HT1926 I am having trouble installing 64-bit iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit.

Initially the program installed except for the Apple Mobile Device service and SOftware Updater service. Tried a complete uninstall and reinstall. Now, it aborts in mid-install. Seems to be related to permisions. Suggestions?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Having trouble installing PS CS5 Extended in Windows 8.1

    Greetings:
I installed this product previously on another computer that ran Windows 7.  I had issues at the time and was able to resolve them, one of which was a bad serial number.  I just purchased a laptop with Windows 8.1 and am unable to install this product.  Here is what I did:
    - Disabled Virus program and shut down all other programs
    - Started the installation from a CD
    - Went through the normal process, serial number, log in info, etc.
    - I selected only the CS5 64 bit version and the region (US),
    - After about 20 seconds, a pop up appeared and it asked me to install the installation disc.  I did so and was not able to move the installation process forward.
    Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Gary

    Hello Mylenium:
I did as you suggested and it worked much better.  Very smooth process.
    Thank you for your suggestion.
I do have another problem, this time with the serial number and I think I
may have to call Adobe on this one.
I purchased this license from someone on eBay.  He assured me the license
number was good.  The CD came in a case with the original serial number
printed on the cover.  When I installed CS5 on my other computer, I was
having similar troubles and spoke to one of the support people.  He gave me
another license number that worked.  I have since uninstalled CS5 and did
not deactivate the license.  Perhaps that is the problem.
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you again for your help.

  • I'm having trouble installing iCloud 4 on a window 8.1 laptop

I have been successfully using iCloud 3 on my Windows 8.1 laptop. When I try to install iCloud version 4 it stops due to errors. Is anyone else having this issue?

I am also having the same problem on a Windows 8.1 desktop computer.
When I tried to install iCloud for Windows version 4.0 using the Apple Software Update tool, I got the error message "Errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."
When I tried the manual install by running iCloud64.msi from the downloads folder, the install failed with a different error:
"There is a problem with the Windows Installer package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Next, I ran iCloud64.msi with administrator privileges from the command line with the error logging option:  iCloud64.msi /le errs.txt
This is the contents of the resulting error log file:
    === Logging started: 9/21/2014  9:04:17 ===
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.  Action RuniCloudUpgrade, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\, command: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloud.exe /upgrade
    === Logging stopped: 9/21/2014  9:04:34 ===
I tried running the command iCloud.exe /upgrade, as suggested in the error log, but this command did not seem to have any effect.  Another iCloud install attempt failed with the same errors.
I have iTunes version 11.4.0.18 on my computer. Previously, I had been using iCloud control Panel version 3.1 on my computer without problems.

  • Trouble installing upgrade for iTunes in Windows 7

I can't seem to upgrade iTunes on my new Windows 7 laptop. I was successful installing it when I originally setup my new laptop a couple months ago and have no issues running the program itself but whenever it prompts me to upgrade to the latest version and it starts installing a dialog box pops up that reads:
The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
Errors occurred during installation.Your system has not been modified.
Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit.
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

the download has a "utility", for want of a better description, where you can tweak the settings so assume the Win 7 download does the same.

Run Windows or find a Mac version of the software or buy a Windows computer.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • (Solved) Having trouble installing vlc and openoffice

I am having trouble installing both VLC and Openoffice.
    VLC
    I tried typing in:
    yaourt -S vlc
At first, it finds the package, and the first time I did it, downloaded quite a bit of stuff, and then it failed after installing a rather large package and then says :
error: failed retreiving file 'vlc-0.9.9a-6-i686.pkg.tar.bz' from archlinux.unix.heads.org : Not Found
Any idea what may be causing this?
    OpenOffice
    I tried typing in:
    yaourt -S openoffice
Then it said it could not find openoffice in my /etc/customizepkg.d and then asks me to change my PKGBUILD and I had no idea what to edit in it.
Then, it tried to install it,  and it tells me svn is not found in AUR.
What does this mean and how can I get openoffice?

You need to use the -y flag to update your local repository list.
    Ie pacman -Sy
You can conveniently combine all of your tasks..
    pacman -Sy vlc openoffice-base
Error retrieving a file means either
    A) The mirror you are using is updating itself and you were unlucky enough to sync right when it was doing so.. youll need to wait a little while and try -Sy again then..
    B) Related to A.. your database could be either older or newer than the mirror you are using. If you switched mirrors recently, this happens sometimes. Most mirrors update ~daily, but some update ~weekly. -Sy to sync.. you could try -Syy to force a full sync so that even lists of supposedly up-to-date repositories (core, extra,so forth) are synced (doing so is only good/useful if you have problems)..
    C) Your mirror is offline.. change it to another one in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
    D) Your internet is not running / your DNS is not working properly.. try to ping a site you know is online to be sure. Google is always a good choice. ping www.google.com. You can ctrl+c to end it if it responds as expected. Fix your internet (see the wiki) and domain name server (/etc/resolv.conf and your router) if you have problems.
You may or may not also wish to pacman -Scc in order to clean out your cache of saved packages in case there is a download problem.
Your post gives the impression you don't understand pacman vs yaourt.. apologies if i'm wrong, but just in case:
Pacman is used for official binary repository files. Yaourt can do pacman's job in addition to its own with the same syntax (imo it does a pretty slow and lousy job of such though), but it's real original function is primarily to install 3rd party / community packages that the Arch devs either can't or won't maintain (and most often, have not "ok"ed them as safe to install). You should look at yaourt in the wiki.. when it asks you to change the pkgbuild I imagine you mean when it says 'what do you want to edit it with?'.. which you dont need to edit it at all. The reason it asks you is because yaourt can install stuff from AUR, which like I said is 3rd party / community stuff that can contain something malicious (AUR is open to submissions, unlike the official repositories) and you are highly advised to look it over for something fishy before compiling and installing. FYI -- believe me, you don't want to compile openoffice without reaaally good reason on a really fast machine. It hurts. Your machine will be as usable as a doorstop for a very long time while it's doing it's business. Just save your time and patience, install the compiled binary via pacman instead.
Please use the wiki, forum search functions, and man pages. Most of the Arch community is friendly and knowledgeable, but people get (rightly) irked when their work maintaining the aforementioned to answer queries like this one are ignored.

  • Having trouble installing CS5.5 on lion 10.7.3?

Are you having trouble installing CS5.5 on your mac (os lion 10.7.3)? Are you tired of receiving error reports (i recieved "exit code: 24" numerous times)?  there is an easy way without hacking your mac into bits. start your comouter in security mode (hold down the shift key while your mac boots). Pop the CS5.5 Application 1 dvd into the drive and follow the instructions. no problems. no exit codes. no hassel. no swearwords. just an installation that works. why this is necessary is a mystery to me. but it works. after installing, don't forget to restart your mac in order to exit of security modus and return to normality;)
i hope this helps a few lost souls like me who have wasted hours of their time over the past couple of days. correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't updates suppose to make things work better?

    Hi..
You can disable the Lion resume feature.
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:   Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
As for Facebook, select "Keep me logged in" ..   even if the page refreshes, you should stay logged in.
Click on the image once to enlarge.
For help to avoid Safari from auto refreshing pages, go to   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
For Lion v10.7x:  To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash. Quit then relaunch Safari.
