HT1926 When Installing new version error is quicktime cannot uninstall old version

When trying to install new version of Quicktime, I get a error message that quicktime cannot uninstall old version. This also affects Itunes to work. Get Message Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I think not having quicktime working affects my Itunes from launching.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Itunes Not Working When Installing New Version

I installed the newest version of itunes today. I was a bit afraid that it wouldn't work, because the last time I installed Itunes 5, it stopped working. But 3 days later, Itunes started to work again.
Well, the same thing happened this time and it's not working.
I tried uninstalling quicktime and 're-installing/repairing' itunes, but that's not working.
I haven't uninstalled itunes because I don't know what will happen with my purchased music. So, if I did uninstall itunes and later on try to install itunes again, what would happen with my purchased music?
And any suggestions as to how I can get itunes working?
    Thanks.

    hi thegoodfight!
And yes, I do have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on this PC.
... thought so. every now and then the NIS 2005 itunes "error-message-free" launch suppression problems would clear up overnight of their own accord.
lets give the trusty Lorraine M technique a whirl. (it's the most reliable technique i've seen with regard to fixing the NIS 2005 things.)
    Lorraine M: NIS/itunes problem rectified
if no joy with that, we'll try working through another few possibilities with the error-message-free launch suppression problems.

  • Unable to fully uninstall older firefox version to install new version.

When installing new version of firefox, I receive the instruction that I should re-boot to complete removal of previous version. After doing this, I continue to receive the same instruction when I try to install again.

I am new to these forums and hope this is posted in the right one. If not, could someone direct me?
I am having a ton of problems with 5.1. I installed it last Friday (without removing the previous version) and nothing is working properly. It took me 2 days to figure out a way to delete it (uninstaller would not work). To begin with, iTunes would simply not open. I double click on the icon and nothing. Tried to re-install and same problem. Found a copy of 4.9 and installed it, but got error message stating "QuickTime failed ti initialize - Error #2095. Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed. Uninstalled iTunes again and tried to uninstall QuickTime so I could start from scratch. When I run Add/Delete programs, QuickTime does not appear. However, when I run search, it lists a freaking 433 files associated with QuickTime.
Can someone tell me a simple way to erase iTunes completely from my computer? If I can do this, I will simply reinstall the original iTunes I got with my mini and not worry about updating. I don't care about the podcasts -- I just want to be able to get back to the beginning so I can import tunes to my mini. Sorry for this being so long, but I am at my wit's end dealing with this. Thanks.

  • Can't install new version of itunes or quicktime

Like others, I get the error message Apple Application Support needed to run itunes Helper. Uninstall itunes then instal again. I have repeatedly tried to instal new version of itunes having uninstalled (following troubleshooting page) the old version. I also get the Microsoft windows message Windows installer stopped working and was closed. When I try to install Quick Time on its own I get the message "An error occurred during the installation of assembly Microsoft VC.80,CRT.... What can I do?

In general, these ones tend to be caused by underlying problems on the PC that can prevent Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to fix the Windows Update issues. If we can get Windows Updates flowing again, that generally clears up the iTunes install errors +en passant.+
Head into your Windows Update, and check for any new updates. Do any fail? If so, open your Update History and doubleclick on the failure entries to bring up a small box with alphanumeric error message codes. Are you getting 8000FFFFs? (They often seem to be associated with an iTunes-install 0x800736FD.)
If you're getting 8000FFFFs, try the following Microsoft document:
    [Windows Update Error 8000FFFF|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-Error- 8000FFFF]
Head back to Windows Update, and stock up on any updates you're behind on. Once you're completely up to date in that regard, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Error occur when download new version of Air application.
    the error is given below
"There was an error downloading the update. Error# 16824"
    Please help me

If on windows, take a look at the following file to see what's going on:
    c:\Document and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\logs\Install.log
    Common issues:
The version number specified in the application.xml file of the download is not the same as the value specified in the update.xml file.
The application ID of the new file is not the same as that in the old file.
At any rate, the probable in most probably due to an invalid value in the application descriptor file.

You usually have to use the program's uninstaller utility for such things as Symantec. Read this:
    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH132120
You may need to install it all over again, just to use its uninstaller.

Are you using any VST plug-ins or audio units? Then check, if they are still compatible. You may need to uninstall them.

  • No alert is thrown when installing higher version of a set up.

    Hi,
We have a winforms application. We create set up and install. We provide version numbers while creating set up. The issue here is, let us take that I have installed a version 3.4.0. When I try to install a version 3.3.0 or less than what has been installed
a pop up showing the error message that already a different version of the app is installed. But if I install a version 3.5.0 it is not throwing any error message. What we require is, it should also notify any of the versions is already installed. Please guide
    me on this.

I have problem with syncing in itunes and it stared since i installed new version of itunes.it stuck in backup step for houres.what shud i do?

So, in iTunes, when you look at the shuffle's content (in the sidebar) and click on the playlist under the shuffle, over to the right, the songs are in your desired order, correct?  Where do you look, or what do you do, that indicates the playlists are in alphabetical order?  Are you saying that when you play the songs while using the shuffle, they play in alphabetical order?
If so, when you listen to the songs on the shuffle, are you using the playlist, or are you using the All Songs list? If you are in the default All Songs list, with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order (the middle position), the songs play alphabetically, I believe.
The 3rd gen shuffle uses VoiceOver.  If you are in the All Songs list, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to the playlist (see manual linked below for details).  When you are in the playlist (with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order), then the songs should play in playlist order.
There are more details in the manual for the 3rd gen shuffle, which is online here
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_3rdGen_UG.pdf
See page 22 for the section about setting up and using VoiceOver.  The part about switching playlists starts on page 23 (Using the Playlist Menu).
