HT1926 msvcr80.dll error

not a quicktime error, this is a itunes error

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Hello< I have windows 7, I tried to install the new itunes version, last night 1/30/14, Im getting msvcr80.dll error 7 (windows error  126). Does anyone have a remedy for this? When I try to uninstall the ituned program it says it can't be found and to make sure I have permission to uninstall.

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. I did the following:
    1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replaced)
    2) Restarted computer and still got error message
    3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
    4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not recomment in their posted solutions but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
    5) Restarted computer.
    6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try.

  • HT1923 msvcr80.dll error on Windows 7

I began with a msvcr80.dll error on Windows 7. Searching I discovered it was iTunes giving me grief so I attempted to uninstall it.
I tried the steps on an Apple web page (can't find it now but it is the same here: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/msvcr80-dll-not-found-missing -error.htm
This didn't work for me. The C:\Program Files\Bonjour and both C:\Program Files\Commons\Apple folders would not delete. I tired to use an unlocker too wihtout success. Those extra files all refused deletion.
Everytime I try download the new version of iTunes for re-installing it gives the option to save but when clicked it goes directly to a "you have downloaded successfully" page but it isn't in my downloads. I have tired several times.
Now I have uninstalled iTunes, still have the missing file error and no access to iTunes for home or work!
I am completely stumped and extreamly frustrated. Any ideas how I can fix this error, install iTunes correctly please?
Any ideas how I got this in the first place too?
    Thank you

    Hello aristilus2,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes.  I suggest removing and reinstalling iTunes for the issue you described.  The following article has steps to do this, and I recommend removing iTunes and all related componenets as outlined in the article:

  • TS5376 we are getting the MSVCR80.dll error on our home computer. If we uninstall iTunes do we loose all our songs and info in our iTune library?

we are getting the MSVCR80.dll error, it saysit an APSDaemon.exe system error. If we uninstall iTunes, do we loose our library?

I had the same problems.  It is a glitch with iTunes and the PC.  I found an article that helps you fix your problem step-by-step at http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/msvcr80-dll-not-found-missing -error.htm .  Follow the uninstall and reinstall directions as exactly stated in the article and your problems will be solved.  It took a while, but it worked!  And most importantly, you do NOT lost your song library.    Good luck!

  • Just reinstalled itunes due to need to fix msvcr80.dll error; now itunes wont run because itunes library.itl cant be read created by newer version itunes.  how do i resolve this ?

    just reinstalled itunes due to need to fix msvcr80.dll error;
now itunes wont run because itunes library.itl cant be read created by newer version itunes.
how do i resolve this ?

By way of experiment, let's first try specifically choosing a library for iTunes to open.
Quit iTunes if that error message is showing. Now hold down your Shift key, and then open iTunes. (Keep holding down the shift key while iTunes is opening.)
You should see a dialog asking you if you want to choose or create a library, as per the following screenshot:
    Click "Choose Library ..."
You should now see a screen like the following screenshot:
Select the "iTunes Library.itl" file (shown circled in the screenshot) and click "Open".
Does your iTunes library open without the error?

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components
If applicable, disconnect any iPod or iOS device and close Microsoft Outlook.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later).
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (see note 1 below)
    iCloud (if present)
MobileMe (if present) (see note 2 below)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot your computer. Delete any of the following folders where they can be found: (see note 3 below)
    C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files\iPod
    C:\Program Files\iTunes
    also on 64-bit systems:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Download the iTunes setup file and run it to install. Use an account with administrative rights. This can usually be achieved by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as... or Run as Administrator. In some cases a combination of Shift or Ctrl keys may be required for the option to show, or it may not be necessary.
If you deleted iCloud and reinstalling iTunes doesn't automatically reinstall it visit iCloud Control Panel.

  • I tunes won't open because MSVCR80.dll error - and can't re-install itunes either - now what?

Today I went to open iTunes and received the MSVCR80.dll error - unable to open iTunes.
After Googling for a solution, I found the Apple walkthrough on how to copy your .DLL files to your desktop, uninstall iTunes and reinstall.
When I tried to reinstall iTunes, I got an error in the "starting services" part of the installation process and was not able to complete the install.
    Now what?
I am getting incredibly ****** off with iTunes - a horrible user interface and no support available even though I've spent hundreds (if not thousands!) of £££ over the years through the store.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Msvcr80.dll error is this a bug.  Will Apple provide a fix?

I recieved a message for an updated version of itunes.  However, after installing the newer version, itunes stopped working and began sending a MSVCR80.dll error.   Is this a bug?   Is Apple aware of how many users this is impacting?   Will Apple provide a fix?  This is unacceptable.

MSVCR80.dll errors and other problems plague iTunes 11.1.14 on Windows

I question the appearance of commercial solutions on blogs associated with a longstanding newsletter.
Next, where is apple's solution? Does apple fully realize the extent of the problem; and, that commercial "solutions" are curiously available?
I'm posting this from the vantage of frustration. Meanwhile, I'm waiting until apple posts a new build of 11.1.14 for Windows. With deference to the great apple support and other techies, I found your solutions convincing; but, not totally applicable to all users. The msvcr80.dll errors are not disappearing until apple presents a substantial corrective build or revision upgrade to account for all users.
At least my machine has not 'frozen' or incurred other side-effects. My iPad2 appears alright. I am NOT buying a solution: I'd buy a new machine first! Or, use iTunes 11.1.13 instead - which works first, sincerely - tankie67

It's now February 16, 2014. The tt2 guide supplied by Kappy and b noir provided every bit of information that I needed. My thanks to tt2, Kappy, and b noir for their authoritative, in-depth knowledge of the apple software and computer technology, generally. The only difference in my repair was that I used my internet security software to check for any possible viruses or other malware, deleted all non-essential and other elements no longer needed, cleaned my registry, and performed a complete backup of all data related to my dissertation and related research materials.
Except for one instruction, the entire procedure was followed without any problem. iTunes is working on my wife's PC for her audiobooks and iPad mini. Last, I have provided my negative findings for other users, as follows:
I could not eliminate Apple Mobile Device Support, but I did not want to use Fixit until I installed the iTunes application. If I could not install the new iTunes application or could not use it; then and only then would I have used Fixit. Furthermore, in the Apple folder under Common files, I found the entire application folder materials for Apple Mobile Device Support. It was properly deleted without any problem.
NOTE: Fixit is best used when you cannot destroy the folder contents and have tried every other method first. Caution: Please read the Windows cautions before using Fixit.
