  • Cannot uninstall iTunes from Control Panel

Hello. I'm very sorry if this is wrong, but I couldn't see an uninstall forums, and it is to do with installing and upgrading in a slight way.
I am having trouble getting my iTunes to upgrade so I can put music onto my iPod Touch, so I've decided to uninstall and reinstall. However when I go to the Control Panel, the Safely Remove Programmes option, I can clearly see "iTunes" and can click it, but when I right click it, it doesn't have the option to uninstall.
I've had a problem like this with Steam once before, which caused me to have to search the Regedit and delete every mention of Steam. Will I have to do this, or is there an easier way?
    Thank you for reading
P.S. For those of you who want more info, when I tried to update it it said it could not finish the upgrade and if it happened again to manually install it.

Im having the same or very simlar problem. would you kindly share how you managed to solve it?

  • HT1925 Can't Uninstall iTunes from my Window XP machine

The iTunes update site said nothing about uninstalling in a particular order. So I uninstalled the first component I came to in Control Panel which was "Apple Mobil Device Support". Now I can't uninstall iTunes. It tells me it is located in a network device which is not available to me, but it is on my "C" drive. How do I uninstall iTunes now? I can't install the new version till I get rid of the old. Help?

  • HT1925 I am getting a fatal error message when I try to un install itunes from Control Panel on my PC, so now I cannot un install it at all, any suggestions?

I need to un install itunes on my PC. I have windows XP. when I go into my control panel and select to un install it goes through the proper steps then gives me a fatal error message and therefore cannot remove it. Any suggestions?

An error occurred while attempting to create the directory c:\Program Data\Apple\Installer Cache"
That sounds like a permissions problem. Vista uses that Trusted Installer account to install software. I don't know why it wouldn't have the correct permissions, though.
Make sure you have FULL control over all the C: drive, and try turning off UAC during the install:

  • Win 7 After uninstalling Firefox from Control Panel, "The action can't be completed because the folder or file in it is open in another program"

Update failed numerous times. Uninstalled FF using Control Panel. Followed instructions to delete the Mozilla folder from AppData/Local/Mozilla. Then the "Folder in Use" prompt comes up and I have to cancel the delete. Folder was created 4/8/2011, but I can't find the folder using the search command. Can't install a fresh install of Firefox 18. Using Windows 7 64-bit. I no longer have FireFox on my system that I can see.

    Okay, I drilled down further:
Specifically, the files I cannot delete are:
A driver with the following location:
              Program Files > Common Files > Apple > Internet Services > ShellStreams.resources > en.lproj >ShellStreamsLocalized.dll
And a driver with the following location:
               Program Files > Common Files > Apple > Internet Services > ShellStreams64.dll

  • I can't uninstall; tried from control panel and from the uninstaller help file.

all explained above. nothing will remove this program from my computer...windows 8.1

    Hey bmatthewb
Sorry to hear you are not enjoying firefox as much as we are, and it seems your firefox doesnt want you to part either.
    Try deleting it manually:
Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    Windows:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Once done empty recycle bin and see if it is then listed in your programs from the control panel.
Hope this helps and get back to us so it is easier for other users to find the solution if they have the same prob :)

    Hi,
I have some old software that I want to move to a new PC. I can not find the original MSI & the vendor no longer supplies the file. If I choose 'Uninstall/Change/Repair' in Control Panel the required MSI pops up. How can I find the location
of this file on the PC, I have tried may searches but can't find it.
    Thanks
    Paul.
    Paul Wainwright

    Hi Paul,
You need the complete installation package to install it to new computer. We cannot the it from Control Panel.
Unless you keep the original installation package, you couldn't get it any more.

I cannot uninstall iTunes version 10.7.0.21 from my laptop (windows 7), therefore I cannot install the new iTunes version....!
Every time I try to do it, a "message" from the windows installer pops up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable", I try to find the installation package "iTunes.msi" but I can never find it either...!
The funny part is, I can still use this version, but I would like the have the update, which can make my computer much faster than now!
    Can someone help me out??

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • IPhone 5 not recognized by iTunes - Cannot uninstall iTunes

When I connect my iPhone 5 to my PC, the iPhone is no longer recognized. I tried to unintall iTunes (so that I could re-install it) but now I get an error when trying to unintall it from Control Panel that reads "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file exists and is writable." I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.

I was able to uninstall and reinstrall iTunes, but my Iphone does not appear in iTunes, nor in Windows Explorer on my Windows 7 desktop. But it does appear in both iTunes and Windows Explorer on my laptop which runs Windows 8... How can I get it reconginzed on my desktop?

  • I have uninstalled iTunes from an XP laptop and I now get the iTunesHelper Error2 screen (Apple Application Support was not found).

    Hi All,
I have uninstalled iTunes from an IBM ThinkPad X40 running XP and I now get the iTunesHelper Error2 screen (Apple Application Support was not found). I do not want to re-install iTunes as I am now a mac user. However I want to get rid of the message from the XP machine as it is irritating and I want to use it standalone for something else.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,

Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album.  These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer.  If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.  To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar.  Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices.

Doublechecking something Emcee. I see you've got Windows 7 x64, so I'm assuming you've got at least 4 GB of RAM. Do you also have an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset on that PC? If so, see the following Microsoft document:
