HT1933 The app purchased is not compatible with current hardware, how can I get a refund?
I purchased an app just about an hour ago and it tells me that the app is not compatible with the hardware I already have and in good working order. I already bought an app for the same hardware for my iPhone, it's just different version for the iPad, so I bought it.
Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that app, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :
and then the 'Report a Problem' link on its line :
and select 'inadvertently purchased' as the problem and fill in the details (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).

If you did not make a backup of the old version of the app before you deleted it, there's no way you can get it back now. The current version should still work on your iPhone 3GS, though. You just need iOS 4.3 or later, so if your iPhone still has an older version, update to the latest iOS.
If, however, you really have an iPhone 3G, not a 3GS, then unless again you make a backup copy of the old version of the app, there's nothing you can do until you're ready to get a newer iPhone since iOS 4.2.1 is the final version your iPhone 3G will run.

I use the kurzweil 300 software and before I can use Read the Web I must first install the KESIReader.xpi Foxfire extension into Mozilla Foxfire however, the extension is not compatible with Mozilla Foxfire 5 which is the version installed on my computer. My company uses SalesForce CRM and recently changed wholesale to Macs. Unfortunately, certain functions in SalesForce are not compatible with the current version of Safari or any version of FireFox newer than 3.0 and we need to be able to use those functions. The developer hasn't made the toolbar compatible with Firefox 10 yet. There is a Beta version which is compatible with Firefox 10, however BE VERY CAREFUL when installing Beta software. It may just be better to wait until an official release.

I would like to update Pages from 4.1 to 4.2. I did not purchase it from the App Store but installed it with iWorks. How do I complete the upgrade?
The iWork 9.2 updater is for those using Mountain Lion. Why do you want to update to Pages 4.2 if you're still running Lion? There is no benefit & many users have had problems.
That being said, you must make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. All three applications must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
Now, choose Software Update from the Apple menu, from System Preferences or launch the Mac App Store & click Updates. You should get a window similar to this screenshot. Now click the Update button next to iWork 9.2.

My mac has OSX version 10.8.2 and I'm try to install an aiport express base station which requires 10.5.7 or later. Yet when I try to install the software it says the base station is not compatible with my mac version - how do I resolve?
You already have the software installed that you need if you have 10.8.2.
If AirPort Utility cannot find the Express, that is another matter. More software is not needed. More troublehooting is needed.
Power up the Express for a full minute
Hold in the reset button on the Express for 7-8 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Look for a heading of New AirPort Base Station
Just below that, click on AirPort Express
