HT1923 my itunes stopped working a while ago and wont uninstall.

my itunes stopped working a while ago. i tried uninstalling it, probably in the wrong order. i am now trying to do it properly. when i get to step two "
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\" it tells me there is a program open using the files, but task manager doesnt show any open apple programs. anybody know which program i need to close? or if this is a just a bug that can be fixed by other means? thanks in advance

also before i tried uninstalling, it told me that 'itunes has a new library', or something simillar, if that helps

Itunes stops working trying to sync iphone 4

itunes stops working when I try and sync my ipone 4. message says itunes has stopped working and program will close. Unlike other threads I dont even get to a position where I get to 'unclick' photos and videos. I tried uninstalling and re installing itunes with no luck. Im using windows 7. have only had this problem since the new itunes download.

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Itunes stopped working error comes up as soon as it reads first track while importing CD and needs to close program (APPCRASH). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times - also ran CD diagnostics in iTunes and looks OK. I'm on Vista Home Premium Edition. If it will help I saved the CD Diagnostics from ITunes and the Windows APPCRASH info. I've spend several hours trying to figure this out. Any ideas?

Problem solved! I had my pc plugged into a port replicator to use a bigger screen, etc. When I unplugged it and tried to import the CDs it worked fine. Not sure why I got the error but whenever I get unexpected errors in the future, I will take it off the replicator to eliminate that possibility. Thanks to all who reviewed.

Problem solved! The workgroup name for the PC and the MyBookLive were different. I changed the names to be the same and remapped the MyBookLive iTunes folder to a drive letter on the PC. I then changed iTunes to use the library through the mapped drive (instead of the fully resolved network name), and sync now works with the iPad. I still don't understand why it didn't work before because iTunes is still using the same library. It's just accessed differently

ITunes Stops Working when I Sync

Does anyone have a clue for me? I've had no problems syncing my phone until a couple of days ago. Now when I try to sync it causes iTunes to stop working and gives me a message that the problem will be solved if I get the lastest version of iTunes. Oh wait! I have the lastest version! I even uninstalled iTunes and redownloaded it and installed it... No change...

Same problem here with Win 7 64 bit & iphone 4. It all started a few weeks ago with itunes upgrade 10.4.8. After about 20 hours wasted time, uninstalling and re-insstalling all Apple products in the suggested order as suggested on another forum. Still had the same problem. Will sync fine until I check the "videos" tic box. Itunes stops working in the step of "optimizing photos" (????). If I go back and uncheck "videos" tic box, iphone4 will sync just fine. BUT now all my videos previously on my iphone are on the PC. I would like them back on my phone!
I gave up and went to the Apple Store to visit with a Genius. Took my PC and everything with me. It was not from lack of trying, she did all the same stuff I did and checked everything over. Could not fix it. She said it appeared everything on my PC was set corrrectly and the problem was probably with itunes. Said she always waits a little while when updates come out to make sure there are not bugs before putting them on her stuff. Lesson learned.
I hope with Steve Jobs gone, this is not the future of Apple

Hi I am using Itunes 12.01.26 on a Windows 7 PC
My library is saved on a nas server and the network drive is mapped.
I have an ipod 5 and Iphone 5s
Up until october this configuration has works a treat however since about October I have had difficulting in Syncing.
I cannot sync my music - everything i try fails so as a last resort i have tried to restore my devices.
Itunes stops working when it gets to the stage of copying the apps.
I have read a suggested solution to move the library to the local C drive but this does not seem to be reasonable solution particularly as my library is large.

First we need to check your precise version number, elektra. In iTunes go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
Do you see *iTunes 10.1.0.54* ? If so, we need to update you to version 10.1.0.56 . It probably wont appear for you in Apple Software Update if you already have a 10.1.0.54 already installed, so you'll need to download the installer from the Apple Website, as per the following document:

It sounds like your phone is not successfully booting even though you have reset the device. I would next recommend attempting a backup and restore to iTunes with this article:

it sounds like you are unable to use iTunes because it either will not launch without this error, or you get the error when you are using it. Sorry to hear about that, that can be pretty aggravating. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue, named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues

Start with opening iTunes in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If not, the article will help you troubleshoot for 3rd party plugins that may be causing it:
Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.

My iphone syncs perfectly but my wife's iphone immediately starts syncing and itunes stops working. any ideas?

I have reset the phone, reinstalled itunes, deauthorized and then authorized my computer and held down the top button and the main button to reboot. Oh, and I also ran diagnostics from the advanced tab. While the diagnostics was running, I was able to plug the phone in without itunes shutting down. As soon as I ended the diagnostics, the phone began to sync and a message appeared saying "itunes has stopped working"
