HT1926 My .msi file is missing, and I can neither download nor uninstall iTunes. Can someone help?

When I tries to update my existing iTunes, I could not do it because I did not have the .msi file it needed. So I tried to uninstall, but I can't even do that because of that missing file. Could anyone please help me? I'm getting desperate here, and I'm scared that I won't be able to use iTunes after a while.

When I tries to update my existing iTunes, I could not do it because I did not have the .msi file it needed. So I tried to uninstall, but I can't even do that because of that missing file.
Assuming here that the particular missing msi file is either the itunes.msi or the itunes64.msi.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

it keeps telling me some files were missing and reinstall itunes how do i do this ??????

You should first uninstall iTunes completely.
This is not an easy task!
Read this article on how to remove iTunes completely
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/23959/completely-remove-itunes-and-other-apple-so ftware-from-a-windows-computer/
Then download the latest version of iTunes for your Windows Version and install it.

Master reset...? Your device was jailbroken prior to you purchasing the device. The only symbol you should see on reboot is an Apple symbol. Download redsnow... google it! Download the latest version and your IPSW (ipod restore firmware) it has to be the correct version. And the "just boot tethered" should fix your device.
But that's only if you didnt back the device up. If you don't care about any of the data on the ipod then you can simply open itunes navigate to the device and click the restore button. This will restore the ipod firmware and install a fresh copy. Good luck let me know if you have any problems.

  • Can't install or uninstall itunes itunes 64.msi error

Can't install or uninstall itunes itunes 64.msi error - does anyone have a fix?
The itunes64.msi cannot be found in the temp sub-folder it was originally installed in.
I believe the System Mechanic cleaned out the temp files and now I can't install or uninstall itunes.
I tried to manually recreate the folder that the itunes64 setup is looking for and manually copied the 11.0.1 version of all the .msi files included in the installation, but, the installation still cannot find the itunes64.msi.

I was able to solve my problem by following all the directions at the following Apple site - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926?viewlocale=en_US
I was not able to remove the iTunes program using Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel; however, that didn't seem to matter. I removed the directories and used the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. I reinstalled iTunes Ver 8.1.1.10 with no problems. I'm sticking with this version for the time being.

  • TS3212 I have recently had to do a restore on my computer and now I can not update or uninstall Itunes

Every time there is an update for itunes it will not update because it can not find my original MSI file even tho the MSI file is there and I can not uninstall Itunes because of the same MSI file , I have recently done a system restore on my computer and that is when the problem started.
Can anyone help with this problem.

Since this first message, the "Other" space has increased exponentially.  The first time, after the "restore", it increased to over 9 GB.  Later, I tried a minor restore again, and now it's over 10 GB.  I've seen someone suggest that text messages are to blame.  If my text messages are suddenly taking up 4 GB of space, I think we've got bigger problems.
