HT1926 Error received while installing QuickTime for WIN XP

Here is the error:  "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
It then goes on to list a folder ("_is17C") it expects the QUICKTIME.MSI file to be in which is non existant.  I do a search and find the file in a different TEMP folder ("IXP353.TMP") and select it.  It thinks for a bit then returns a message that "the file selected is not a valid installation package for the product QuickTime".   I have stripped every vestige of the old QuickTime, Itunes and Apple Software from my computer, but the error remains.  Can anyone help out there?   I have a nagging feeling that this may be an issue of Permissions on my administrator account which I can't do anything about because I don't have GPEDIT.MSC on my XP.

I seem to think you have and old QuickTime .msi file lingering that is hindering the installation. Which is located in C:\WINDOWS\Installer which you may or may not be able to locate and delete.
If you can't then try running Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from this website. Someone said it no longer exsist, but I think it does. If no luck post back

  • Error message while installing QT for Windows 7.1.3

While installing Quicktime I get the message:
Error reading from file: C:\Program Files\Quicktime\QTSystem\QTJava.zip. Verify the file exists and that you can access it.
    Abort Retry Ignore
I checked the directory and the file is there. Clicking Retry does not seem to help. If I Ignore the installation proceeds but the player doesn't work properly. I have to Abort installation for now.

let's try getting a QuickTime 7.1.3 installer log to the Apple Engineers for a look.
first, doublecheck that all itunes and quicktime has been removed from the PC as per:
Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows
now download and save a copy of the standalone QT 7.1.3 installer to your hard drive:
Quicktime 7.1.3 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop QuickTimeInstaller.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of QuickTime you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing
(probably best to explicitly mention that you're attaching a QT log, too. most of the logs Roy gets through that channel are iTunes logs.)

  • Error occured while installing updates for itunes 10.6.1

I have been having issues lately trying to install my updates to iTunes.  I keep getting an error message that says "Error occurred while installing the updates.  If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."  This happened on the last update as well, and the install manually didn't work.  I eventually had to uninstall iTunes and reinstall the latest version.  But, if I keep doing this, I have to re-add all of my music folders, and recreate all of my playlists for every single update that comes out.  That means like once a week.  Does anyone know why I keep getting this message?
I have submitted a screenshot if that helps.
Also, I am running windows 7 on my computer.  Thank you

Hmmm. I was wondering if it was an issue with a broken setupadmin.exe mucking up the works (because it's a tiny little file). But it's apparently the itunes64.msi causing us grief.
Plausibly, we might be looking at a disk/file damage thing that is preventing the msis and so forth from saving correctly. If so, running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C:\ Drive might help.
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

I recieve the following error message when trying to install Quicktime for Windows "Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."  I just trying to get the latest version of iTunes.  Thanks

"Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

    Hi Selva,
Can you download the ISO file from this site?
    Download Windows Technical Preview
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dn783436
If so, please download the installer and make a DVD or bootable USB, then try to perform the installation from there.
    Check following things first:
1.Disconnect any devices connected to the PC.
2.Disable/uninstall all anti-virus software (be sure to enable/reinstall later)
3.Install all important updates from Windows Update before updating.
If you still fail to install Windows, you will find $Windows.~BT under C drive (the system drive), please make sure to show up the Hidden file.
Then, locate to the $Windows.~BT folder and find \Sources\Panther\setuperr.log and setupact.log, please upload them to a file sharing service like Onedrive or "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

  • "OS X Update Combined (10.8.2) can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating Javascript for the package."

Need help with "OS X Update Combined (10.8.2) can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating Javascript for the package."
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks

Well, I've tried your solution without luck.
So, I tried reinstalling OS X Mountain Lion (without formatting the HDD) and it worked! I did it like this:
    - Turned on my MBP while holding down Command-R to start OS X Recovery
    - Chose the option to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion
After a while, the system rebooted and OS X 10.8.2 was already installed. All my data remained on the HDD since I didn't format it before reinstalling OS X.
Hope it helps some of you with the same problem.
