HT1925 Itunes reinstall error 2404 missing component

I removed and reinstalled Itunes. got all the way to the end and it is stuck at Status about 2 bars from the end. I opened C programs & see Itunes & others, Bonjour and Apple Software Updates.  I opened Itune & get error. Itunes component missing repair or reinstall itunes (-42404).  how do i find what's missing?
really all im trying to do is access my itunes account use sync phone, ipod from my desktop PC.  Which is the same error (42404 i got when trying to authorize using my old itunes version that led  me to remove and reinstall new.  Trying to authorize  the new version Im back where i started.Missing component.  It is accessable from my laptop, iphone and ipad.

Problem solved.
1. Download and install WinRAR (or 7-Zip)
2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR" (or 7-Zip).
3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".  (In my case, it didn't even ask to repair, it just installed it.

  • Can not update itunes.  Error of missing file itunes64.msi

I am trying to update my iTunes software to version 11.0.1.  I am running windows 7.  I get an error message itunes64.msi is missing.  (within the message it says the feature is on a network that is unavailable).  When I google it there are many references to this error, but no quick and easy solution.  Any thoughts?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

When I try to download a song I receive the following error "A required component is not installed.  Please repair or reinstall (-42404).  I have tried to reinstall and still receive the same error.

This procedure might work or might not work:
Download the free Ccleaner and repair your Registry

Uninstall iTunes according to Apple's directions here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Use Ccleaner and repair your Registry again just in case.
Then download/install iTunes again from the Apple website
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Your iTunes content will not be removed,
Please regularly backup your iTunes content to external medium (hard drive, cd/dvd's) using the File>Backup Library in iTunes. Apple will not reissue new copies of content.

  • I am trying to install itunes on my pc again but keep getting an error that says'apple application support was not found. try reinstalling itunes.' error 2

I am trying to install itunes on my pc again but keep getting an error that says'apple application support was not found. try reinstalling itunes.' error 2.
We have had itunes on this pc for 2 years and recently it wouldn't open and another error message kept popping up saying it couldn't open because MSVCR80.dll was missing. I have unistalled the apple programs and tried reinstalling several times but to no avail. Hopefully my music library is not gone. Any Ideas out there?

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes 10.5 will not install on HP Laptop Vista X64 - get message "Please reinstall Error 7 (Windows error 5)  I eventually gave up after trying many suggestions, so, I tried to install 10.4.1 and it installed by I get this msg "42404" error

I cannot install iTunes 10.5.1 - after a successful installation I get the message "Please reinstall - Error 7 (Wiindows error 5).  I've deleted iTunes, Quicktime and have tried for hours to get the X64 version to install and run.  I finally uninstalled 10.5 for the 5th time and installed 10.4.1 - it installed and I was able to see my music - however, now I get "A required iTunes component is not installed - repair or reinstall - (42404).  I've uninstalled and reinstalled 10.4.1 several times and this message still comes up.  I'm really tired of this - hours wasted to say it mildly.  HELP

Praise God - I found the solution after hours of work: (1) Uninstall all Apple programs (itunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, .....); (2) Go to "Common Files" and delete all Apple files - this might be difficult for some are locked from you - you may have to change the "Owner" of the file in order to delete it - if that doesn't work "Rename the Apple Follder to something like Apple Old - that's like deleting it.  Then download 10.5 from Apple and away you go - yippee.

  • Problem Intalling iTunes; Missing Component

Okay so I haven't updated my iTunes to the latest one and whenever I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8, iTunes needed to be updated as well for it to sync. So I did, and it crashed while updating. So I uninstalled it the safe way, the one where you have to remove the components in order and re-install it again. When I tried to download it again (with it's latest update) it would finish downloading and it would say "Open iTunes when finished" and when I click finish, it would come back saying its missing a component. It would pop up two notifications: the first one saying,
    iTunes Helper
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support to run required to run iTunesHelper. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
    Error 2
    The Second one would say:
    iTunes
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again
    Error 2 (Windows error 2)
Figured when you re-install iTunes it would re-install the components too but undoubtedly not since when I do uninstall iTunes (typing in Control Panel "apple" usually brings up iTunes and its components) it doesn't show all of the components that should've came with it. How do I fix this problem? And how do I get Apple Application Support back? If it helps, I have a PC with Windows 7 64-bit.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Application Support won't install normally.

  • CS4 Fatal error- missing component

I just recently transferred my CS4 onto my new Mac desktop. Now, everytime I open CS4 I get the following message, Fatal error - missing component. I can push ok, and go onto my editing in phohtoshop,
but once I try to save or save as any kind of file, it tells me, can not complete your request because of a photoshop error. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

If I un-instsall and reinstall the app will I still have it on my computer, or will I need the serial number or anything, or will my computer still recognize it?
I just don't want my CS4 to get lost, and I'm afraid I might not be able to find my serial # I have for my photoshop to reinstall. Not sure what reinstalling consists of.

  • Illustrator CS3 Won't Work "Fatal Error - Missing Component", HELP!

    HELP!
I have installed adobe illustrator CS3 and when i try to open it it comes up "Fatal Error - Missing Component" underneath stating: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS3/Client/3.0.0/VersionCue.framework. Is there anything i can do? Any help would be much appreciated.

Looks like a permission problem where the folder or directory containing the framework my be not be avaiiable.
I would go to Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers and run the Illustrator CS3 Uninstaller.
Trash the preferences if they have not been removed and check the Application Support an Cache folders to certain there are no remnants of CS3 on system.
Then reinstall. Do not install version cue with this new install.

  • I could not install the upgrade for iTunes and Error message said "can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing" Reinstallling has not helped. Is it Apple's fault?

I could not install the upgrade for iTunes and Error Message said " Can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing". Reinstalling has NOT helped. . Is the fault with the Apple iTunes upgrade?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
