that without having to share libraries or authorize account on each other's computers?

Purchases are tied to the Apple ID, you can't transfer

  • Possible to share iTunes purchases between accounts?

My 13 year old daughter and I have shared an iTunes account for several years.  As our icloud and photostream are also shared, we no longer want to share our account, but neither of us wants to lose the music. Is there a way to create a new account for her and both of us keep the music?  I don't think Homesharing is what we want as we both want the music to be on our devices. Help!

You can still share an account for purchases in iTunes and the App Store while having different Apple ID for each of you to use for iCloud, Photo Stream, mail, calendars, contacts, etc.

  • Transfering iTunes library between accounts in the same computer??

    Hi everyone
I use my MacBook both at home and in my office. I work in a small company, so everyone is very relaxed about security. I only have one account, but recently, while at the office I discovered someone browsing at some of my kids' pictures.
To avoid this,I decided to set up a "office" account. Everything went fine until I opened iTunes and found that I don't have any songs (they must have missed the memo about the new account!)
Is there an easy way to transfer those songs to my new account? I stress, this is the same computer we're talking about!!!
    Thanks

Do you mean they were viewing the pix on your computer? iTunes does not have pix for anyone to view. (This is the iTunes forum)

You created a new account on the computer?
If you are talking about the computer, open the first accounts - > System prefs - Sharing.
    Under Services, turn OFF everything.
    Under FireWall, turn it ON.

  • Can I transfer purchases between accounts?

I want my sister to get a new iTunes account, can I transfer purchases between accounts so that she can keep her stuff?

You can't currently transfer purchases between accounts as Apple haven't added that ability.  As long as the old account remains authorised on the computer that they sync to then they should be able to continue using that music, and it will remain on their phones.
If they do create their own accounts then if they turn on automatic downloads or re-download past purchases for an account then they risk tying the phone (or computer if that is where they do it) to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

  • Share iTunes purchases between two user accounts on the same Mac?

I have a Macbook Pro, for my bride and I, and a Macbook, for our kids. Both Macs are authorized on my iTunes account.
So, how can I share an iTunes Store purchased song on my account with my wife's? I understand how to turn on sharing and she can see my songs in iTunes on her account, but she cannot synch them to her iPod.
Now, I'm allowed to authorize an iTunes account on up to five Macs. I have two. But I have four accounts. Either way, I won't be exceeding five copies, but can't find a way to get a song I bought in my iTunes to my wife's iPod.
We use the same iTunes account but don't want to have to buy things twice to get them on her iPod. Just seems weird that I could put it on five machines but not two user accounts on the same one.

On my Mac Pro I moved the entire library to "Macintosh HD/Shared/iTunes". Changed the Folder location in iTunes Preferences->Advanced->General to point to that location. Then in each user change the Music/iTunes folder to be an alias or link pointing to the Shared/iTunes folder. You will likely need to change the permissions on that folder to give everyone the ability to read and write. Do that via "Get Info" on the iTunes folder using Finder. I'd suggest backing everything up before you do this.

  • Transfer app purchases between accounts

    Hi all,
Is it possible to transfer app purchases between two different accounts?
I trashed my old account as my iPhone was stolen. Recreate the account with the exact same information. Unfortunately I cannot update my apps as it says that I'm on a different account.
    Any idea how?
    Thanks.
    Cheers, JS.

:"Is it possible to transfer app purchases between two different accounts?"
    No.
"I trashed my old account as my iPhone was stolen. "
Why would you do that?  Just change your password.
". Unfortunately I cannot update my apps as it says that I'm on a different account."
because you started a new account.  not sure why you would do that.
    "Any idea how?"
You would have to sign into the old account in order to upgrade.  This is why you don;t go creating new accounts when you can just change your password.

  • Switching itunes purchases between computers

I bought a few things from the store and it stopped working so i'm using another one. How do I switch the purchases when I am unable to access my other computer?

  • Sharing itunes library between accounts

Hi my mom has just got an ipod for Christmas and wants to load up her songs. We share a computer but have separate accounts. She wants to have many (but not all) of the same songs that I have. Is it possible to share my itunes library with her so she doesn't have to reload all the CDs that we both like?

I did what the instructions said in the article "+Itunes:How to share music between accounts on a single computer"+ and I can see the music from my account but still cannot see it from my Mom's account.
Sorry about the double post, it was my first ever post and I thought I had it in the wrong place and could not see how to delete it.
Thanks for your help so far

  • Can you transfer a purchase between accounts?

I want to transfer some purchases that are on my iPad to my iPod touch but the iPad and iPod have different accounts. Can I still transfer the purchase?

