HT1918 will i lose my music and apps when i change itunes account

can i change itunes account info and keep all my downloaded music?

Why would you make a new itunes account?
All of your purchases will be tied to the account from which they were purchasd.  You will need to authorize your computers for that account.

  • HT5796 If I change my Apple ID will I lose my music and apps?

I'm planning on changing my Apple ID but I'm worried I'll lose my music and apps and anything else I did while using my previous Apple ID. That's why I wanted to know if I'll lose the apps and music I had downloaded and paid for.

You won't, but they won't be transferred to the new Apple ID afterwards; the applications will need to be updated from the old one, and you may need to be signed into the iTunes Store with it to make in-app purchases from them.

  • Can i buy music and apps from a UK iTunes account in the UAE?

If I take my UK-bought iPad to Dubai in the UAE, will I be able to access my UK iTunes account to purchase music and apps (and iOS updates) whilst in Dubai? I've googled the issue but there are so many different answers that I need some sort of authoriative guidence, if anyone can help please. Is it correct that Apple will not allow iTunes transactions from non-UK IP addresses?

Here in the EU, free trade between EU countries should allow EU residents to buy whatever they want from any EU country. However, Apple's iTunes/App Store restrictions effectively block this, so I'm not sure how this is happening from a legal standpoint. I believe there may be some EU folks looking into it.
It's kind of weird that I can order a physical CD from any EU country and legally buy it from the UK. However, Apple prevents this for digital downloads by having it's "must have a billing address in the selected Store's country" rule. Basically going against EU free trade rules.
According to this article, it's to do with music licensing issues, which are done on a country-by-country basis, rather than the EU as a whole. But there are no such licensing issues with apps, so why Apple imposes the same restrictions I don't know.

  • I restored my ipod after backing it up but now all my music and apps that are in itunes on the computer will not sync

i restored my ipod after backing it up but now all my music and apps that are in itunes on the computer will not sync across

Did you restore the iPod on this computer?
What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • If I make an apple Id,will I lose my songs and apps

If I make an apple Id,will I lose my songs and apps?

You can create another Apple ID for yourself. The songs and Apps you bought will remain on your device. Whenever there will be an update to an App bought with your mum's Apple ID though, you will be prompted to enter her Apple ID and its password.
Same thing with the songs. If you delete them at anytime, a re-download will require her Apple ID and its password.
Apart from that, don't worry about creating a new Apple ID, you can have several different Apple IDs... just don't mess them up.

  • I had an old ipod touch. I got a new one. All of the music and apps are still on my account, but when I try to sync it the music and apps will not go on to my new ipod touch.

I had an old ipod touch. I got a new one. I still have all of the music and apps on  my itunes but I cannot sync it to my new ipod.

Are you sure you have iTunes set up to synch to your new iPod?  The reason I ask is that by default, iTunes will not automatically synch to a new device.  You have to go to the Apps tab and click Synch Apps, and do the same for Music, PodCasts, and so on....

  • How do I copy music and apps from iTouch to iTunes; PC crashed.

My wife gave me my itouch for father's day- go wife!  But the old PC that I synced it to crashed; I did not create a backup.  I will in the future.  How do I back up all the music and apps on the itouch to iTunes?  I already searched to no avail.
Already authorized the new computer, and already tried to search the support site.  I cannot find the answer.
    Can someone assist?

For non-Tunes purchased music you will need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • Lost my Job - did I lose my music and apps too?

    Hi all,
I've been syncing my iPhone at work for years. I'm now layed off, and do not have access to my work PC.
I've installed iTunes at home now, and I'm trying to get my data from my phone, into my fresh copy of iTunes.
The problem is it wants to overwrite my phone with my empty library from iTunes. Why can't I overwrite iTunes with my phone content?
Is this because Apple doesn't allow syncing on multiple PC's? If so, I'm screwed.
    Please advise.

I believe there may be utilities that will let you extract the music without the need to jailbreak. Google can be your friend... But... technically, sync is only supported 1 way Computer > Phone, as others have stated. If you don't own the originals of your music (CDs). You're probably out of luck if you can't find another way. You may be able to get Apple to allow you to re-download your apps. Hope you didn't register your itunes account using your work e-mail.
That said, for the benefit of anyone else who has a tendency to sync primarily with a work PC: Music stored on a computer owned or leased by the business is the property of the business. Many have policies prohibiting storing multimedia files on company computers unless they are specifically business related. Why? Because if the company can't prove they purchase the music legally in an audit of their systems, they are liable for heavy fines. Same as with bootlegging software.
Don't do it, people. It's bad news no matter how you slice it.

  • I have a different Apple ID but I have the same credit card thing as my dad's Apple ID. Is there a way to download the music and apps I bought on his account without buying them again on my Apple ID?

    I used to have the same Apple ID on my phone as my dad. I got a new iphone today and i wanted to have my own apple account. So i got one and used the same credit card as the one i used before. I bought a lot of songs and apps but now when i type it in it says i never purchased it since its a different Apple ID. Is there a way i can download them onto my phone again? please help ;-;

Sorry... Apple IDs cannot be merged...
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Lost music and playlist when updating to itunes 11

I have updated my windows computer to the latest iTunes software (11) and when I've opened iTunes, all of the music I've added or purchased for the past year or so (a lot of music) is now not showing as being on my computer, but is showing as on the cloud, and its showing as if I need to download the music to be able to play it.
I have also lost all playlists I've created, and they have reverted back to an old set of playlists from about a year ago.
I think when the new iTunes has downloaded, its reverted back to an old iTunes library with old podcasts, playlists etc, but still recognises that my music is somewhere in the cloud.
I like the new layout of iTunes 11, but I want my content, playlists etc to go back to the way they were yesterday!
I'm hoping its as simple as restoring a file, or finding a folder (I've looked for what looks to be the most recent content folder, but this doesnt seem to help).
    Please help me.....

I figured it out. I was trying to create the Smart Playlist for podcasts on the iPod, but I needed to create it on iTunes instead.

  • If i update my itunes ill i lose my music and apps?

i cant download books and some other apps unless i update but am worried if i update i will lose my whole library of songs and also apps??? any able to help???

Yes, it should be fine. But I would go out and purchase an external drive. You don't want to wait for something to happen.
I see many posts from people who have lost data and didn't have any backup.
Apps can be reloaded but data may be lost. Music can only be reloaded in the US. Never a good idea to only have something in one place.

  • Will it affect my music and apps if I make a new iTunes account for iMessage?

I made a new apple account and i want to know if it will affect my iPod if I do.

    Hi bakingkatie,
It sounds like you want to use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another for iTunes Store purchases.  Here's an article that should help explain how that will work:
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4895
When you set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use the same Apple ID for iCloud services and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore. You can also use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). You will get all the benefits of iCloud whether you use the same Apple ID for iCloud and store purchases, or different IDs for each.
    Have a good one!