    Jjaeger,
Keynote presentations created on Mac can be transferred to iPad easily in many ways:
    - Connect your iPad to iTunes and switch to the APP tab, scroll down to the application section, locate Keynote and place a copy of your Keynote file in the Keynote section and click apply - the file will be transferred to your iPad -- after you files are transferred, open Keynote on your iPad and in the Thumbail View of all the files Tap the "+" button on the upper left and Copy from > iTunes - your file will then be read in and opened in Keynote for iPad
    - Emailing a copy of the Keynote File to yourself is also an easy way to get your file onto your iPad - on your Mac open your Keynote file then Share > Email > Keynote and this will send you an email with your keynote attached. On your iPad, open your mail and TAP & HOLD on the Keynote Attachment, then Select Open In > Keynote. This will open your file in Keynote on your iPad
    - If you have Dropbox, you can transfer files that way as well using the Open In... option.
Note: you should be aware that not all features of Keynote for Mac are available on your iPad - you may encounter some font substitution and some builds, animations and movements may be substituted or omitted. Apple has posted a "Best Practices" article here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4114?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
And additional insights of how to transfer Keynote files can be found on your iPad in the Keynote Application under the Tools Menu (wrench) Help File in the section about Sharing your presentations.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transfer iTunes Library Between Accounts

I realize this should be simple, but...
I have an iMac; my wife has a Macbook Pro. Our iTunes library is on my iMac and was under my account with Home Share enabled. Since she couldn't create and maintain playlists from her Macbook, she would log onto my account to change them and update her iPhone. I grew tired of her changing things on my account, so I transferred all songs to a new account on my iMac by dragging the shared folder into "Music" in iTunes on the new account. All 11,000 + songs transferred, no problem. Then I created a .xml file from the old account (File ==> Library ==> Export Library) and imported that file into the new account (File ==> Library ==> Import Playlist). That recreated all of the playlists, but only imported a few of the play counts, date purchased, etc. Maybe 1% updated. I checked the .xml file in text edit - all of the information is present. Is there a way to make it work?
    Many thanks!

People have high hopes for that XML file, and those hopes are almost always disappointed.
A better approach is to simply make a copy of your entire iTunes folder and put it on the computer she uses. (If your library is not already consolidated, run Consolidate before you do the copy.)
That folder contains the library data as well as the content. After you do the copy she will have an exact replica of the library, including playlists, playcounts, etc. From that point on, she can start making playlists or adding, deleting, and modifying as she wishes, without affecting yours.
As you acquire new content, if the other likes it too, put a copy there via home sharing or other convenient means.

  • Sharing iTunes Music between accounts in Front Row

I have two accounts set on my computer. The primary account shares it's iTunes library with the secondary one. The shared music works fine inside of iTunes but when when I attempt to find the shared music on the secondary account via Front Row it states that it cannot find Shared Music. Does Front Row not have access to the shared music on other accounts on the same computer?
All my apps have the most resent updates.

I have the same problem. I think Cory made an assumption in his reply, that there is music in the library of the secondary accounts iTunes. My Secondary Account has no music at all in the iTunes library. In iTunes for the Secondary Account there are two sources of shared music available in the shared music folder, both play fine from iTunes. The first source is shared music from my primary accounts iTunes library, the second source is from the library of an XP based machine on my network.
When accessing shared music from Front Row logged in on the secondary account, the music shared from the XP machine is available as listed and named in iTunes, the music shared from the primary accounts iTunes library is not available.
Purchased the Mac Mini Dual Core yesterday, did all updates to software yesterday. Any ideas, anyone?

  • Sharing Itunes music between accounts on same computer

    Hi
Is it possible to share Itunes music library between three accounts on same computer so if my wife logs into her account she can see my music library

    This should help:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Note that when it says "publicly accessible location", it needs to be a place where everyone has read and write access. The most common such place is the Shared folder in the Users folder, but you can place the music elsewhere if you change the access permissions manually (don't start tinkering with permissions unless you're confident you know what you're doing and can reverse things if they get messed up).
    Regards.

  • Sharing itunes purchases between two authorized computers not working

    hello,
i currently own two apple laptops and want to be able to play my music that i purchased on one, on the other, as well. i have followed the instructions in other posts that tell me to 1, authorize the new computer, which i have done, and 2, if that works to go into a folder on my drive and delete it out to start fresh, which i have done, as well. however, when i click on the purchased songs, it is still telling me i need to authorize my computer. the computer, as i said, is already authorized.
    can anyone help with this?

I'm not sure I understand your second step. Couldn't you use the Home Sharing feature in iTunes 9 to accomplish this, as long as it's enabled for each? Both computers should be authorized with the same iTunes Store account, as you've done.
